I finally got the amount of money I needed to buy one of those, went to jita to get a good deal, and saw that the prices I had checked the night before had almost doubled. Hyper-depressing.

This is clearly manipulation at work too though no?
Predictions on trending anyone? Melted Nano's appear to be going ever upwards and the talk is of buffed Sleepers on Sisi, but perhaps this will be countered by people adapting quickly and this 'step' in demand levelling out as people use up their SP remap?

Not as clearly as you might think, demand is high enough that the manipulation only needs a small push. Over the weekend it went back down to so low as 210M isk, yesterday it was back up to 250M isk, now it's hitting 280M isk...

It will go even higher when the Nos/Neut changes to Sleeper AI go in with the next Incursion patch ;)

Nanoribbons are also on the rise. Not even counting: Hydrogen Isotopes PLEX Tengu Obelisk Charon Tritanium Maelstrom Hulk Liquid Ozone
Etc...
(And it's not even a little rise, it's pretty significant. I don't know WTF's Happening, maybe there are less mining bots. Wouldn't explain the Nanoribbons though.

Also, finished T3 hull, Hybrid Decryptors (All but Caldari which is being manipulated downwards) and T3 datacores.
Most P1 are up and a bunch of PI intermediates are getting close to their production cost; Synthetic Oil, Superconductors, Transmitters, High-Tech Transmitters, smartfab.
I'm wondering if the demise of Eve-Metrics might be the cause, a reduction interregional arbitrage.

Minerals being bought up to stock up for Hulkageddon explains some of the prices, Hulks going up definitely doesn't surprise me and I imagine the Mackinaw is likely going up too (Hulkageddon is the ultimate manipulation... T2 BPO cartel throws down some cheap prizes, uses the stupid "LOL CAREBEAR TEARS" pirates to their advantage, banks many billions)
PI prices seem to be really floaty right now, not sure what's going on there.
I thought PLEX was going down? Might have changed, haven't been watching the past few days.

The equilibrium price of Nanoribbons is due for a correction because of a) the Magnetar fix (take a look at Nanoribbon price behavior in Jita since late September, when CCP realized how the **** Magnetars work and took action), and b) the introduction of neuts to Sleepers, which, I understand, has far-reaching impact because it demands a change of tactics for many WH farming operations and makes it more expensive to harvest Sleepers.
The Melted Nanoribbons market is being helped out in its feverish efforts to find a new equilibrium by some very diligent manipulation on Tengu and Loki hulls, artificially sustaining the momentum of their price increase from the learning skill changes (by the way, I'm not sure if whoever is behind that is extremely astute in leaving subsystem prices alone, or just too broke to focus on more than the two most used hulls). T3s are a pretty smart choice for this because, being luxury goods, they're price-inelastic (i.e. the quantity demanded doesn't significantly increase when price goes up), as recent Jita volumes grimly (or delightfully, depending on your perspective) demonstrate.
The other stuff - freighters, Hulk, Orca, what have you - is similarly coasting on momentum, no doubt also helped by manipulation to some degree, and their component prices (Melted Nanoribbons, Tritanium) are predictably following their rise. Long-term, the only thing that's going to stick are higher Melted Nanoribbons and thus T3 prices (because of fundamental changes to Nanoribbons' supply), and how long everything else lasts depends on the pockets and patience of any manipulators involved and the speed with which people take up suddenly more profitable activities (freighter / Hulk / Orca production, mining, etc).
What left the biggest impression on me in this whole episode is the extent to which ISK was shown to be a non-factor in purchasing decisions. I knew we had a level of inflation that only Zimbabwe and Weimar Germany could envy us on, but dayum.
Re: PI - my reading is that stockpiles are being depleted, and the more depleted they get, the more their rate of depletion accelerates (because with higher prices stockpilers have more incentive to liquidate, and the more time passes the likelier it becomes a stockpiler will need an injection of liquidity during one period and will dump stock on the market). Everything we're seeing on the PI market is a result of this and of attempts to adapt to incoming PI changes.
And with that we conclude the Atandros report on the economy. Trade wisely.

Two things: The economy is starting to rebound from the insurance nurf slump (even macrominers reach a point where they feel like its not really worth it).
A certain article on another site highlighted to all the macrominers how much more ISK they could make if only they had a macroratter. Now instead of flooding the market with minerals many of them are just flooding the market with ISK (expect missile demand to rise of the next few months, too).

The whole of T3 reverse engineering supply chain is continuing to rise.
Quite a few PI goods are heading towards break even.

Edited by: Wyke Mossari on 08/01/2011 11:57:05 The majority of T3 manufacturing & invention goods, decryptors, hybrids, etc are continuing to rise (excluding Tengu's and Caldari hybrids.
Increased demand from SP re-allocation is the explanation for the initial spike and the fixes applied to make sleepers even tougher prospect is sustaining the continued rise.
Invention still play a pretty small part of over all cost of T3 and I expect hybrids decryptors to continue to rise to peak quite quickly in the 600-800k range for Minmatar & Amarr and a little lower for Gallentte (~400k). Datacores will test the 50k celling again but more slowly and their peak is longer term, because there are still considerable stocks floating around.
This is a good example where an appreciation of fundamental causes trumps classical technical analysis. I don't mean to denigrate TA but traders need to appreciate it is only every one tool of market makers.
