Interesting times.

Originally by: Shaun Ronin This is a game guys, plz try to remeber that. I am FA, but i respect my opponents. PBL had some people in local and were amassing a group. I had people in delve trying to get together, but with FA under attack in the north and our constant threat form other corps in A2 and the pipe causes quite the problem to gather forces and fight. When i heard that PBL corps were forming NAPS with Shinra i thought it was to leave the area. Entering into a NAP with a hostile corp that came and invaded your space took the station, and killed you corpmates can be understood at times especailyl when you've exhausted most of your resources fighting. Forming a NAP so you can stay to mine, and hunt etc. is crap. You might as well just join their corporation guys. This is IMHO, but staying there and forming an NAP with them is wrong. SHinra is good at playing the political game as well. They use FA and any of FA's mistakes or political procedures to overshadow and justify a good amount of their actions. SHinra blobs too, I've seen it , Anyway, staying in tpar and being in a NAP with Shinra would make you KOS in my book. You are staying their mining and hunting. Pulling out and gathering your forces in a more organized manner would be a better idea IMHO, staying their just doesnt make sense. Thats like people running into my house with guns killing some of the family, and then telling me that if i don't do anything I can stay to eat and use the bathroom. FA has you KOS cuz you stayed there and are refining in a station now owned by Shinra. Plain and simply. If you had just left and came to Delve, empire or FA core to help get organized, it would have been different. Remeber this is IMHO of the situation. GL to all parties involved and hopefully some more good pvp'n comes outta this
Oh and by the way i patrol delve alot and never made friendly or allied corps pay to go from querious down to PB through delve. And even those who were fridnds of PBL or PBL got free pass through passes. Neutrals were stopped or asked to pay for passes. SO i hope that puts that one to rest.
First, Shaun, let me say that I have the utmost respect for the Nighthawks (remember the Empyrean Federation days? :-) )
Now, to address your post.
First: Saying that we are supporting Shinra because they have a 2 percent tax is laughable, and you know it. In fact, we would have supplied them with more isk had we actually pulled out of TPAR-G and flown back to empire (had they killed even one of our ships with its expensive equipment, they would have made more money than from 2 months of taxes from our entire corp!!!) If Fountain were thinking of it from a truly economical standpoint, they'd see that making new enemies (enemies that will soon be ganking miners and haulers in Fountain Proper and helping Shinra in every way possible) is vastly more costly than allowing us to hand Shinra 500K isk each day. As we speak, many of the once neutral corporations are rallying against FA to cause them some degree of pain.
Second: There is one reason and one reason alone that Shinra is here in Period Basis: Fountain. They didn't come to kill PBL or FIX or the neutral corps that live there (and some of which have lived there for a year). They came for Fountain. A few months ago (when we were still in CFS) we tried to escape from Fountain's strangle hold and be free of their enemies. We got a bit tired of having to take Fountain's stations back FOR them (from their enemies), hand them back to a lone BIG rifter, then proceed to pay their taxes once more. So now Fountain, once again, wants us to be enemies with everyone they are enemies with or otherwise be KOS. Discraceful.
Third: Think of the neutral corps in Period Basis as feudal peasants. We pay taxes to whomever owns the castle that sits above the country side. The lord may change, but we remain. If bandits attack our livestock in the country side, we form a possie to flush them out. If the Lord's men (the owner of the castle) is doing a particularly good job of protecting us, we send them a little extra. Now, if the Lord number one (the lord in the castle) is attacked by Lord number two because they disagree over "which end of the egg should be cr@cked to make an ommlette," why must the people get involved?
Thank you. |

I imagine FA and PBL honor their hunting/mining passes much like they honor their cease-fires; not much at all. If they think you have something they want, they'll shoot you, and scramble for an excuse later. Keep your 5 mil, it's better spent on insurance and megapulses.

To those of you entering into NAP's with Shinra- I would like to say that I feel you are doing the right thing. It's a tough choice- but consider the fact that Shinra are honest people, and have friends that will back them up in a second if asked to keep their regions safe. They have no reason to mistreat you- it's not in their best interests. Shinra are not carebears, they fight. That's what they do. There are no shady underhanded deals, no T2 market to reinforce with your mining labour. Hell- if you asked for an accounting of how much minerals are being taxed, Im sure Shinra would oblige. Hell- consider for a fact that Shinra is using battleships of complete worth probably exceeding 3-4 billion isk- do you think they really care about 100 mill of minerals? (assuming there is even that much).
I've flown alongside Shinra, and while they can be a bit rough around the edges in forums etc, they are great people- very loyal and good friends to those who respond in kind.
Entering a state of peaceful relations with Shinra is not only a sensible move- but a mutually beneficial one for yourselves and your friends.

Seeing as many people in this thread have showered Shinra with praise, I have taken it upon myself to stop this ghey-fest. There are certain facts about Chowdown that must be brought out into the open:
1. He likes Bovril and Marmite 2. He is known to defenestrate Badgers. 3. Heavy Drinking. Also Surrounds himself with heavy drinkers. Rumors have it he lost a fight on new years because his designated scout, awake 12 hours after ringing in the new year, was in fact still very much drunk. |

You havent partied until a badger has been thrust through a window. Heavy drinking..umm he's ex-CA dude :) I agree on point 1, if he ate Vegemite- he'd be even more awesome than he is already. Bovril and Marmite- omg the insidious evil of it!

Originally by: Betty Boom I am ShinRa and thats, how we learn, what a NAP is:
NAP (Non-Agression-Pack) - A NAP is an agreement between to parties to respect the asset, ownership and interests of the other corp/alliance. A NAP never contains the status to be an allie or join compat ops.
- asset : ships, mods, minerials, etc - ownership : player-owned-station, terretory etc - interests : travelling rights, mining rights etc
English is not my native language too, so I stay out of interpretions :)
Lallante keeps spamming TPAR local with this: "Shinra Controls TPAR. If your corp would like to use the Refinery at 2% and travel freely, contact me for a NAP"
What I read there is "come and mine for us"
2%.... I mean... TWO PERCENT!!!! Oh, how Shinra is raking in the money! That whole 1.25 mil that the neutral corps are contributing to Shinra's coffers every day is just ENBEARABLE!! What a pathetic excuse--- but then again, FA has always been the fan of pathetic excuses... I remember back when we were in CFS, we accused BIG of using CFS and DSMA as work mules (5 percent tax). What was their response?
"The five percent tax doesn't make us any money at all! We're just here to keep the area safe!"
Oh, so a 5 percent tax is negligle (in times of prosperity and a lot of mining) but a 2 percent tax (when hardly a soul is mining) is suddenly a gold mine? Give me a break!!
FA, stop masking your bloodlust with feeble excuses.
sure it is !!! shinra can pay all their shiplosses with it.
the rule is, u own only what u can hold, and FA is not able to hold TPAR ... period.
it is a real shame that they slaughter now in revenge their old mining slaves, but maybe that is the reason whya they re mining slaves ?

Edited by: Monkiboy on 21/01/2005 23:59:51 umm, you were in a cruiser and you killed interceptors/frigs..
wow what you must fricken rock.. it's like- you know- you were in a ship designed to kill frigates and interceptors or something.
Could it be you figured out that the game is one great big game of rock paper scissors? or maybe you havent?
If you'd been in a frig - they would have killed you. If you'd have been in a BS, you'd have been scrambled and dead in the water.
Until the day they introduce "aiming" into eve, it will continue to not be about skill- but about how you've equipped your ship, and the hope you run into the kind of ship you've equipped to kill. In short.. Dumb luck. Hardly something to brag about.
I've fought Zeal dragon, and have the utmost respect for his abilities at this game. The fact you have a kill mail with his name on it- doesnt make you > him. It just means that you have a kill mail without context and is therefore near valueless. He could have been CFD for all we know.

Like I said, he asked for it and BTW 5-10 ceptors plus an Assault cruiser at times against me alone mostly, where fair odds since you weren't there.
