Cimilkar	Posted - 2011.01.09 07:38:00 - [1] So i gank this miner in high sec, and he crys and crys in local for about 30 minutes. Very ammusing off course. So, im not going to actively move from system to system chasing this nub. However, every time i pass thru this system i plan to see if hes there, and if he is, do a repeat performance. So im wondering, how far can you take it without ccp intervention?

Given the nature of this game the only measure of griefing is a highly subjective one. As long as the guy isn't in a newb system then you can probably safely gank away until a dev tells you to call it quits.

If someone go around that by using alts and/or friends, then it goes into harrassment. But as long as people keep listening to your crap, you can just abuse them as much as you want. Stalking - you can stalk people forever, more or less. I learned it the hard way when I started the game. ****ed off some angry russians by stealing from them and contract (bookmarks) scamming them. They stalked me for weeks until I made a new character (Misanth). Basicly the 'harsh world' thingy with EVE means you can just be a douche as much as you want, but you got to face the consequences. That miner can pull in friends. You can pull in friends. You both have the option to move/block etc. Camp him into stations? For weeks? Months? Who cares, unless this is the nub system, it's part of EVE mechanics. Harrassment is only really when you start to work around the block, bar that, you are pretty much safe. - I'd tell you why but then I'll have to kill you. And to kill you I'd have to log in. And to log in I'd have to stop browsing these forums. Both you and me knows that'll never happen.

If you're not stalking him from system to system and corporation to corporation killing him and him alone for weeks on end, I doubt you'll get into any kind of trouble. Just gank a few other miners in other systems too and now you're just a mining ship ganker spreading the (anti)love. But as other people said, it's a fine line to walk. I mean for instance, if you gank him every fifteen minutes for six months, following him from system to system and corporation to corporation, shooting only him and ignoring everyone else in the entire game - is that harassment? Meh - I'm guessing it will depend on the GM that gets the petition. --Vel I'm more of a care-badger.

Not really sure, I think I've actively harassed several people of the last year or so up but not limited to: -Broadcasting a supercap giveaway with WT Vent Info for the 'live action drawing' -Made mission running fleets in WT corp with neutral spai, and warped in a hostile fleet with mah mainz. -Suicide Ganked the same person 13 times in Teonusude (the GM watching thought it was funny, guess I lucked out there) -Encouraged a WT that was leaving his corp/alliance to steal everything and gtfo.. popped his freighter on a gate minutes later. Here's looking at you Rule of Five. -Given not so great fitting advice with a spai; "Srsly, hull tanking is win" You can get away with quit a bit of backhanded behavior, the only limiting factor is your attention span and patience. Well, I think the SuperCap Giveaway thing got me Globally Muted for an hour but that was after I posted it in Rookie Chat, or maybe Help Channel, or Jita Local who knows... Probably Recruitment for sure..

The simple fact that even in hi sec you run your mouth out of dock and you can die puts Eve 4 tiers above most every MMO on the market. Why? Because young punks and old alike who act like douchebags can be taken out just as easily as a person who thinks he is safe in hi sec till he forgets about you and he is in a freighter... Granted im not a corp thief or much of a pirate and I hate salvage thieves with a passion but I have to admit that without these dangers in game it would just be 1 dimensional boredom.
