Hi.
I've seen many questions about multiple screens etc., but you can run multiple characters on one PC with 4 screens. Sure dev's always told me it's not possible or not supported but this set up works fine. I hope it helps you out. Two years in a row it gives me great fun.
- 4 Samsung SyncMaster P2070 LED screens - Intel CPU Q6600, 4 GB PC - Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit (but also worked on Vista Pro) - videocard Asus 5870 Eyefinity 6 (has 6 outlets)(before I used 2 identical Nvidea cards) and atm the Catalyst Control Center must manually identify the 4 screens whenever I start the PC up (yes, small nag). You also need Active Display Port cables and they are not cheap. check for this card //www.motherboards.org/reviews/hardware/2057_4.html for set up - internetconnection: glasfiber (thus cable), 100Mb/s (this way I know connection is fine) Note: identical screens is a must. I have not used 6 screens because that's too expensive atm.
When you put EVE in windowed mode you can drag your characters to each screen. I even have 2 characters on one screen. Nice for mining ops although 2 active Hulks is the limit for one person, 3 asks all your attention. Several devs (in petitions) said its impossible but they aint right. For over 2 years I play happily this way (no lag at all, but had lag under Vista and the 2 identical cards). Mostly I have six characters online (6th on laptop) and that boils down to great gameplay fun (small mining op for ICE, a mission or heck even ratting or PvP). Oh yes, your cursor moves over all 4 screens.
Hope this helps some of you out. Cheerz

You dont need that expensive setup. EVE works fine with clients on different monitors. It has some issues if you have several gfx cards. I occasionaly run 5 clients across 3 screens driven by 2 different gfx cards.
EVE windowed mode helper is btw great for multiple account setups. Even the current version that predates the "fixed window" option.

On above setup. I know its expensive. However after Incursion at least 3-4 of your EVE clients crash randomly (in space, in station).
I did petition it. Yet, I am afraid my EVE characters will never run smoothly again after Incursion [21-Jan-2011] and I might have to cease all payments [hundreds of euros for CCP per year] because I cant play the game as I did for years.
INCURSION is a major screw**. Hoping the petition will help me, but I am afraid CCP had outdone her patches this time in disservice. I will soon have to tell my bank to withdrew any payments, even if I paid in advance. Luckily I can with Mastercard.
Thus, be aware capsuleers! I can't support my above setup as being the best one.
P.S. Will reinstall WIN7 and EVE but thats my final way to go....

I agree, I have been using mutiple screens (up to 6 shamely) and it worked fine until ...incursion 1.1.0 patch. Now it crashes randomly and often, even at idle... In another channel I see that most people having similar problems are running 64 bit OS. Most are Win7 64, I personally have the problem with Vista 64... Even two screens - 2 characters does not work anymore...

Edited by: Zarutha on 22/01/2011 16:20:30 Same here. Before incursion I was running 2 charactersnon 2 2500x1900 30" monitors. This was with Windows 7 64 bit. When incursion came out, I couldn't do is. I thought for sure i needed to run SLI, so I bought a second Nvidia 590 and ran it SLI, it still doesn't work.
I would love some advice, it's frustrating. Is it something you think CCP will fix?
Is anyone here running SLI? Some questions to get the best results do you run SLI and plug each monitor in the main SLI card? Or run each video card independently with each cable plugged into each card? ( when I tired this as an alternative, it split the framerate between each monitor.)

I think I have it working now, I turned off Resource Cache Enabled in the graphical settings. Basically I turned everything off and slowly added. When I got to Resource Cache Enabled it made my screens go black and start double in size and spread into the other monitors.
Well see how this works. At least I'm getting 60fps again on all monitors.
I ended up going with SLI. - both monitors plugged into a single card.
It's odd, you would think this kind of stuff would be important to CCP since they are promoting multiple accounts.

Thanks Zarutha. It confirms that the combination of OS 64 and graphic cards (at least settings) might be an issue. I tried on mine but the Resource Cache Enabled were already disabled. it got to the point now where running one character only still crash my system randomly although less frequently... It would be nice if CCP could help us out a bit here as for me, I can't play since Incursion 1.1.0. I know they must be overwhelemed by petitions and bug reports but I believe it would be more important to address the hardware issues first rather than ingame ones that do not prevent players to...play. I would not mind to try different settings if CCP requests us our help, but at least say something. Tkx.

Thanks for the replies. Reinstalled WIN7 64 bit and EVE. Run in on preset for memory [never had to do that] and still crashes after few hrs. Also use Basic graphics for WIN7 [not Areo].
Will copy/paste this link in my petition.
Have to limit my actions to hi-sec as crashing there and restarting EVE have the least problems.
Will be at FANFEST and hope there will be an "issue" workshop.

My issue must be different, I learned you can't change any graphic settings if 2+ clients running or it goes ape****, where one window goes black and starts growing until you bring up the task bar to quit the client.
Now what I do is make my settings changes to one client, quit, then load up the other to do the same. Once I have them perfect, I load them both up and have no issues.

Active Display Port cables are cheap because AMD did what they wanted all along. Get cheaper hardware clocks out. Now you can buy a DP - DVI (active) for 30$ compared to 70$ or even few hundred bucks.
I run 3 monitors (1080) with one active adapter for just 30$ (http://resources.vr-zone.com/uploads/10339/powercolor_dvi_adaptor_small.jpg) works without any issues and is certified by AMD for 1900x1200 resolution some say its more.
ATI5970 here and I am running eve on 2 of my displays in fixed window mode so I can move freely from one to another. This also means that crossfire is disabled but the performance is great. Also tried EVE with eyefinity mode and the horizontal offset and that one to works like a charm really. Running eve in 6016x1080p is really something, and no performance issues at al.
Also when running several clients I would run without AA or as low as possible because its really unoptimized and buggy still. The Game |

Good advice, thanks. I take it you use Evemon's re locator to center the windows to your monitor?
