Quite large indeed. What would be really awesome is to see them in a size comparison from other sci fi stories like star wars, star trek etc.
Does anyone know if there is such a comparison? Video would be awesome but even a picture would be great.

sure - it's only a picture but it helps put everything into perspective:

If those 2 pictures merged together are at the same scale then I'm suprised. I honestly thought that at least the Titans in EVE would dominate every other Sci-Fi ship in size.

Those aren't titans - they're dreadnaughts.
The Titans actually eclipse the Super Star Destroyer in size (though not length). I've been trying to upload a picture with them, but the ridiculous size kinda makes it difficult...

Edit: I made it, though I had to shrink the EVE side instead of blowing up the other side, so a lot of the subcapitals are literally just a few pixels. Oh, well!
It gives a better sense of the scale, I think. http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/Zyrusticae/EVE-Ships-vs-Everything-Elsea.jpg
WHOOOOOOOAAAAAAA... kudos to you for making this. Now I know that my Dreadnought is larger than Deep Space 9... and that they can dock in EvE stations... _______________________

Imagine if your titan had the drone capacities that the super star destroyer appears to have.

The standard model has 12 squadrons of fighters. That's only 144 craft, usually of the early TIE-starfighter family, so they don't even have shields, are weak enough to be destroyed with one or two hits from a vessel of equal size and have a weapon range well within the reach of a standard large smartbomb. So I guess it would be pretty cool and fun until the moment when someone activates a smartbomb anywhere near them.

That's pretty cool.
Strange too, because I always felt my Mega was about the size of Star Destroyer, but I figured it was because they share a similar rear.

This one is pretty good too. Amarr Edition Gallente edition here.
I disagree. Those videos don't really show scale any better than the game itself, since they're all so far away from each other and you can't really compare them.
I think the best are the Source and Crytek engine ones. They're first-person, so you can see how big the ships would look to human, instead of just floating around looking at high-res renders with no real sense of scale.

Originally by: Bazzyrick Edited by: Bazzyrick on 14/01/2011 15:41:09 Several things confused me about determining the size of the ships. One of them was ofc the window/lights thing. Some are obviously just flashing lights, but then some do look like windows. Another thing is some ships (again I'm talking from Caldari experience) Have a large opaque glass cover where I'm assuming the bridge is. They never seem to be on the same scale as the other 'windows' on the ship, if we assume thats what they are. Another thing I also didnt know that the ships in EVE arent to their correct scales. I havent got past Battlecruisers yet.. so (begs for forgiveness).
Is there a Bridge? Bridge is a command center on a vessel, but since it's all done from the Pod, I would assume there isn't the need for a Bridge. So those large opaque glass covers you see (I'm thinking of the Manticore personally, though there are others) might just be large glass opaque covers.
I've never noticed the window size comparison for smaller ships, though one could assume that the windows on a Kestrel are just smaller windows, maybe portholes, and the windows on a Raven are full ceiling to floor windows.
Originally by: CCP Spitfire A while back Massively has posted a few videos that wonderfully convey the scale of EVE Online ships - highly recommended!
Never seen this one before. It's pretty cool!
Capsuleer ships tend to be regular ones with a pod fitted though, so I guess the covers would be bridges on a ship with a normal crew.
I don't like goo, so I've sold my pod and have a crew.

Interesting picture, the Caldari and Minmitar titans arent far off the Star Destroyer in length, but in height they all dwarf it. One thing these dont show is width, if I remember right the SD's were really wide. I dont know how that would compare to the Titans though.
One thing that would also be interesting for someone with a lot of time on their hands (lol) would be to compare how powerful the various weapons and shields are, using numbers like power outputs and.. whatever other figures are available. Dont Star Destroyers have hundreds of turrets? Doomsday weapon tbh.
