Suddenly Ninjas Tear Extraction And Reclamation Service

Some of the information posted is wrong.. and I'm sure I've probably been a ninja for longer than you have :)
We *never* have 20 friends waiting to RR, a majority of this (85%) is done solo. Unionized ninjas tend to work alone unless in a salvage fleet or canflipping. Setting it blue will make us switch from "Maybe I'll get to shoot" to "OK, thanks!" Popping wrecks just makes me fly from wreck to wreck. Leaving just makes me leave and come back to take the bounties, loot, AND salvage in a bigger ship.

Originally by: Ascendancy just shoot your wrecks and watch them sit around, they usually get pretty bored and leave soon after lol
If they don't want to do the co-op thing, shoot the wrecks.
I've met some nice people proposing them to join my fleet so they get bounties too and maybe extra points for the corp I'm running missions for. Of course, for a 20-25% of the salvage. Some even lent a hand for some nastier missions just so it would go faster.
If they didn't want to, I'd just blow the wrecks.
But I do like can-flippers that fly in my mission in a T2/3 ship and loot the wreck, start bleeping red and then just hover around me hoping I'd shoot them; especially when they're not on an alt and their employment history shows they got 3 extra years in EVE compared to me.

Get a friend in a noctis to help you out and salvage. Ninja tears are sweet tears.
Doing a mordus headhunters last night, we lost one frigate wreck to the ninja. Was easy. ----- If you kill all the wolves, your gonna end up with a crapload of bunnies, and by bunnies I mean stupid people

1. Remember that on some missions, the salvage just isn't worth the hassle. 2. Don't even bother with drones, the real money there is the loot. 3. If you see one in a really weak ship, and they steal a can, fire, but immediately after, dock up and wait it out. If your lucky it'll scare them off. Just be aware that they might have a better ship with them. 4. Clear out the first couple of pockets first, if anyone comes in after you do them chances are that they'll lose interest. 5. Don't AFK, that'll give them a much better chance of finding you. 6. Remember that Local is your best friend, check to see if any of their corp mates are in system, the easiest way to do this is to set their entire corp (or alliance) as red.

I am NOT there for your ship. Why? Cause I don't have a ship that can take on battleships. I'm there for the salvage, and maybe a little bit to see if the mission runner cries. Salvaging provides income, parts for my corp, and something else to do when my luck is running low exploring or I don't feel like missioning. Heck, I LIKE it when people set wrecks blue. Thanks for the loot, mate! Couple days ago I had a guy offer to let me tag along on his next few missions to salvage; I made a pretty decent amount and had a good time just BSing with the guy.
Not everyone is a griefer. Some of us just want to clean up your mission.
This is right, some people ask me if they can salvage my missions, it's ok, do it and split. Most of them do it and they get good stuff isk even splashing/2, and i, just go faster for my next one so my LP income faster. ________________________________________________

- Leave the mission site when the ninja turns red? Naah, that's a waste of time and not fun.
- Shoot the wrecks? Naah, thats a waste of ammo and not fun.
- Ignore him? Probably the best thing to do, but still not fun.
Actually, the minute I see a ninja in the mission site, I first put the drones on passive. If he just salvages, we r cool, salvage is not mine to begin with. If he loots and turns red, I immediately lock him and retrieve my drones, while trying to keep him in a frigate killing distance, 50km usually is ok. I then send a single volley and warp out to a planet, at 100km. I warp to my station base immediately, only to see a red armageddon undocking. So, the ninja gets a new rifter and I get me some fun, followed by 15 minutes of afk until the aggression is over.

If a ninja shows up, and they make a beeline for the goods (don't bother talking in local at all), I start shooting the wrecks. 1 cruise missile per wreck, they all pop very quickly. Be sure to shoot the ones the ninja is nearest first, and continue to lure him around until they are all gone. I'm the one doing the work to make the wrecks, I'll be damned if some ninja gets any of it.
Given how many missions a person may run in a week, losing loot/salvage for just one mission is not that bad.
Of course, if I'm feeling frisky, I'll bring my cap-stable rook out to make friends.

Then why not simply do your own missions?
I almost never see ninjas, but in a paladin you basically have 3 extra high slots that you can't put anything useful in besides tractors/salvagers. The few ninjas I've seen tend to get discouraged once they realize that I will simply slow down killing things to the rate at which I can salvage them (kill the rat farthest away from them). Also don't forget to set your drones to passive, and if they steal stuff you can target them to make them think you are going to fire on them, and lol as they waste their time waiting.
PS: any one have any suggestions on what to put in a paladin's 3 extra high slots? DLA maybe?

Don't have to grind through low level missions. Don't have to worry about traveling from agent to agent. Don't have to worry about rejecting worthless missions to get to the good ones. Don't have to take missions that damage my reputation with other factions. Don't have to worry about LPs, agent quality, etc.
Going into other people's missions is a lot like plexing (for me). I can warp in and take a quick look around and if I like it I will participate, otherwise I will just move on.
I don't know about other people who do the ninja salvage/mission busting gig for me the money is only part of the appeal (cause they money isn't all that great). I like probing and I like the gamble of never knowing what you are warping into or what you are going to get or how the other player is going to respond. All that matters to me is that what I am doing be interesting. Getting mission #143245 from Agent #17637 is not interesting. Probing down another player and then coming into their mission and taking their salvage, stealing their loot, or coming back in a big ship and competing for bounties IS interesting, and interesting is better than ISK any day.

The few times I've been ninja'd I just ignore them and complete my mission. A couple times, when I was just going to leave the wrecks anyway I just abandonned everything and let them clean it up. Just not worth getting worked up over.

Too bad you can't give ownership of your wrecks (as opposed to just setting them blue) to ninja 1 and watch ninja 2 annoying the heck out of ninja 1 by ninjaing his newly acquired wrecks.

Except do you know what happens when two ninjas encounter each other unexpectedly in the same mission?
Air high five. That's what.
Ah, and the wrecks get salvaged twice as fast.

What are you basing all that on, OP? None of it fits me at least. Getting YOUR ship is never part of the plan. I don't even go for loot unless the mission runner has already left the place. You can't annoy me by doing clever little tricks, because I'll just move on to one of the several other potential targets I've already bookmarked. Why would you set the wrecks to blue right before I get to them? It's never happened to me before, but won't that just basically give me the wreck and loot? Thank you! You're very welcome to talk to me. I don't care about tears, and I'll actually leave you alone if you just ask me nicely. People don't usually treat each other well online, so I respect that.

Edited by: Manic Duo on 25/01/2011 13:28:32 Isn't there a reeeeeeally easy way to stop ninjas getting into your mission in the first place? Like, say, keeping your damn eye on the scanner which is showing probes only because you've set your overview up right and jumping out when you see them closing in? Go do something else for 5 mins, jump back in, rescan, repeat ad nauseam.
So, have no ninjas for some extra effort, or HTFU and shoot dem wrecks ;)
Edit for spelling noobness.

Edited by: Mad Yojik on 25/01/2011 14:13:44 Well I'm missionrunner and I don't understand why are you so hateful on ninjas in the first place - like "they take our loot!!! AARGH!". First rule is true, dont get mad. Generally - its bounties and LPs I'm after, not some pesky loot&salvage - 90% of missions does not worth salvaging anyway. Loot -yes, the rats can drop some tasty loot... rarely, and if its L4s we are talking about - there is max 5-6 rats in pocket which worth looting, and that can be done with simple tractor beam in spare highslot. I generally like ninjas - the opportunity of small talk, maybe even sudden group missioning (they can shoot that pesky rat frigs aswell as my drones, in fact improving my completion time and increasing ISK flow ;) greatly outweghts the cost of loot lost anyway. Though there always are greifers, who really want you to shoot them - so they can kill you - but that ones in fact get angry and leave once they see blue wrecks. Lol.
Edit - grammar

Stop caring about Loot/salvage and just blitz, or get a Falcon and pilgrim alt sitting cloaked with you at all times.
Second option will certainly have more lulzs.
