I went for an older, although still attractive female for my avatar. I'd like to think of myself as a battle-hardened combat veteran, so it makes more sense than some dumb miss universe nominee look. ---

Originally by: Vicker Lahn'se In the character creator, make a female character and turn the aging and scaring sliders all the way up. Nothing changes. I see a nice spectrum of ages for male characters, but every female character I've seen looks to be in her 20's. I tried to make an old woman, but it seems impossible.
Tried hard cross lighting in the photo booth.

Edited by: Space Jew Sandwitch on 22/01/2011 03:51:30 Old women aren't technically alive as they're only function of a woman is to produce offspring. After menopause.. around 45ish They aren't people anymore just empty, soulless vessels. Shadows of what were once humans.
So its actually pretty realistic you can't create them. Sort of deep philosophy wise. How do you create 'give birth to' something which is already dead

No offense, but your avatar is almost the exact opposite of what you describe it as here. White hair doesn't make it look older (it actually contrasts with the youth of the face, making her seem even younger), and she'd much more likely pass as a Miss Universe type than as GI Jane.
That's just my opinion tho - I'm really just posting here so I can see how my wife did designing my forum alt... ---------------------------------------------- I don't have an alt, but there's a main that would be upset if he heard me say that... |

LOL That's actually a really good old lady right there. You missed the nose. like ears they never stop going, as you get older they get larger.
But you got the cheeks, brow, chin, even large ears down. Just needed to give the nose a little larger tip and maybe a little rounded hump on the bridge and it's be perfect!

The main question is however - why would a podpilot to be old in the first place ? We are immortal, we can pick any age we want our clones to be so if we so desire we can be physically 22 for the rest of eternity. Would it make any sense to pick a physical age of say .. 50 ? In my opinion it would not make a lot of sense. So for me it seems logical, that bodies of the podpilots would be somewhere from about 20 to 40 years old physically. You can pull off 'looking about 40 but well preserved' from the current character creator with patience, but pushing it beyond that is a bit tricky. In the case of male models it seems they have option to be a bit less well preserved. I imagine that living on blue pill and xtinct for few months can put quite a strain on ones body even within pod.

There is a little voice inside my head telling me not to type this, that no matter what I say, it's gonna be flamed to hell and gone.
Well, I rather like the cougars (MILF is not my preferred term, and I was hip to cougar long before it became the new in-style term...) Anyway, I've been playing around with jacking the age, scarring and freckles all the way to max and I rather like the results I've seen. Age of course gives you some wrinkles in the forehead, and some crow's feet. Scarring adds enough changes to one's face to avoid the plastic look that's been talked about since the new creator went live. Freckles was something I came to later (and indeed, I used none on this character.) I'm not a fan of freckles, but I look at them more as age spots or (in the case of darker skin tones) sun damage.
What I've come to realize (well, my opinion) is that initially, you look hideously old. Things begin to change when you sculpt the face a bit, and things really change when you throw on makeup. To my eye, after sculpting and applying makeup, you end up with characters that look to be late 30s through late 40s. It's really a huge change from when you first move those sliders on age/scarring/freckles.
I think you should aim to have a rather thin face - with cheekbones as full and as high as you can make them. Nip the cheeks in a bit, and for all women I think thin jaws are a must regardless of age. I look at it like this - as we age, our skin becomes less resilient. Fat moves away from the surface of the skin, so the face should (my opinion) look a bit taught.
When I do makeup, I go full on hooker application. I know for some it's way too much, and yeah, on all the no age, no scarring, no freckles it can be. (Of course, this is opinion...) When I do the older look, I'm aiming for that 39-45 age range. I think of a bit of a well to do woman, with money... Maybe a bit of a business woman. Ok, honestly, I'm thinking Joan Collins' character of Alexis from Dynasty - minus the business suit since that's not an option. Point is, Alexis wore a metric ton of makeup, but you'd have never confused her with a hooker.
Also, going with a shorter hair style may help the look.
I'll gin some up and see about posting some links to what I think a decent older character looks like with an edit after I've played a bit. |
