How common is it for FW members to use a neutral in a fleet with them to run a FW mission while they stay cloaked or otherwise safe in system? I was guarding a system against Gal FW missions, and it happened to me tonight. I thought I'd ask if this was an old trick before I got my knickers in a knot.

FW missions are pretty much like regular missions in that you can get "assistance" from someone else. So no, it isn't unheard of.
btw: Why didn't you go GCC on the alt? _______________________

Not really that common from what I've seen.

Happened again tonight in the same system, this time by a different pair of characters. Obviously this technique is getting some traction.

Gallentes had a tendency to use neutral characters to tank the npc spawns in FW plexes so nothing new here.

Highly annoying with neutrals running fw missions.
fw plexes regardless of who speedtanks the rats in the plex still requires a militia member to be close to the capture button and seeing as the fw plex rats should be removed anyhow since they deter combat rather then promote it... Fw missions does not require a militia member to actually do the dirty deed, it is an old trick to, nothing new to see. Go gcc to possibly get a kill and lose sec status. Should flag them for shooting your sides navy/npcs to make it less cumbersome ^^

Failtrain has a tendancy to use neutral character to tank the NPC Navy in Gallente high sec.
Notice my use of "has" and your use of "had". Present tense versus past.

L2GCC? Its not that bad of a sec status hit if you don't pop the pod.

According to the petitions I myself have had and have heard of: - Using a neutral to tank in FW plexes is an exploit. - Using a neutral to tank FW missions is NOT an exploit.
The newest thing I have heard of is that missions are being run by neutrals entirely, thus completely removing any threat to the person responsible and forcing opposing side to take security hits .. Haven't seen it personally so have no petition response but can only assume that the GMs don't give a damn .. it is "What is FW?" after all.

Isnt using neutral alt for fw mission just wasting character slot that could take some more missions if he was in fw?

True, but it flags you to gate and station guns and all the other intricacies of GCC, which is something that the "permanent war-dec" of FW is supposed to insulate you from. Also, there's the principle of it. May sound idealistic but I enjoy FW a great deal, and this kind of stuff just gives me a bad taste in my mouth.
And yes, I'm talking about neuts completing the mission, not just tanking the mission. Last nights example had simply a neut ishtar in the mission room--the FW character merely opened the mission then left system.

If it gives you that bad of a taste in your mouth, then leave and go join the lolblobs in null sec. CCP isn't going to fix anything regarding FW for a very long time, if they even do in the first place, so its up to you and you alone whether to stay in it or not. Don't forget, CCP hasn't cared about low sec/FW for years. If you stay in, you have to accept the "bugs" and ways around it. That means either go GCC on the ***** for using the alt in the first place or ignore it. /shrug
P.S. People who can easily farm level 4's in stealth bombers complaining about neutral alts in Ishtars is a bit lulz worthy. If I wasn't on the Gallente side, I'd be profiting on the neutral Ishtars. Ya gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet. If it's in the plex/mission, then it's a target. Stop off at a nearby asteroid belt and clean up your sec mess.
Roughly a quarter of the Caldari mission runners use a non-FW alt as their second character when doing missions (one tanks, the other uses the stealth bomber).

They don't even need an alt to do their missions. They can solo them in the stealth bombers, lol. Yeah I am a pirate. What are you gonna do about it? Killboard link is not allowed to be used in a signature.Applebabe

What? Only a quarter?
On the Minnie/Amarr side is closer 100% for both parties .. just so much easier with a low-skill noob speed tanker plus dps ship.

I've seen that. FW mission alt provides warp-in point, neutral does mission, FW alt cashes in on rewards.
It prevents that FW mission alt from risking their mission ship to WT camps, and confronts anyone wanting to interrupt the mission with sec loss and GCC. In a pinch, the alt could be used to tank NPCs if desired.
In some cases the FW mission alt pods itself to move back to the mission agent quickly. There are FW characters with a top rank who never have shot a hostile in their career. ____

I know FW has some warts--knew before I even came into it. I just hadn't seen this before myself, and thought I'd poll the masses to see how prevalent it was. And yes, I'll accept the GCC, no problem. But, we shouldn't have to--that's all I'm saying.
With respect to stealth bombers, what do you run lvl 4 FW missions in?

Pretty much. The travel tends to be the longest part, so I use a militia speedtanking alt in addition to my militia SB alt in order to grab double the missions from the ~4 decent State Pro agents.
