Why can't we lock our gates to keep poor people and small gangs out?

Space Jew Sandwitch	Posted - 2011.01.21 06:59:00 - [1] I was having a nice run today jewin' it up in 0.0 ratting. I was making good pace about to hit the 500m mark in my Thanny for the day. When 3 reds entered the constellation and I had to warp to the POS. All I could do was chat with them in local. It completely stopped my ability to play which doesn't make any sense. I didn't have to warp to the POS I could have just used one of the cyno gen. But it isn't where I like to rat/rat. So at a certain sov level we can jump out anyway... but we can't lock the gates? I think at sov 5 we should be able to put a POS shield like gaurd on the gates. So your system can be seiged. And you can't cyno jump out any more but people can cyno gen in. But you can go regular cyno's out. People shouldn't be able to jump roam all willy nilly in sov 5 systems. Tbh a titan should be able to damage the gates beyond use to close off a system only allowing cynos. But since that is out because that sounds like a tiny bit of effort to program. Why can't POS shields just pop up on the gate?

However, what might have been an interesting sov mechanic would have been if a TCU went in at gates and operated like a POS without a shield. Probably would need some significant EHP and fuel balancing to make it fun and interesting. Nevertheless, OP is still fail and should go back to trolling caod or whatever bridge he lives under.

One of the things that makes EVE so cool is that anybody can fly anywhere (except CCP space) at anytime and throw a monkey wrench into peoples playing with something as simple as a cloaked frigate. It is left up to the players to protect and defend their systems from hostile player character incursions through strength of arms. If an alliance or group is unable to secure their systems then they have to deal with the consequences of that.
