I'm happy with it. I didn't change that much though - mainly changed the pose a bit and did what I really wanted to do which was get the Minmatar logo in the background.

Yeah, some small tweaks to the face, lighter hair, and an adjusted pose that more closely resembles my 2003 pose. The smirk is smirkier and different lighting shows it off better. Thanks CCP!

Yep, much happier. Changed hair colour, toned the makeup down, made the pose more fascinating + zoomed further in and changed the light setup slightly to give some highlights. Thanks CCP!

I like the change that I made. The only issue is that there seems to be a glitched texture right under the lower lip that makes it seem like there's hair there, but overall I like the second version of me more.
edit: nevermind, it shows up in game for some reason but not on the forums.

Yeah there is definitively a discrepancy in the char creator between what makes a good 2d 'portrait' and the overall look of your 3d 'avatar'.
In close up you can see clearly the details and you create the person in your mind using these small details. But in the small picture the major features rule. So you really need to be able to zoom in and out to see your character in "new light".
In Scientific American there was this picture where at close-up a male was looking really angry and a woman was smiling. If you got up and went across the room to look at the same picture the smiling person was now the man and the female was frowning. As I was not able to see the small details it was the major features that dominated mostly shadow placement. It was very subtle in the pictures but enough to be the major factor what defined the picture when looking afar. |
