I think this is a fair question! Macro miners are screwing ore prices into the dirt, and you're continuing to mine? This isnt the real world! In eve you can sell that hulk to buy a raven and to run some missions and start making the big bucks.

Sell it to someone who actually thinks they can make money from it. Then pop the macro and him.

I have a better idea. Change the mining process to get rid of macro users.

Some people don't have the skills to fly your stupid Raven. When you can make 10 million an hour mining but only 5 million an hour plodding through missions, mining isn't so bad.
Also, I thought you were quitting? Stop being such a wuss and unsub. Please.

I mine becasue I't is still making me a nice profit. My alt has paid for it's hulk and then some and I've not really been putting as much effort in as I used to put into it and thats mining nothing more than Veldspar. |

If CCP made mining innvolve some semblance of thought, we might not see too many macros.
But botters run mission as well you know. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I mine because I find it relaxing, though I usually scan out a Grav site to strip.
I'm fully aware that I could make more money in missions, Minerals I mine are not free etc, but there's something to be said for flying about in a ship that you mined for, bought the BPO for, and built.
And I've not done too bad. I may not be rich in the grand scheme of things, but I've worked hard in slowly building up a stock of BPOs, a pile of minerals, and the skills to make it all worthwhile.
I do run missions as well though, I had a mad blitz through some level 4's recently to raise standings enough to get my refining tax down to 0%, but I always come back to the gentle buzzing of the strip miners.

yeah, put a heat map on asteroids so you have to direct your lasers towards the richer spots, if you just mine without directing you take a percent gain hit. I think im in to something.

I mine, I stockpile, I build, I replace my mains ships when they go boom, the excess becomes part of my trade portfolio.
It's still relativley profitable, my main gets dirt cheap ships and I get to read while I'm doing it. --------------------------------------------- Proudly posting with my Alt since 2009

I mine when I feel like it, very rare, because there are **** tonnes of things to do in this game some are more profitable some are more entertaining and others are somewhere between those 'extremes'. Here's a question for you why should players give up on an aspect of the game because CCP won't/can't do enough to stop the abuse there?

Edited by: Kesshisan on 24/01/2011 14:34:47 Because after the grav site is scanned down, I can make up to 15 mil an hour (usually I only net approx 5mil / hour) while watching a movie. I can't run missions and make the same amount while watching a movie.
Then again, it's not like I ONLY mine. I'm more of a builder/trader/hauler. I identify gaps in markets, and I fill those gaps, I fill those gaps thousands of m^3 at a time, or even 1 battlecruiser at a time.
I'm also into exploration. When I scan down grav sites that have ore only found in low sec, I hate to see it go to waste, so I'll mine it out. At least the low-sec ore that is. Of course my target is those juicy Radars, but I stop and check out every Grav, Mag, WH*, and Plex.
*I check out the WHs for high sec to high sec transfers, and to see if I can make any profit before the WH disappears. If it's to Low, Null, or WH space, I leave it alone unless I'm in a JC and a ship that doesn't cost me 60mil isk with only 1k ehp. :P
To summarize, I mine because I can mine AND do something else at the same time, and that something else is usually watching a movie. I also mine because I hate to see those low sec ores in high sec grav sites go to waste. Although I will be parking my mining boat and cargo haulers for the next 6 weeks or so with the upcoming fun in February. :D

i mine because i am watching tv and chatting with my corp buddies. sometimes we are actually watching the same shows from the same networks, and we talk about them.
mining is a social activity, and if you mine with nobody to talk to, you're doing it wrong.

Yes MNG, You suck (ingame).
Only 40% of the minerals on the market are gained through mining. The rest it through mission spoils reprocessing and drone reprocessing, mainly through the drone regions. Yes those mission runners/rat bots are the problem for low mineral prices.
A, I thought you hate mission runners or just PvE in general.
B,If there was no miners then you couldn't pad you killboard with those noobs. you flip in Akiainavas.
C, Didn't you WhaWhaRagequit over this.
D, this is gameÖ, It isnt about isk/hour.

Getting rid of mission loot would go a long ways towards making mining match up with running L4s. But then all the carebears will be mad.

This. Why turn the game into a job? I mine because I can read/study and make money at the same time. Also, it feels good to find a fully-stocked belt and leave it empty.
