Most of the people I encounter, and have encountered in the last 7 years, are honest, reasonable, rational adults.
The forums just emphasize the red-faced, sweating, screaming, raged out tinfoil crowd as being the majority. |

I'm not shure how honesty "pays" in this case , if you hadn't told them about it they would have never kwown and even if they did there is nothing they could have done about it. So in both case the outcome is the same. |

So a 14 day old character is able to strike it fairly rich.
Anyone find this a coincidence that this comes right after that PR fiasco going on with Somer Blink? |

So that leads to the question of is this a real character or just a PR stunt. Any Spelling, gramatical and literary errors made by me are included free of charge.

"We made a screwup" doesn't strike me as a likely PR stunt.
They can't exactly get money back when they screwup, so telling someone to keep it is just not being stupid.
That said - can we just consolidate all the lotto tinfoil into one thread? |

So Somer Blink is gambling.
And if you win then there is value to what you won. Given that ISK has real world value then you owe taxes on your winnings.
I don't see any license information on the site, is Somer Blink registered to operate in the US? Do they pay taxes on their "profits"?
If they don't and CCP is well aware that they use their game as a forum for online gambling....
Who am I kidding, I just hate having to block some new shuckster each day. Not like anyone is calling the feds over $600k US in online gambling transactions. |

Oh good lord :p
No, this isn't a post by us. Our error rate, over the last two years, is .05% - so if anyone is considering signing up with the idea that they might accidentally get an error windfall, I'd suggest we're not a good choice for them. :p
As to telling him to keep it - that's been our policy from the start. We could either try demanding it back, which would be pants-on-head silly and about as effective as a chocolate kettle, or tell them to keep it with our blessing and hopefully make a user happy that we didn't choose to be silly.
As to the coincidence of timing - there's over 51k users currently. A lot of them decide to make their own threads rather than just commenting on ours, both positive and negative. Sorry to all of GD who aren't gamblers for the associated spam with that. Somer Blink - The original microlottery site. |

Please place that call. Please record the reaction as you tell people who have real jobs that the videogame money being traded on a pretend lotto webpage isn't being properly taxed. |
