You should be able to find out the reason why you got nothing- was your fleet "not the primary contributing" one (not the same as the most damage) or whether the reward ration dropped to zero because of the number of pilots.

Originally by: Locupleto How we got off to a good start:
- We practiced on SISI until Vanguard sites were on snooze and cruise mode for us. We even experimented and have progress into Assault sites.
- We take our methods and tactics onto TQ.
- Of course on TQ you donÆt have everything you need on a whim available for 100 ISK. Our real fleet starts out less than optimal. We win we lose some, we tighten up our game ôfor realö.
- We have Vanguards on farm mode now.
Some tips:
You need a unified tanking strategy with logistic support. We are using a shield tank fleet with Basi and Scimi.
Fit ships like you are about to enter a tough fight. Any given ship must have high resists or even the logi canÆt keep you alive. Have some buffer as well, these NPC hit hard you need to hold out a few seconds for the logi to get to you. The NPC change targets so every ship must have a solid tank.
You need cap management. We typically have 3 or 4 ships with energy transfer to keep the logiÆs happy.
You are going to get jammed and neuted. Your fleet makeup must tolerate a ship falling out of the cap chain or a logi getting jammed or unable to rep because he is out of cap.
Voice comms are not-optional. Too much can happen in a short time to rely on typing.
Leadership bonuses are very nice and helpful. We are using a command ship and or T3 with links.
ECM works on these NPCÆs and we find them to be very helpful in our practice so far on assault sites.
ItÆs a good idea to practice with a crew on SISI first. More than just the ship composition you need to have your technique right. Players need to become accustom to using the watch lists, their distance to the gang, learning the NPCÆs, calling targets and hitting them, keeping an eye their own cap and tank, etc. If you are new to it or a veteran it helps to do this, get warmed up, get used to each other as a team.
We have yet to experience the complete failure of rewards mentioned in above posts. Have noticed many instances of random pilots entering our sites to loot either their losses or wrecks of other players who died there. HavenÆt seen these affect our reward yet. Not saying it couldnÆt happen and in fact donÆt rule it out.
Contrary to some opinions expressed here, we are enjoying Incursions and receiving rewards.
Worth repeating this so those complaining understand...
Lots of "pure pve" types thought they were uber. Rather than face the fact that they, in reality, suck. It seems they would much prefer to cry on forums about things being unfair instead of learning to adapt.

Hmm but whats the point? If I kill you in pvp my reward is getting to loot you and getting a killmail. If I run a lvl 4 mission or do sleepers my reward is ISK to buy more pvp ships with. So if there is no Reward people will not play it its that simple... Nobody spends hours of their time doing something that gives you Nothing If this is how they plan to leave it Incursions will be A Hughe failure but it only shows that CCP once again have not clue about what their player base is up too....

This isnt entirely about being rewarded, its also about clearing out a major problem with certain systems that you enjoy using. It's also about getting people together for a common cause to defeat something that's challenging. There's more to it than just giving a new thing to get rewards. Some of the best rewards are finding cool people to do things together as a group. But the reality is there are rewards and some of the LP stuff is very nice.

GREAT Customer support - thank-you CCP
2011.01.30 13:43:00 GM Orfeus ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi, I'm GM Orfeus.
Thank you for contacting customer support.
There was an issue with the site in question at the time but this is one of the very, very difficult cases where the specific information we need to confirm the issue isn't obtainable. Without the implicit confirmation we can't reimburse either as our strict reimbursement policy stipulates.
I'm truly sorry but due to the very many variables that would affect the rewards or the lack thereof we can't take action in this matter.
I'm truly sorry.
Sincerely, GM Orfeus EVE Online Customer Support Team

Well then I think you must be doing something wrong..
I have not been in gang combat for years, not flown in a group for a long time and have very few contacts left in eve from my old days.
However I wanted to give these incursions a try.
I fitted a ship that i believed useful and headed out. Over the course of the last week
- I have join 5 random PUGs - Lost no ships myself, seen two bs down and a logi down first day that's it - Mostly Vanguard sites with some assault. - Downed Mothership (fleet did not win but had 50+ members working together)
I would not expect to farm these with pug but playing vanguard mostly at a good speed, and did some assaults this morning.
I think incursions has been done well. the reward logic is flawed but it is required. You can not reward everyone or you will just have campers. Yes this forces you in to groups but PUGs are not that bad and generally I have found to be capable.

Heh, seems the majority of replies posted in this thread is mainly a bunch of sarcastic immature remarks. You all should take your own advice and go back to WOW. Also I don't see any of you posting any stats or any helpful constructive replies. Mainly it's just trolling with 'It's not about the rewards' or 'It's about teamwork' or 'Go to Test Server and practice first' etc.
Yeah right, you people are way high.
I agree with the original post, time spent working the Incursion just isn't worth it. Doesn't matter how you try to justify it, no sense in doing the Incursions if there's no rewards. Plain and simple.
I know a lot of players in game and most said they will just ignore it and move to another area if it occurs in their current constellation. I also know a couple players who already went into the affected constellation (High Sec) just to check out the belt rats and got their arses handed to them rather quickly.
Sure, there will probably be a few groups actually doing the Incursions but the majority of players just won't bother with it. Especially if players have to go into low or 0.0 systems just to clear the Incursion out of the constellation when they normally wouldn't even go there.
The Incursion content is just another attempt at trying to force players into non consensual PvP situations through the guise of PvE content with no just reward for time or the high risk involved doing them.

Edited by: Jokus Balim on 30/01/2011 23:21:39 I have done a few incursions now, all with random fleets. The first day cost a Rattlesnake, cause I expected something similar to level 4s, while some mean guy had the great idea to concord the whole logistics chain that supported my poor Rattler's tank. Boom goes the faction battleship.
Then I switched to my sturdy old pvp Dominix, modified it slightly and came back for more random fleets. Most were vanguard encounters. I have yet to see a ship explode again in a fairly organized fleet, even without a single T2 logistics ship in it. It was close sometimes, but it works. Rewards were always paid with the exception of the supercarrier kills. But I wasn't in the biggest fleet at those fights, so I didn't expect it actually.
Rewards were no problem. A single vanguard in about 20 minutes is no big problem in a random fleet. That about 30 million ISK/hour, LP not included. Organized and bigger fleets will have a better yield. So these things can compete with other activities.
I met quite a few people in those random fleets who spend more than a few hours in incursions, too, and who had similar experiences. Blow up once, rethink, **** those nasty Sansha on the second try.
Conclusion: Incursions are fine. Not a lot of bugs yet. Both fun and rewards included. True to the premises "Adapt or die!", "Harden the f*** up!" and this old classic.
TL;DR: Dear OP, you fail.
EDIT: Besides, when I logged off today, two of the three newly spawned highsec incursions were beaten, the third only few hours from being done. It won't take too long till the first people demand an increase of the difficulty level.

Run them in low sec if you want to be able to keep others out of your incursion otherwise keep on keeping on with site jackers same as mission runners have to put up with ninja salvagers.

I ran about 30 vanguards in various incursions over the weekend with my alt's corp.
1) Always got paid ISK on completion 2) Always had PENDING LP applied 3) Received LP from the incursion that was actually knocked down. 4) We went into a few sites and scooped loot and/or went over the top of others and got the reward because we were ORGANISED, had DPS and most important - 3 very well setup logi with pilots who can use them (read basically max skilled). We also used our full complement of 10 pilots...
My alt made 350 million, has 18600 LP paid out, and more pending if the whiners here can get their act together and put some downward pressure on the influence (we would get it down some and then log and it would be back to 100% later).
BTW - we are a FW corp and have used corp members exclusively or mostly with otehr decent militia pilots to fill numbers and been fine. Other then the first night OMG lol event (running BS into Assult @ 100%), we have had 1 failure which cost ships when organsied - and that was with a PUG setup filling our numbers.
TL;DR They can be done IF you get organised. But most people are in the constellation incursion channel going "X me" with no info on what they have to bring, and with ships that are setup to pve l4 sansha missions (massive resist holes, lack of ECCM, no buffer and trying to active rep rather then RR).

My MY i earned more than that goofing off in missions with out having to fleet up with a bunch of fanbois posting here.
What i dont like about it is they are trying to force you to play with azzhats like ones posting here how great it is. Except if ccp puts a Turd in the game yall would be saying how great that is.

If incursions didn't force us to do that they'd just be missions. The need to team up and use fleets very similar to what you'd bring to pvp is the core feature of incursions. If mission runners in their failboats could do them they'd be completely pointless; just more of the same.

So what. Go have a fap or something.
There are bugs and some finessing is required, that's games I am affraid.
Acting like a petulant child because you lost ships and didn't get your reward is embarassing for you and the community in general.
The Kakol incursion failed due to a bug with the Sansha MOM site not despawning and I don't see anyone crying.
Oh well, life goes on. Help CCP fix it don't lambast them like this is some great insult.
It's not like they had an "Implementing incursions in your MMO - For dummies" lying around that they refused to read. This is all new. Even SiSi can't predict everything.
Edit: spelling.

I would say the Incursions were actually usefull and fun.
Having been in 0.0 and mission running both it did force me back into
a) joining a fleet b) relying on others as a team
It was actually fun to be back in a gang. A few gangs were disorganized (both FC fault but primarily pilot setups and random xups).
It reminded me that small fleet PVP or in this case PVE can be fun.
I would do it again and would look for familiar pilots I saw the first time around.
Good job CCP. Needs a few fixes or info updates but was worth it.

I am glad you're enjoying but don't get your hopes up. Factional Warfare needs a few fixes, and has done so for a very LONG time.
I think the cycle goes something like this:
*release buggy version to SiSi *ignore user feedback and release buggy version to Tranq to meet deadline *apply patches to clear the criticla errors *ignore product as it is now flagged as complete *start working on next expansion

It seems that CCP did a better job here and released a product that got more polishing. And they even seem to overhaul implemented stuff. Look at PI. */me becomes a CCP fanboi*
