You should care about it as a courtesy since it was the request.
The reason I asked that people not post their own portraits is that they can't be objective. Your portrait is personal to you. You spent time tweaking it and obviously it turned out how you wanted it or else you wouldn't have clicked Finalize.
Plus, it's just self congratulatory to post your own portrait.

Nothing wrong with using the maximum size. It lets you see all the details.
Vain is when you create another thread about portraits when it already has hundreds of them.

I've thought this one was excellent since the first time I saw it:
And the sculpting and lighting is awesome on this one but they got betrayed by how the hair shadows render.

Tadaa #2: Mr Vardec Crom.
I rated this guy really high in the rating thread. Next to the fact that he looks like Dr Gregory House (!!!), the composition is really great; the bit gloomy shadows and his expression really fit remarkably well. Also the evil right eye suits the general idea pretty well.

I'm rather fond of Tenna T's avatar.
The washed out lighting and dark background don't just give the shot a lovely computer monitor glow they also help to sell a more realistic and less plastic face. The very straightforward look on her face makes me think of a slightly tousled and groggy pilot that's just rolled out of bed to hastily snap a shot for her Pilot's Licence.
Some avatars may be sharper and some avatars may look prettier but I've yet to see any as full of character or as well thought through as this one.

What I donŠt really like about that one (and a lot of other avatars posted here, also true for my own) is that the light is quite straightforward and the character is completely seperated/not interacting with the background.
While with the two examples I posted the person and background seem to be a whole, they could be pictures from a movie or very high resolution game.
Just my opinion, ofc.
