Originally by: Mavnas I must be missing something. Even with Furies instead of normal missiles, that's only 670 DPS. I'm pretty sure every T1 battleship can manage that.
His doesn't have 4 BCSes like the real isk-printing Tengus do. Using the probe subsystem with no probes takes a low and gives a mid. And the buffer sub on an active tank
That being said, Tengus can kill the small **** fast enough to make it comparable, if not faster. And if you're living in sov 0.0 with Sanctums available, it's not unheard of to assign fighters as well, giving some truly ludicrous isk/H.

I can see how assigning fighters to a ship that can tank well would do that. Though at that point several command ships can manage the same feat.

The Legion leavs a lot to be desired imo. Only fit I have found to be remotly usefull is a buffer fit with HAMs, something kind of like this:
[Legion, New Setup 1] Damage Control II Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Imperial Navy Medium Armor Repairer Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive Medium Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 Federation Navy Stasis Webifier True Sansha Warp Scrambler
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Torrent Assault Missile Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Torrent Assault Missile Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Torrent Assault Missile Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Torrent Assault Missile Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Torrent Assault Missile
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Legion Defensive - Augmented Plating Legion Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer Legion Offensive - Assault Optimization Legion Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix Legion Propulsion - Chassis Optimization
Make okish bait (with slaves). Sure, I could dual 1600 plate it for a lot more buffer, but for what I used it for this was ok, and the rep is handy on excursions away form stations. All in all its just a glorified Drake tho.
I perfer the Tengu. The Tengu has excelent agility combined with great dps and range. I use a kiting version with a TS web to dictate range. HAM range of 30km is very sweet imo, combined with ok speed and agility and still 120k ehp. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I dont think anyone is going to argue that the Legion is superior to the Tengu (or the Loki or Proteus for that matter) so Im not sure what you are all discussing now.
CCP is NOT going to buff the Legion either. In every ship class, one race has to draw the short straw - its the CCP 'method' (if you can call it that - personally I just call it a lack of creativity).
I can see the game designers sitting around now with their coffee's in hand asking "Ok, so which race is going to get the suck T3? We've been beating on the Gallente for a while now....whelp we better draw straws, not sure what to do on this one"

I still prefer the Legion to both the Loki and Proteus, but I suspect that's because of the difference in weapons systems. |

Well one of the few Legion pvp fits I have seen that I actually like and could see me flying requires a 3% grid implant or ditch neuts 150k EHP 400+ dps plus neuts can change the EANM for T2 with a loss of EHP if needed. This doesnt have the 900+ dps a proteus can put out but its still pretty reasonable

is better off shield tanked
ewar subsystem doesn't work against capless weapons (and if you are going to use it on a carrier, you are going to need more than yourself)
the 6th turret high sacrifices any tanking ability you have for 10 more dps
needs MOAR powergrid
for PVP you are better off buffertanking it than fitting the reps
the remote repair subsystem drastically reduces your armor hp
the stealth subsystem works better with AUTOCANNONS!!!
with a duel rep, 2 ENAMs and good skills your EHP is under 20000 so its possible for you to be alphaed by a arty tempest using EMP rounds
if you are neuted and have lasors, it is more effective for the enemy to ignore you as you are no longer a threat and that buffer tank is going to take a while to eat though anyways
missile subsystem best subsystem
Drake Legion subsystems augmented plating tactical targeting capacitor regeneration matrix assault otimization chassis optimization
lows shield power relay II x5 caldari navy ballistic control system x2
meds caldari Navy invul x2 caldari navy large shield extender x2
highs heavy assault missile launcher II x5
rigs medium core defence field purger II x3 800 dps tank according to ETF
Wow, that's just a whole lot of anti-legion propaganda. Let's start with:
Quote: with a duel rep, 2 ENAMs and good skills your EHP is under 20000 so its possible for you to be alphaed by a arty tempest using EMP rounds
It has 18785 EHP with just the Nano Injector subsystem. Kind of hard to belive 2 EANMs wouldn't increase that by quite a bit more than that.
Quote: is better off shield tanked
Maybe if you happen to have a crystal set or you want to squeeze out every last bit of range and DPS you can.
[Legion, TankTestCheaper] Medium Armor Repairer II Corpum A-Type Energized Thermic Membrane Corpum A-Type Energized Reflective Membrane Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Medium Armor Repairer II Imperial Navy Heat Sink Imperial Navy Heat Sink

Medium Nanobot Accelerator I Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Legion Defensive - Nanobot Injector Legion Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer Legion Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix Legion Offensive - Liquid Crystal Magnifiers Legion Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
478 DPS with Navy Multi, 786 cap stable armor tank. Do that with a shield tank on a legion. No, really I'd like to see it.
Quote: for PVP you are better off buffertanking it than fitting the reps
Isn't that true of every ship though?
Quote: if you are neuted and have lasors, it is more effective for the enemy to ignore you as you are no longer a threat and that buffer tank is going to take a while to eat though anyways
Yes, if only there were some sort of mod that refills your cap. Oh wait...
tbh m8, with the legion fit you posted, which is obviously pve, your tank and your dps numbers should be the other way around, and you'd still be outperformed greatly by a pve BS

Yeah, the point was to prove it could tank and still do some sort of DPS. There's not really a good reason I can see to use a T3 over a PvE BS unless you have a long slog to a gate in your mission.

Double the cap usage bonus to 20% per level.
Or

Sorry Mavnas, but that fit only works in EFT: Without a tracking enhancer, or tracking computer loaded with a tracking script, that Legion won't really do a lot of damage (even with max skills). Also without a web, and a boost to tracking speed, you'll get eaten alive by webbing drones and frigates...
IMHO the Legion is an excellent exploration ship -maybe not as good as the Tengu but for a laser guy it's about my best option. It's also fun to fly in level 4 missions, although fun doesn't equal efficient

I don't have access to my mission running fit, sorry, but I use lasers and here's the tank:
One MAR (dead space preferred)
Two active hardeners for the primary damage type (or passive if your armor compensation skills are to at least lvl3 and you have some ISK to spend).
One active hardener for the secondary damage type (or passive if your armor compensation skills are to at least lvl3 and you have some ISK to spend).
Add a nanobot accelerator or two, get Amarr Strategic Cruiser Defense to lvl4 (should max it out) and that's pretty much all the tank you need for running level 4 missions. Just remember to kill the webbing / scramming frigates first...

Yeah, it's not a practical fit. With that tank there's not much getting eaten alive though. If there's a scram, you might be stuck for awhile .
I use a legion for high sec exploration, and even with imperfect skills and no tracking mods I have no problems hitting normal frigs at >10 km. I can see how some of the elite ones in L4s would ruin your day. (Spider Drones and Merc Wingmen come to mind.)
Problem as I see it with any of the T3s is that they don't do four digit DPS at massive range like an uber gank-BS. Unprobability for low sec missioning and movement for the odd mission where you have to move is about the only thing they bring that a BS can't have.

So like. What ship gives 4 digit dps to 100km of range?
Tengu arguably has the best damage projection among all ships, able to hit 130km with full 700-800 dps . Less vs other damage type.
Tengu earns 240-300m isk/hour w/ no risk vs Normal BS which earns only 80m isk/hour. Thats a BIG thing for a tengu to have that normal BS does not.

Ok, going back through my EFT fits. Abbadon does 908 at 86+31.

OK, so it does either four digit DPS at 50km or so or DPS similar to a Tengu at 100km+.
Apoc can do 781 gun DPS at 64+48 with tachs, or 659 at 87+19 with Scorch.
For comparison Tengu with 4 BCS and Scourge Fury is 715 DPS, 113 range before rigs. Considering travel time out to 100+ km, that's going to be a lot lower unless you carefully count volleys.

Drone Offensive + 1 Turret slot (OR better a real laser-damage (5% peer level) bonus as you can fit it with Artis and get the same (or even more) DPS out of it CAP FREE).

Recon (1 of 3) is a mission where you have to fly 20km to a gate while ships spawn and attack you. The level 4 version is worth the massive LP of a good L4 mission, while it can be completed in a frigate in about 20 seconds. (Less now that you can fit MWDs)
