For PVP with the Proteus and maybe a Legion would it be better to active or passive tank them?
The notion I am running with at the moment is to passive tank when in a big fleet with logistics and RR and active tank in a gang without any logistics...

Unless 1v1, passive is almost always better.

"It depends."
Oh and I don't really care, but a lot of people on this forums get their panties in a bunch when you mix up passive tanking (only possible with shields) with buffer tanking (having loads of EHP).

That's a pretty good notion. The main problem with it is that the rigs that allow for good buffer tanking (trimarks) are different from those that allow active armor tanking to be effective (auxiliary nano pumps and nanobot accelerators).

Garmon 100MN legion has 95k HP (without Slaves) and 1900 active tank.
Is this active or passive?

95.5/1900 is fit you've posted + ganglink Legion + strong exile + overload + 3 hardwirings (not slaves).

Just remember that when flying a brick, you will know you are going to die long before you actually do. Active setups are not as clear cut unless you are neuted.

With overloaded hardener this is one of the biggest buffers you can get. With slaves, gang boost etc it is over 500k.

You can squeeze a 10m isk medium 'Gattote' cap booster on with a PG4 if you don't have the slaves omega.
That AB legion is crazy but I still only see 1462 dps reps with strong exile, heat, numon+zet4000+imp nav noble and a 4x ganglink legion. 1567 if you heat the therm hardener. Heck of an EM hole still. |
