I have unselfishly created this thread in order to allow open and honest discussion/debate on the matter of cake Vs bread. Please begin.

All types of course! It would be ethically unsound of me to advocate debate on such matters without being inclusive of all food items that fall within both the class of bread and that of cake. To avoid confusion, discuss and debate the facts you know. For example, should you want to extol the virtues of short-bread, yet feel unsure whether it can truly be classified as 'bread', then refrain from putting any material on said item forward.
I hope this is clear for everyone. Let the debate commence.

Well, as bread is harder than cake (the wussy white bread does not count, I mean real bread), bread is superior to cake.

AFAIK, when I sit down infront of the fireplace with a good book and some armor hardeners, I usually opt for the cake variant, as I find it's texture and glossy-but-not-yet-gleaming topping better suited to the usually low EM resistance of my tanking setup.
IMO,ofcourse. (\_/) (X.x) gank -----Tihs iz gank bunneh. Employ at gates for max bunnage. |

Edited by: Hakera on 27/01/2005 00:04:59 with bread you need to combine its attack with another player like jam or butter, whereas cake can go it alone. Therefore cake is superior in all ways.

You have clearly never sampled Tech II Bread. It goes perfectly on its own. ----------- Fighting for the ideals of freespace, posthuman ethics, and rock & roll. |

A jaffa cake is indeed a cake. The way to tell it is not a biscuit (And therefore not subject to 17.5% VAT as a luxury item, as choclate bicuits are) is that when they go stale bicuits go soft and cakes go hard.
It was proven in some long winded court case. As a visual aid the makers of jafa cake even made a giant 12" diameter version which they sliced up and gave everyone in court a slice .

let us make a serious comparison in this issue:
Bread - can be eaten plain or with a topping such as jelly or peanut butter - can be toasted, thus immediately expanding the list of possible toppings - can be grilled, with cheese inbetween - can serve as a hot dog bun in a pinch - can serve as a hamburger bun as well - can be cut into cubes for fondue - let's not forget sandwiches.. the combinations here are simply innumerable - a hard baguette can serve as a weapon
Cake - can have icing or sprinkles, or both! - can hold candles for celebration - could be fruitcake (this is a negative, not a positive) - could be snacky cakes (definately a positive) - cake donuts, yum - CHEESECAKE! YUM!
i know i'm forgetting some things, so feel free to expand this list. thus far bread appears to be in the lead.. however, if you asked me what i'd like for dessert, i certainly wouldn't say a sandwich or toast..

Quite clearly, cake is superior to bread.
Except in the circumstances suggested by Mr Calvert, of course.
