Honestly, it's all part of the game. If you own a ship, there will be someone out there willing to pop it. Risk and danger is part of this game. As a miner/industrialist myself, if the dangers in highsec were taken away, it would take something away from eve itself. It's really not hard to chuck a few armour plates on your mining ship or chosen hauler, which will give you the time to warp away - negating the object of desire of the ganker. Fitting your ship with no defences of any kind is foolhardy, risky, and makes you a yummy target to the suicide gankers. They get 1 shot before thier ass gets kicked by CONCORD, if you can resist it - it makes a big loss for them. Then they wont be so willing to try again.

Your post... it makes my eyes bleed. Paragraphs are your friend.
That said... your troll attempt falls flat. This topic has been beaten to death. Go for something more original next time.
On the off-chance that this is [yet another] serious whine about high-sec "security"...
forget everything you know about other MMOs with regards to "security" and "griefing." They do not apply here. In EvE, no place is safe against those who are truly determined to kill you and/or make a profit. In high-sec, you are SAFER than in low-sec. In low-sec you are [hypothetically speaking] SAFER than in null-sec. In null-sec there are no rules except those you can enforce by force.
To get to the heart of your... "idea"... it goes against the non-consensual and "sandbox" aspect of EvE. Everyone is free to do what they will... be it Industry, or PvP. There are just "penalties" for doing what you do.
Example 1: As a pure industrialist, your skills will allow you to essentially "make" ISK. However, you will be weak in the realm of combat and against players who specialize in it. Example 2: As a pure PvPer, your skills will allow you to kill other ships effectively. However, your ability to make ISK will be [hypothetically] less than that of a "pure" industrialist.
In a nutshell... if people are willing to pay the penalties for their actions, let them do it.
This is not to say you are powerless against combat types. If you are a successful industrialist, use your ISK to hire Mercenaries to exact a little revenge. If you have friends who are competent in the ways of PvP, have them pay your enemies a little "visit." If you simply wish to avoid ship to ship combat in general, keep your head low and try not the attract too much attention (i.e. don't carry around extremely valuable stuff in a ship that is slow and/or easily gankable). _______________________

Honestly it is safe, if just like real life tho u need to know what to do and what not to do...
Always be at least partially aligned to somthing and when somebody that seems like they could have less than good intentions warps in take action by gtfo'ing. If im mining in my soft lil Retreiver and a couple dessies with the same corp tag warp in, i get out and save my ship and while i wait for the 'heat' to cool off i take a break, play somthing else, worse somes to worse i scrap my mining and go off to new things.
It really isnt that big of a deal, sui-gankers gave miners a VERY nice warning since they said they were starting Hulkaggedon on Feb. 1 when it was still like Jan.
Even if u do get ganked, it isnt the end of the world. The only true loss is one that u dont learn from.
One suggestion is to scan (yes scanning in high sec oh my!) for 'hidden' asteroid belts that usually contain low-sec ores, just doing that should keep u 99% safe.
God Luck on ur mining woes :)

Safety is relative. Just as a guy with a gun can run amok in a department store, so can a guy with a Tempest kill you on Jita 4-4.
The penalties for doing so are too low though (ie. there are none but a few ISK and standings). ISK is readily available and standings can be gained in 100% safety in bore-sec.
Solution: Move all sec.gain activity to low-sec.
Let the high-sec and weekend "pirates" come mingle with the really, really rotten apples if they want to return to high-sec after the umpteenth suicide gank ..
Perfect balancing with none of the draconian measures otherwise suggested to "fix" suicides

First of all, why are there html tags in your post?
Secondly, hi sec is way too safe.

The reality is that you are indeed safe, 99% of the time. The whole hi-sec experience is misguiding. Hi-sec missionning can lead someone to believe that if his ship can take a whole pocket of NPCs, it means his ship is a good ship. In hi-sec, the more SP you have and the more expensive your ships are, the more successful you will be. Outside hi-sec, this approach can only lead to failure.
It's unfair to give crap to people who doesn't know better. Go tell to a hi-sec bear that he should cut down his ISK/hour rate in the super rare case he gets suicide ganked.
I'd rather ask CCP to change how you play in hi-sec.

Not even worth discussion, bloated sense of entitlement, ignorance of how the game really is. You don't speak for all industrial types, since those with half a brain know how to get around such events as Hulkageddon and are already preparing for it. You only speak for the whining, lazy types who think they shouldn't have to adapt their way of thinking to suit the situation. There are numerous things to do that allow you to circumvent becoming a target for the Hulkageddon gankers, but you're too lazy or ignorant to even try to figure out what they are and it's those pilots that are the intended target of Hulkageddon.
Welcome to EVE, if you don't like it, the door is that way.

Hi. Welcome to EVE.
First, I hope you posted that eye-searing wall-of-text with an ALT. There are a few people that will look you up in game and make it a point to come blow you out of space for a good chuckle because you posted something like this.
Second, you have to understand that one of the core concepts of the game is that no-one is safe from pvp at any time outside of a space station dock. There is at least one exception to prove the rule, but for the most part if you are out in space, you are a potential target.
There's a significant portion of EVE that enjoys spending their time and making their money shooting rocks that cannot defend themselves. There's a somewhat smaller, but no less significant portion of EVE that enjoys spending their time and making their money by shooting players that cannot defend themselves.
One of the key aspects of EVE is managing your risk. Don't fly what you can't afford to watch blow up, don't fly where you are being hunted without preparing to defend yourself in some way.

We regret to inform you that CONCORD has retired its overbearing mother pilots due to incessant nagging and menopause. Please note CONCORD has opened a small portal called "Hello Kitty Online" where the facts of EVE life are no longer applicable and you can live your life in a stress free bubble environment, also note that CONCORD cannot protect you from unexpected psychological trauma should you stray from HKO.

And that's where you need to adjust your expectations.
It's high security, not complete security. "High" in and of itself is a relative measure, as someone mentioned, and the security in highsec is most certainly higher than in low-sec or nullsec. Thus it is correctly named.
Quote: i know that there are 10s of thousands of other players with these same concerns, and many long time players who feel ccp won't do anything to make this game better for industrial types.
Now, you do realise that it would be better for the industrial types if more ships blew up, right? ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |
