Originally by: Igerua In Russia a lot of guys spend evening either drinking or playing computer games since we lack proper entertainment infrastructure. You won't find many decent cafes, cinema theaters, places for children to hang out after school, etc. especially away from capital (Moscow). Another reason is that people simply don't make enough money to go on holidays or to invite their spouse to a restaurant at least 2-3 times a month. Most of the cash goes to pay for rent (86% of young people rent or live with parents and can't afford to buy their own flat) and whatever is left is spent on food and clothes. Internet on the other hand is wide spread and is very affordable, especially in big cities.
So you get plenty of guys in the evenings flying spaceships, 'raiding' in WoW, and doing stuff in some other popular MMOs out there. Russian players tend to stick together since they prefer to play in groups (more fun, more rewarding). And since most of us struggle with English - non Russian speaking players are not allowed in those groups.
TLDR
Nothing to do but to fly the internet spaceship.
So that's basically it, botting has nothing to do with it. All major alliances run bots since CCP allows that. They do it not for profit but for the simple reasoning 'Why not make extra isk to burn on pvp while I'm asleep?'

russian pattern:
they live in their lil' corner of the universe. people go "GAAAAAAAAAH DIE RUSSIANS!" russians retreat and regroup in hell. russians return and go "AAAAAAAAAAAAARRGH MOTHERLAND!" russians take over their old home and in the way happen to conquer the conqueror. they resume to live in their lil' corner of the universe.
rinse and repeat.
tbh, one of the unspoken rules of EVE is simply "don't **** with the russians". ---

If russians dominate like the OP says, the only reason is because they are stronger in game than the americans and europeans.

Racism is not the word your looking for (thinks of a certain Star Wars scene)
rac+ism: hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.
race: a group of persons related by common descent or heredity.
Prejudice fits better with what you are saying.
prej+u+dice: unreasonable feelings, opinions, or attitudes, especially of a hostile nature, regarding a racial, religious, or national group.

i think its great that areas of new eden can be filled with different whole races of people that speak another language to the game. being swarmed by a russian fleet for the first time was interesting lol. being unable to understand local chat. gave more essence of a foreign threat :D or more that i was in foreign space :P and unwelcome lolz. cold harsh universe.

And how is it different from the macro's running in the northern regions? Under european(led by a serbian) and american(hey goons & testies) control.
If you go in out of the way parts of the north you will see bots behaving the exactly same way as they do in the rest of the eve universe. Except that their owners benefit from the best JB network in the game.

It is a double edged sword though, yes, they kick ass at EVE, but then again, the best they can achieve with their lives is to kick ass at a video game, which is kinda sad.
Unlike you, who can become an astronaut, movie star and a brain surgeon at the same time.
Well, I have my military service and my degree. Nothing special, but still more of an accomplishment than playing a video game well. By the way, real men biomass when they emoragequit.

As we all know, EVE is not dominated by Russians. It's dominated by the people of Iceland.
Same difference.
Link
" ... The early leaders of Rus' were most likely a Scandinavian warrior-elite that ruled a majority of Slavic subjects"(" ...In common English usage, Finland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Greenland are often grouped with Scandinavia")
" ... the three Varangian (Viking) brothers named Rurik (the oldest), Sineus, and Truvor established themselves in Novgorod, Beloozero and Izborsk, respectively".
Etc.
Them vikings sure got about.

I've never met a happy-go-lucky Russian. Never. I don't think I ever will, either; I don't think it's in their DNA to be a happy people. They are industrious and proud and extremely hard-working with a strong sense of camaraderie and family...which makes them perfect for taking over massive swaths of space in Eve.
They also have the best symphony orchestras in the world. While the Italians are playing perfectly but with no soul or feeling, Russians nearly reinvent the instrument. There's a lot the world can learn from Russians, as long as it doesn't have anything to do with individual rights or quality of life, hehe.

That would not be racism. Stop using the word when you don't know what it means.
I dont think thats the issue, I think this can be blamed on WoW where if you ever say the word Chinese Farmer in Trade/forums you can get banned or warned by a GM/mod for being racist -------- Dammit, they killed the post where Sreegs says personal attacks are against the rules. I wanted to lol at him for that |

Statistically speaking, there should be about twice as many Americans, however, it's more like 9 times as many. Thus, I'd say the Americans are the problem and not the Russians.
