I would have thought it goes without saying, but please people..
NEVER pay these guys. 99 times out of 100 they kill you anyway.
Why lose your money AND your ship? Instead of paying off the
pirates, why not invest that money in some nice warp core stab-
ilizers and insta bookmark sets instead?

ummmmm no? Sure, some people have a reputation for this, but i know that i always let people go when they pay the ransom (or if they can prove they don't have the cash) , and that many others do. Hell, i ransomed a wolf earlier and he'd been shooting me before i opened the convo and even though he shut his guns off i thought he was still shooting me so i killed him, without realizing he had sent the money. So i sent him 15mil back (was a 5mil ransom) and escrowed him the loot from his can. Do you want to stop that sort of thing too? It's not the pirate getting hurt when you don't pay.

I'm getting sick of this. Where do you get this figure 99 times out of 100? Has it happened to you? Did m0o do it to you?
If Siddy ransomed someone and then killed them after they paid he would be dealt with severely. m0o will not intentionally dishonor any deals or ransoms made. If someone from m0o ransoms you then kills you after you pay, please contact Madcap Magician or Lord Zap and they will sort it out.
FYI, if you are concerned about m0o's presence in your area, you can contact either of the above individuals about working out a deal for us to set you to +10.

I wasn't singling out m0o for this kind of behavior, Sochin. I was referring to "pirates" in general. I mean you have to
admit some do operate this way. If some do, if this were to happen to me I'm going to assume the worst. My ship is
insured, after all. My ISK isn't. Anyway, no offense to your crew.

eh, as far as we can tell that didnt actually happen. Noone in corp knows anything about this, not to mention the fact that we don't ever give "pass numbers" and wouldn't have any way to confirm a "pass" was legit. The whole pass thing is really unusual, not to mention the guy never said what member supposedly sold him the pass and who killed him.

taking on a raven in a tempest allready takes guts and balls.
and about being low on cap after he picked up all the loot i think hes cap was allready reloaded if not he has to be one hell of a noob.
his shields should have been reloaded aswell,wich doesnt matter if his armor or something was allready at 50%.
armor at 50% or structure at 50% if you're in a shield tanked ship and someone breaks your tank you are dead anywayz just takes an extra 5 to 10 seconds to kill the armor and structure.
my conclusion this noob got owned bigtime.

couldnt ccp impliment some kind of paid ransom/contract whereby on payingto individual corp they are then unable to be targeted by that corp for next ten mins or so much like the criminal flagging is now.......people would then gladly pay knowing they arent just gonna get popped afterwards

Well here is one that did that although it was probably a mistake however he didn't make good afterwards. Unfortunatly it only takes a very small number of incidents to make most people not want to risk the humiliation of loosing thier ship, pod and being scammed for a ransom too.
Maybe a lower ransom price would encourage more people, say 5mil a ransom instead of 20mil, as if you have a BS then 5 mil is nothing but 20mil is considerable. Just a thought.

you're actually totally wrong. Most pirate corps I know of that have been around a while, honor their word when ransoming. I know I do, every time. Maybe some of the kiddie pirate corps don't but most that I know of do.

We killed an armageddon worth something like 150-200M recently, cause he refused to pay. Its kinda tough to refuse the financial difference between a 20M ransom, and losing a 150M ship isn't it. Even after insurance that would have been close to a 100M loss (after re-equipping new ship too).

Id have to admit that was pretty amazing, or that raven pilot was just a complete moron. You can even look at the amount of damage siddy was doing, that one hit of 23 damage  , did the guy just sit there and take it?
