Hulkageddon is fun.
Why we love Helicity
The guy from the last video was still sitting at the belt in his pod a couple hours later so we called bot and decided somebody needed to confiscate his implants.
Bot gets podded.
Enjoy, Dirtbag
Edit: Fixed bad linkage.

First of all, as manufacturer but also minerals producer I wanted to thank this initiative. I earned about 40% more than usual in these last weeks.

Doesn't the API also give all alt names away as well?
API keys gives out:
- All your alt names - All your emails (it could be inconvenient if they contain 0.0 meeting coordinates for an alliance op) - All your POSes - All your stuff for sale or sold - How much you earned or lost - Your skills - Where you keep every item, BPO and ship you got
Quote:
I was just looking at the killboard, and a lot of those being ganked deserve to be ganked. No tanks whatsoever on their ships. If you would at least put a tank on your ship, you MIGHT survive long enough for Concord to show up, lol.
You don't get how people make money with botting. They raise lots of inexpensive throwaway bots, not expensive "pretend to save" bots. A Mackinaw is a piece of sh!t however you tank it, a guy that wants to kill it, will kill it. If he fails he can just return in a suicide battleship or similar.
Finally, a little annotation of mine about Hulkageddon: if CCP keeps doing nothing, this is just a fun exercise of futility.
A small macroer with 5 Mackinaws (i.e. the worst money making bots of all) can lose all of them every day and still make a little profit at the end of the month.

If you really care that much about the info the API will give Helicity, just use a fresh alt with director roles in your corp. That solves most of the problems.
The only issues left are:
Originally by: Vaerah Vahrokha

POS locations are easy to get anyway. And just don't send any important alliance mails during the event. Problem solved. ______

If you are doing it in highsec, dont bother with warp scrams.
Im flying a Rupture with 4x 425s, 2 HAMs and low with gyros/BCUs
There isnt long enough to even try to run in a Hulk/Industrials before CONCORD shows up and blows, you just add everything you can for a fast kill.
and yes, overload everything.

1. It's was proven last year HG barely budged the mineral basket. We saw a slight increase in Hulk/Mackinaw hull costs, mainly do to price gouging.
2. You've obviously never killed botting, cloaky Ravens in 0.0. You'll get tons of hatemail, primarily in slavic languages. And these Ravens aren't T2 fit...it's pure deadspace or faction.

i have to agree. do not hand over your api key. for one, look at what it is being used for. exploiting defenceless industrials for cheap thrills. and that is what she is telling you up front. think of all the shady **** she will do with them behind your back. she is going to find out who your alts are, what skills you have, how much isk you have, all your market transactions, all your buy and sell orders(most likely to out/under bid you), who you have given isk to, the list goes on and on. it is just one baby step away from handing over your log in details and account sharing is a bannable offence. makes you wonder what the penalty for api key sharing is.
bottom line is that it is unsafe. be safe and don't do it.

FYI, this is actually all I can see:
http://hulkageddon4.machine9.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/what-i-can-see.png
But you don't have to submit your key *shrug* nobody is forcing you to compete for prizes if you don't want to.
But it's simple fact that I spend entire days deleting fake mails in previous editions and I'm simply not going to do that anymore.
Now we have API verified killmails, so we know they are all legit :)

more like fake prizes. that or it is a giant scam to get fools to donate only for the donations to never reach the winners and just line your filthy pockets. come to think of it, i am pretty sure no real people we paid out the last three years. the only fake mails you have to deal with are the ones you make for you dummy alts so you get to keep it all.
but hey, just hand over your isk, assets and api keys to a pirate folks. nothing fishy about that... right?

well he probably gives out a small portion of the prize pool to outsiders, to appear to be legit. the rest can go to all pirate friends or alts so they can continue to highfive him and make him feel better about his sad life
plus you could make a healthy chunk of isk making a database of all the information you stole off apis ad selling it.

It looks like the only people concerned about the API keys are trolls anyway, so don't bother feeding them. I haven't actually read any of Double Dee's posts because the red text makes them impossible to read without straining my eyes, but colored text is a sign of either a troll or an idiot, both of which make their posts worthless anyway. I'm willing to bet all 3 of the people whining about the API keys are the same guy posting with all of his forum alts to make it look like there are actually people worried about this. ______

Yeah it's pretty sad. Some people just hate fun I guess.
As a final word on the subject, if you are concerned about your API, just growse to eveonline.com/api and click on the access log thing.
You will find something like this:
19/02/2011 15:05:27173.236.139.21/char/Killlog.xml.aspx 1350332682119 19/02/2011 15:05:25173.236.139.21/char/Killlog.xml.aspx 1350332682OK 19/02/2011 14:59:07213.84.2.124/char/CharacterSheet.xml.aspx 1350332682OK 19/02/2011 14:59:04213.84.2.124/char/CharacterSheet.xml.aspx 687320630OK
You can see the times, IP addresses and which part of your API was accessed, in this particular case you will see my webserver (173.236.139.21) requesting my killlog and 213.84.2.124 (my IP addy) querying the charactersheet, that's EVEHQ checking my character.
It's not rocket science, everyone can see what is being checked on their API and by whom at any given time.
That concludes this topic as far as I'm concerned, I don't spend endless hours working on this event to waste some more on people that are just paranoid psychotics with a chip on their shoulders.

That's neat, coming from you. Getting a kick out of denying other people to play? And better still if they 'cry' about it (which is absolutely legit since not playing costs real money)? Question: would you also enjoy running into a casino and burning all the cards you find in players hands? Think the casino would like it as well? I guess that's why CCP sucks so bad. Better example: go into a bakery and spit on all the bread as soon as someone buys it. Would the angry people make that more enjoyable for you?
Oh well, I guess there's just nothing anybody can say to make you see how stupid this all is. So I'll go back into ignore mode now....

Hi everybody, it's Captain Disanalagous!
Seriously, get out of the game. It's not intended for people like you who think that piracy is griefing and that high-sec is perfectly safe. EVE (I can't believe I'm saying this); neither a bakery nor a casino is it ...

I have never bothered with 0.0 botters indeed, when I had time to be in a 0.0 corp we were quite busy with the "reds". These ravens are fitted with the stuff they get as they go ahead. Since peak money is not their concern (continuity of unattended operation is) they won't care to fit whatever they grab without having to go get it away.
Furthermore, one of the limits of Hulkageddon has always been to attract hi sec gankage as first "selling point", not 0.0. Thus I refer to hi sec and not 0.0 bots.
Also, to be honest I don't understand why Hulkageddon IV did not also enlist Motsu T3 bearships. They are surely more fun to pop than random iterons or 3M in cargo loot value Noctises.

3. u mad?
No, I do business.
Quote:
What part of "API keys are not stored in a readable form" is it you don't understand son?
About the API keys. I have downloaded and checked API MOD. It seems to be the software used in the screenshot. If it's not, I apologige.
1) I noticed it uses Chribba's EvE-Search (function getAvatar()) as backup avatar picture source without any credit being given. For its potentially heavy (how many have that mod?) use it could abuse of Chribba's web site a lot.
Has Chribba's authorization been given for that? I understand this is not exactly an issue "caused" by you, since it's the original coder who did this. The lack of credits is what piqued my attention.
2) API keys seem to be stored in clear in the database, therefore they may be retrieved in full. I failed to find a call to an encryption function to store / retrieve them. The posted UI screenshot does not represent what could be retrieved by starting a tool similar to phpMyAdmin.
The code I have found looks like this:
$url = "http://api.eve-online.com/char/CharacterSheet.xml.aspx?userID={$user_row['api_userid']}&apikey={$user_row['api_limitedkey']}&characterID={$charid}";
where
api_limitedkey is the field holding the API key.
