I whanted to buy a new Mining Laser Upgrade. And i think the Aoede Mining Laser Upgrade is the best. When i go to market it shows a price of 600 mil ISK. Also, thare are no blueprints for the Aoede Mining Laser Upgrade. Is this why the price is at 600 mill?
So whare do i get them from? Buy from market for 600 mil. or is it a drop from npc. or mission?
thanks |

There are several item groups based on meta level.
Meta 0 = T1 (NPC drops, Blueprints) Meta 1-4 = Named (NPC drops only) Meta 5 = T2 (player made by doing invention process. Meta 6-9 = Faction (bought from LP stores or dropped off faction rats) meta 10-14 = Officer and Deadspace (officer comes from rare 0.0 NPCs, deadspace from exploration and complexes)
Usually meta 0 items value is based on the value of the raw minerals. Named items are priced on supply and demand with mineral value (if you reprocess it) as the price floor. T2 and higher are straight supply and demand.
What you're looking at is an item that only comes from killing NPCs, is rare, and has relatively high demand. If you don't like the price of your local regional market, try contracts or eve-central.com.

I already thought the Aoede Mining Laser Upgrade is a only npc drop. Also why the price is so high.
thanks

Quite possibly, but what would motivate spending that much on a MLU? Compared to using standard MLUs at a fraction of the cost.

I've only ever seen them drop off hauler spawns in 0.0. Even if you do get a hauler spawn it's quite rare to get a good mining laser upgrade, hence the price.

To clarify for the OP - hauler spawns are incredibly rare as it stands. The mining lazOr upgrade is just one of many drops, hence extreme rarity.
Also - don't bother with it.
Also - IB4 he sees the price of a harvester drone / loses one to a belt rat.

Slap some ORE strip miners on it while you're at it.

As far as I know, Aoede Mining Laser Upgrade only drop from some Gurista cargo caravans (or maybe that's in Gurista space...)
I personally wouldn't fit anything more expensive than a T2 module on my Hulks.

Edited by: Roelof Kremer on 23/02/2011 09:29:20 Quick comparison of mining laser upgrades arranged by Mining bonus Item name, CPU penalty, Mining bonus, CPU Mining Laser Upgrade I, 10%, 5%, 30 Erin Mining Laser Upgrade, 9%, 6%, 31 Elara Mining Laser Upgrade, 8.5%, 7%, 33 Carpo Mining Laser Upgrade, 8%, 8%, 35 Aoede Mining Laser Upgrade, 7.5%, 9%, 37 Mining Laser Upgrade II, 12.5%, 9%, 40
Like we all can see. The aoede mining laser upgrade hase the same mining bonus like the mining laser upgradeII. The CPU penalty is 5% less. And the cpu need is 3 less then the mining laser II So more cpu for other fitting. Bigh + for other smaller ship fitting. The price is the bigh drawback. It also set a bigh bullseye on your ships ass. So keep it save. personaly i go for the Mining laser upgrade II if you have the cpu.

It does make me wonder why a meta 5 item (the T2 MLU) is by far WORSE than the meta 4 item.

There's a whole list of modules where the meta 4 has lower fitting reqs than the T2 with the same boosts.
