So i'm a 5mil Sp character with an open invitation to W-space and a corp of decent sounding folk. I've just got the skills, cash etc to fly a buzzard and was wondering am I totally screwing myself going into w-space not even having a battleship.
I've got a battlecruiser shield tank, an industrial and a few frigates, but will they be redundant in scary-land?
thanks in advance. Claus

Dear Claus,
you are better off without a Battleship in Wormhole space.
Sincerely,

Go for it!
I first ventured into W-space with way less skill (flew a probe with a faction cloak as a sort of make-shift covops) and did a lot of scouting. I learned more doing that than I ever did back in safe-land.
It depends on what kind of 'holes you're in - but at 5mil SP you ought to have decent battlecruiser fits open to you, which will solo C1&C2's - group with a couple of others for C3's, or join the gang in higher.
You're Caldari so I'm assuming drake. Skip training BS if you like Wspace and train for the Tengu. Your drake will do you well till then, and the support skills are near enough the same. The Tengu is pretty much the defacto PVE ship, and with its low mass it's even more akin to WH life than other PVE capable ships. (large mass of battleships causes issues with wormhole life)

Yeah, anything you bring into w-space is going to get eaten by PC pirates even if the drone AI doesn't get you first. Cheap, insurable ships are the way to go.

Hello Claus:
EVE is the first MMOG I've ever played, and I'm in my 50s. Tried it out on a lark. Learning curve almost killed me.
Got lucky & hooked up w/ a great group that was operating out of w-space. Had a LOT less SP than you do now.
It was hard. It was frustrating / infuriating at times. It was and is a blast and I learned fast.
Go for it! Be prepared to have your brain in high gear and learn what to pay attention to in a given situation.
You'll love it and make a lot of ISK. However, make CERTAIN that your medical clone is up to date..... Enjoy and good luck! |

I know big corps that are strictly W-space. they have mining ops, pvp, sleeper runs, PI all of it and they live out of large POSes posted all over all with connecting jump bridges to each other. Those guys are pro, ruthless at defending their territory, and filthy rich from the pve/mining/pi out there!
One day I would like to get into one...maby they will make me flash them to get in....worth it. |

You are clearly talking out of your arse here buddy; you can't use jump bridges in wormhole space.

To make up an analogy on the spot.....
Living in wormholes is like taking a job on an oil rig, yes your cut off from the rest of the world(universe) for extended periods of time but you can make a lot more isk and have a lot more fun in the process. Downpoint being that after a while the lack interaction with female company can drive you to using a fellow riggers bottom as a sleeping bag for your winky.
So in conclusion, big thumbs up for W-space! :D
