I saw some of the HD youtube videos for the music portions of last year's fanfest and the quality of video and camera work was impressive for any fanfest, much less a smaller community like EVE. As such, I would be all too happy to support it with $20 USD . . . but not if my access to the content is only in real time as it happens and as I just happen to be up and available to view it. If I could have it archived and login to view it whenever I want, I would go for this instantly. I'd even pay an extra $5 for the "archived" access (I don't want to watch it just one time).
However, 20 hours of content spread across two or three days aligned for a time zone that is 6-8 hours ahead of my own during the work week is a difficult proposition. That places almost all of the content to between 6am and 3pm PST, in America. A time when most people are sleeping, commuting, and working. Rebroadcasting it isn't really an acceptable solution, either.
I understand there would be concern for unauthorized distribution of the content, but I think the value to your devoted customers would be much greater.

Charging money for this is ****ing ******ed.
It would have been awfully cool to tune in and take a look for five minutes to see what it looked like, but no!
Thank you for treating your fanbase (currently the "fan" part declining at a rapid rate) like idiots.

I totaly agree with this. As EVE is a world wide thing it makes good sense to make some accomodation for the various time zones. I managed to tune in to the HD but its so laggy, (and i don't know the cause) its almost useless in that its impossible to follow along. (But i'm trying hard)
I think a log in accessable archive would be great and would fit my schedule perfectly. And while this doesn't realy fit here, I'd like to see the fanfest moved to a different time of the year. The summer comes to mind, the weather is good for flying, and its easyer to schedule holiday time off work to attend.

Watching some of the presentations, a thought occurs.
I think CCP gets too distracted making skits for fanfest. That's why you keep complaining about things taking a long time. -More Pewpew, Less QQ- |

Standard definition feed is free and more than adequate for tuning in and taking a look for five minutes, and more. The quality is fine. The option to upgrade to HD is there, for a small fee. I really don't see the problem here.
If you object to being treated like an idiot, don't post like one.

Edited by: J Kunjeh on 27/03/2011 11:59:48 Kudos to CCP for putting this broadcast together for this years Fest. I forked over the $20 for the HD stream and was lucky enough to be able to watch about 90% of it (many people's schedules wouldn't allow for that because it's live, so I support adding some way for subscribers to view what they missed at a later time for next years broadcast). Great production values, solid high quality stream, inclusive coverage of various aspects of the event, and great hosts! Well worth the $20!

Some clever people have stolen the stream and posted it here. -- [Aussie players: join ANZAC channel] |
