ok first i just want to say.... eve is not geared towards fair game play. the new system making the quality of sites adjust to the trusec quality of the system to make the game 'not boring'..... complete crap. CCP... you are always worrying about all the wrong problems in EVE. how about fixing some of the bugs in the game that have been here since DAY ONE, for example... POS glitches, grafix issues, like when you swap ships in a POS, your laser, salvager, and mining laser grafix not working. every day that passes that we get a so called 'critical update' such as the trusec change... completly useless work on your part CCP. the only purpose that serves is making sure that the players that werent playing eve on the original launch date WILL NEVER own a system that is worth having. STOP GEARING THE GAME TO THE DAY ONE FRIENDS OF THE GMs!!!!! KEEP THE SITES RANDOM!!!! this is completly unfair to new players and absolutly frustrating to say the least. basically this is how eve works.....if you werent here from day one, and you dont run one of the big powerful alliances.... then you will never have anything of value in the world of eve...period... how about a few non-partial updates CCP. we arent paying for this game to provide you and your friends with entertainment while YOU play

Graphics not working for laser effects? Sounds like a personal problem...I just started and my graphics are fine. What sort of hardware are you running?

See: Delve, and IT Alliance, and all the recent upheavals that have gone on down there. Yeah, it was between mega-alliances, but there's no reason newer players CAN'T do that.
your graphics points are probably local to your machine. New drivers are probably the best solution here.
as for your "I want 10/10 plexes in empire" whine --> no. go to nullsec and RISK your stuff for the greater reward.

Wow. I make an honest observation about what I see going on in the game, and all anyone can focus on is the age of my toon, which, by the way, is a holding toon for my 3 year old account.
Since we seem to have a crowd of english teachers trolling the forums, I will make sure that I format this reply properly.
All anyone that has replied to this post seems to be interested in are the punctuations and the format that the post is written in. No one seems to want to address the issue that the post was all about.
CCP, in my personal opinion, seems to cater to the complaints and desires of the large alliances. For instance ... the gate campers and pirates complained that covert ops ships were too hard to catch... well, CCP removed the instant cloak from them, and eliminated every ouce of skill required to operate a covert ops ship, now you just warp, hit F1 and hope for the best.
Now... people complain that the spawn mechanics of complexes in null security space are unfair because younger players were getting high end sights in their systems that they rent or otherwise occupy. Well, they complain, and natually get their way. Now those of us that were not here for the original launch date of Eve Online must suffer by losing one of the few things that made the excessive rent on low grade, null security systems almost worth the grind to make the ISK.
This is my point... CCP, please stop throwing the balance of power and wealth in the direction of the big alliances and give everyone a chance. All of the trolls in these forums can make all the smart remarks and digs at the grammer in which the posts are written in, but in the end everyone knows that this is an ongoing problem. Stop catering to the whims and whines of the powers that be... PLEASE.
As far as the references to my hardware... my computer and all drivers are always up to date. That is one thing that Eve players have in common with all other online gamers... whenever anyone says anything about a problem with graphics in a game, it is always blamed on the hardware of the user. God forbid it should be a problem with the software installed on the providers server. So i suppose that ships warping in sideways, warp graphics appearing sideways of the direction the ship is actually traveling, and all of the crashes, glitches, and unscheduled downtimes for emergency maintainance are the fault of the users.

For anyone who has not experienced this issue, simply head out to a belt with your Orca and Hulk fleet. Switch fittings, i.e.: if you left station with the Hulk fitted for strip mining, use the Orca's fittings service to switch to ice harvesting. Start mining or harvesting, and you'll find that there are no beams rendered.
Return the hulk to a station (not the ship maintenance bay of the Orca), then undock and start mining again, you'll get the beams back.

Try getting through a hostile gatecamp in nullsec... you aren't insta-warping off a gate down there any time fast.

Personal exp -- it's always been a hardware/driver problem on my end when there has been graphics issues/instability(hell, sometimes running the *latest* drivers is the problem).

It's not the software on the CCP servers, graphics are all handled locally on your machine -- there is seriously only like 20 k/sec worth of data streaming between CCP and the client -- just the important numbers/info.
Ships warping sideways -- you're moving space around the ship, it's not actually moving *through* space. the entire need to turn seems pointless, no?
Unsched downtimes (let's say DB crash) could be for any number of reasons... DB corruption can be caused by any number of things. Furthermore, there are tens, if not hundreds of thousands of lines of code that need to work... Sisi is good and all, but they can't always forsee us doing crazy (and then breaking something in a new patch, right after patch day)

I want to agree with the OP that tying the 0.0 site quality to the truesec will return 0.0 back to the state of not being worth the rent.
That this drastically raises the barrier of entry into the 0.0 mega-alliance arena.
That this is all bad and no good except for the 4-5 executors of the mega alliances (who history has shown that CCP will actively cheat for.)
However, in the face of how bad this could be (CCP has not said clearly what will be happening) I don't want the stink of the OP on me. :(

Balance is the absolute worst thing you can do to a competitive game. If a game is fair there is nothing to fight over, thus no purpose to the game. This is bad when your game is built around the idea of a persistent world.
The game is not built so that people can start it up instantly and be on top. That formula is best left to checkers, or something equally juvenile that is intended for children/old people with no real competitive backbone.
Get over it and work for your prize, or quit.

EvE doesn't need fixing. It is fixed.
I'm on Test a while back. I have a glory tanked Nightmare. It has 20K Armor, all resists at 70% or above. It has 10K Shield, all resist at 70% or above. It has 10K Hull, all resist at 60%.
One to One I fight a Rohk. He eats 30K Armor and shield with 70% resists in under a minute. He then takes 3 minutes to eat 10K Hull with 60% resist. How can that be, that makes no sense? Welcome to EvE. Nothing means anything. What you see is a bald faced lie. When you see a fit from someone who has loads of Killmails, the fit makes no sense. To you and me. Yet it works. Its an insiders game and if you aren't on the inside, you are a cow to be farmed. The amount of money you spend on EvE doesn't seem to be the ticket to being an insider. I don't know what gets you inside. Kissing some ass? Dunno. But you are figuring out that the game is a bill of goods. |
