Was a time when Titans had AoE smartbomb, which allowed competent FCs to remove 1000 people in drakes at the start of the fight and get down to serious business. Unfortunately it was felt that this wasn't fair on people who only understand the concept of dog-piling as many people as they can into a system which has left us with the ******ed state of the servers that we have today.
I don't get why people complain that it's laggy and they can't log in when its themselves that have caused it.

in fairness, regardless of aoe titans numbers still mean a lot. pretty easy for a coalition of 60k to get 70 or so titans and just have more times the chances of getting good dds off.
the issue with the removal of aoe titans is that numbers mean more now than they ever did. that being said the way to address this issue is not by trying to directly nerf numbers, but by increasing the insentive to lower the number of "allies" an alliance can have.
such an insentive could be monetary or logistical, whatever it is, it is long overdue.

The problem with titan AoE was that if you had more than 23 of them you could DD capital fleets. Anyway - the titan AoE was replaced by bombers. In my opinion bombers do more for discouraging blobs than nanotitans did as far more people can fly them for a start and you will use them in situations which would be far too risky for fielding a titan.
As far as I understand tho current real problem is fighter bombers and how effective they are under laggy conditions in addition of them creating pretty huge amounts of lag themselves. Sort of like once upon a time Carriers were the "best" fleet ship back when fighters auto agrod, so you could just release them and sit back while they chew up the opposing fleet regardless of it being far too laggy to actually target anything.
Anyway, node was prolly reinforced or it would have crashed after first 20 moms released their fighters.
I doubt these losses will stop the DRF from trying to take Geminate but there are significant enough to make DRF a bit more careful where to pick the fights. Sort of like Uemon did for NC for a little while. A morale boost for one side and so on and on. Blood will keep flowing in space regardless of that, it is what oils the great wheels of sovereignty afterall. At the end of the day it IS a significant victory for the NC side regardless of how you spin it.

That's all fine and well. As long as people remember supers badly needed that hp buff. Making them into damage dealers was ******ed tho, I even said it while it was in testing. As a mom pilot. The titan damage role is not good either tbfh.. and hell, the amount of caps we can field was creating "too much" damage with dreads alone some few years ago as well.
All caps could use some major damage nerf, and forced into more of logistic or support roles. -

Yep, the hp buff was quite needed. Although I think dreads have been most of the time sort of reasonably balanced, well ofc some better than others. Anyway dreads have been and still are highly situational and relatively useless against small stuff. Up until supers got to be FOTM pwnmobiles ofc and nowadays if you field less than hundred dreads you will prolly die horribly.
Atm supers are the new dreads. Alliances live and die by the number of supers they can field. If you cant compete with the supercap numbers you might as well not bother with holding sov on your own currently. Same as dreads were about umm .. some three to five years back perhaps. Atm the ecological niche of dread is filled by moms. They do it better. And price difference can affect only so much at the end of the day.
In geminate tho - NC just has shorter supply lines there so it is easier to field 800 guys in there than for DRF. DRF seems to be trying to test the NC stamina with their campaign but I dont think they will succeed. If NC is composed mostly of carebears as the agreement in forums seems to go, then carebear mine ice, right. Ice mining is the most boring thing one can do. Compared to ice mining sitting in gate camp where nothing happens and staring at that stargate for 2 hours without blinking is thrilling excitement. And dont get me started on all those structures, ohhhh the exitement is almost enough to wet my pants. A fleet engagement where you do one click every few hours is approx as exciting as ice mining as well. Same as ice mining tho - someone has to do it.

i just have one question for you all...
is it worth it? everyone complains pretty much consistently about large scale pvp, me included. how nodes are either not reinforced or reinforced badly, or it was just laggy or whatever else it is you always find people complaining about, and its almost once every blue moon where we hear about a greater than 300 v 300 where people thought it was playable and enjoyable.
and yet, as if all of this was unknown people continue to turn up to these blobs expecting fun or complaining when none is found.
is it really worth it to spend 3 -> 5 -> 10 -> 15 hours potentialy days of your lives waiting on titans for bridges or trying to relog or whatever to try get grids to load or whatever...? is there no other option???? WANNA PLAY POKER IN EVE FOR ISK????

It kinda depends. If you want to take space or keep your space thats what it takes under current implementation. If it's "worth it" it's too early to tell after the last update to anoms making them take the true sec of the system into account. As it stands currently anoms are approx 10% better than grinding level 4 missions in hi sec. Thats then on individual level. If this changes now then ofc there will be some exodus from 0.0 when iskmaking chars are going where carrots are and only pvp chars are remaining behind. As it was before the anomalies were implemented. In any case the exodus would not be too large for a start as you have to be damn good at level 4 missions to get approx the same income as you do from level 5 military upgraded system. Most people are not that good even if you cut 0.0 anom income by ~20%.
On organisational level it's ofc worth it bcos of the tech price. All you need is to have more grunts/supers than opposition and your tech moons/high ends keep printing a trillion isk per region per month.

yah certainly but my question is aimed at the grunts that never see a dime of that isk...
so essentially they sacrifice their time and enjoyment so that their "leaders" can abuse their illplaced trust and naievity.

I would not say that the grunts dont see any of that moon isk. Most NC entities with tech moons have rather extraordinant and expencive dotation progammes in place for fleet participation. Free logis for logi pilots, replacing HiC/Dic on some operations, replacing capitals lost in CTA fleets, helping getting supers, building on average one station per week per alliance, etc. Not to mention the jump bridge network. Damn thing burns ungodly amounts of liquid ozone. Running that things burns roughly a billion isk per day per alliance (roughly a freighterful of LO) during the fleet operations with all these hundreds of battleships going thu with quarter of them being a bit ... special ... and forgetting to turn off their MWD when they jump.
And ofc you need some toys for keeping your good FC's happy. All the bloodthirsty grunts do you no good if your FC's fail. So I imagine being a good FC should be reasonably well paying job in any 0.0 entity with some disposable income.
So .. if I would get DD'd in the fleet today in my trusty dread(s) then there is good propability I will be sitting in new one(s) tomorrow bcos of the alliance reimbursement scheme - that is on top of any corporation scheme in place that good portion of corps have as well. I think the pain of supercap losses is eased somewhat as well but dont know for real as I'm not a super pilot. I remember back when dyspo was the one to rule them all and I was living in the south - with the alliance reimbursement scheme in place you would end up earning pretty well when losing dreads in alliance sanctioned operations. It's not as good nowadays bcos insurance sucks, but overall the loss of a dread is not a far above losing a fleet battleship. Depending ofc in what entity you exactly are and how the tech isk is divided within alliance.

Ace û get over it û nobody likes loosing and yes people whine about the state of the game after sitting for 3 hours with no way to target stuff and shoot and black screening etc etc.
Get over it. That is life. That is war in real life and it is war in this important internet spaceship game. The NC has done nothing wrong in growing the way they have.
HereÆs a thoughtà... take a look at the organisation of the NC and the collaboration between thousands of different players from different countries and grow a coalition yourself. If I remember correctly this is exactly how the game is advertised û and yet you pigeon whole the NC into the ôones the ruined 0.0ö.
In the mechanics of the game when you need numbers to reinforce and take space is there any wonder why numbers is everything? The NC have just been very smart at how they play.. Yes, people whine when loosing STUFF to horrible lag and un-controllable server behaviour but you are still here!
I have no idea or suggestion as to what would SPICE 0.0, is owning Territory really the end game? I am not so sure - but if killing stuff is your game then I am sure war dec-ing suits your needs and then you can live in empire. Do we go down the arena route and have a beacon saying ôI want a fightö û I beg you not to do thatà Do we have sensors on ships that can detect what is on the other side of a gate to avoid being tackled and have 30 men jump on youà not sure. 0.0 In my opinion is fun and boring, its engaging and mundane - all at once. If killing stuff is your game then may be look at what avenue you are playing the game through û 0.0 is a numbers game (of course having the right tactics and ships also helps).
TL:DR - get over it!

Insurance sucks for dreads, but it is way worse for supercaps; it's now much less then even 40% basic insurance they used to get. And don't forget all the deadspace and officer mods going on supercaps, where dreads ae fit with t2 and occasional faction. Losing several titans still is a noticeable dent in alliance budget, even with tech moons or army of bots renters.

the way i see this whole 0.0 is boring dilema is to first understand why is it boring - is it boring becuase you can't pvp on your own through fear of being blobbed? Is it boring becuase the "rishes" are un-conquerable due to defenders having superior numbers? Is it boring becuase to take something that is conquerable it takes X amount of days...
If killing stuff is your game but numbers is not your possible, would it be an idea to ask for some pockets of rich space in empire that allow people to hunt and kill stuff - would this just be another opportunity for blob fest? would blobbing actually be nerfed in these systems? if 10 people are shooting at 1 target the shield / armour resistance on said target is increased by 90% I don't know...
I love solovping but since the speed nerf the opporunity to solo pvp has been considerably reduced.

Is it worth it?
I would say all the lag, the screaming at CCP to upgrade their hardware, the hair pulling, and general emmo rage. At the end of the day if all you play this game for is for the chance to fly your titan into combat and kill other peoples expensive toys then yes it is worth it. If I could no longer experience the thrill of doing large scale engagement regardless of who had more on the field then I would not play this game. I have always said that people must find something in this game they enjoy, and they do, otherwise they would not be playing it.
In short I fly a titan because it is the biggest ship I can fly, I do not enjoy sub capital pvp as to me that is boring because there is no risk involved. When they release the next "super" ship I will build one too. As for how unfair the game is, complain to CCP. Although I doubt they will do anything about it as they want to milk their income sources for as long as possible before finally ****ing them off to the point of quitting.
The o2o fight was fun, and it was also very irritating. I spent almost the entire fight with my DD bugged, guns bugged, and trying to escape super points at random planets. Clearly I wouldn't spend my afternoon any other way :). BFF

The hole idea of nerfing moms has to do with large entities not wanting smaller and much faster entities mess up their little farm.Simple example is what PL has done to them. The typical blob grunt is either stupid or hardcore role player if he really thinks that he somehow makes a difference in his crappy drake. The current sov mechanics is perfect for almost everyone. For large entities it still needs a huge amount of time naping-defending crap,so their players are kept in the minimum possible potential.CCP really likes having players with low self efficiency that they pride that right clicking "jump to" and spamming lock is pro. After all someone has to actually pay to play and having "smart" players playing for a long time isnt good business. On the other hand, having thousands of players staring at black screens and thinking that there is actual content is just brilliant if you are CCP.

Condensing capitals/supercapitals into one entity will grant that one entity a edge ... for a while. That day has come .. and passed. However, longer term that edge is dulled and eventually lost when larger entities shift their focus into "we need more of these pwnmobiles". Last I heard the production rate of moms has surpassed the dreads. In the case of moms the price is not even that huge - with the increased amount of isk in circulation I would say roughly the same investment as dread was about 4 years ago. A single pilot can afford it with moderate amount of effort. The hull itself is only roughly 12 bil, throw in T2 rigs and billion or two in hardeners and you are ready to rock if your intent is not to solo but field it as part of fleet.
After edge of capitals/supercapital superiority is lost however then smaller entity can do only ambushes and quick ganks. In particular case of PL I must admit they are pretty good at it. However in the case of direct engagement no amount of skill saves you when the Zerglings rush in. Especially if the Zerg would be flying the exactly same kind of uber ships your few and skilled do.
Does not take that much "skill" to right click the correct name in broadcast window and send your fighter-bombers after it when locked. All you need is FC with at least some competence and damn good tacklers for keeping the supers there.
Anyway - last noises about supercaps CCP did indicated that they are not happy with em. Will see if they will be turned back into giant paperweights they were before boost that turned em uber as CCP has some history of overreacting but who knows. Perhaps this time they will get it right ;)

I totally agree with you and propably every sov holding player does too.The problem is that lag isnt there because of supercaps or missile spam or whatever other stuff PC gurus are saying, its there because there are technical limitations of what a game can handle. The typical sov holding guy will go and grind POSs,stations TCUs or whatever even he is told to do it even with a rifter. So in simple words, those who choose to follow this gamestyle will watch blackscreens no matter what just as they did before. There isnt much of a difference if a node is dying with 50 supers in the field or with 2000 drakes in it,because simply in any case, there will be more than 3000 guys attemtping to crash their game anyway. Also, hit and run tactics are not bad.You can have everyone satisfied. The gankers because thats what they do..and the blobers because eventually they will get their **** right.

Well, atleast the node didn't actually crash, but there where some odd things happening. I was one of those who never loaded properly, and was left with no way of logging in, even after the fight. Tried to log in 6 hours after the fight, and still blackscreened, system had no load at that time. Then, at 09:48 I was killed and podded. Found out about it on our killboard. After that incident I could log on and do stuff again. Also, 12 hours later, 21:15, my ship was killed *again*, in O2O, by someone else. This time fitted with the modules that did not drop the first time I died. At that time I was fighting in another region.
But all in all. I will come back to do this again, hopefully not loosing a ship, and at the most die once / ship.
