Edited by: Maya Rkell on 03/02/2005 19:35:49 You can't.
The times you actually crash WHILE WARP SCRAMBLED...well, it's stretching coincidence WAAY to far to believe it's a regular occurance.

CCP should be able to tell if U logged in combat and if U did automatic pop. If its a CCP crash they will know that also and no pop

Well they can't tell if your ISP broke the connection or you just yanked the cable out. If they could somehow find out whether you logged off or not then that would be great but for the most cases I don't think it's possible. __________ Capacitor research |

Sure it has, but this is simply the primary weapon of the carebear horde being used against them; Whine enough and CCP implements it. -

totally signed. Vin Diesel claims he has never hailed a taxi. He just runs up to them at stop lights, opens the door, shoves the current passenger over, and tells the cab driver what his new destination is. |

Absolutely. This should have been fixed long ago.
If youre warp scrambled by another player, you dont get a logoff timer. Period.
For NPCs, the usual warp-out/2 minute mechanic are fine.
I look foward to this thread having no response of any kind from CCP, and 'fixes' to logoffs being implemented in around 6 months that will make it even easier to escape combat by hitting ctrl+q.

Signed. Make this EnB style, they had the perfect model for catching people logging out. Except change to make this effective only for PvP.

I cannot believe this problem is still here. It is THE most annoying thing about this game.

Even though I don't currently PVP, I agree totally - logging intentionally is just lame.
Can't CCP make it so that logging off sends a message to the server? That'd solve both problems - a crash would allow them to warp off, while a log-off wouldn't.
Of course, they could just unplug their equipment, but that causes them other problems - if they do it too often, I suspect that their hardware would fail through the abuse... which would be serves them right.

Okay say I have 1 billion in modules + my ship + my insurance and I have 200 million in implants and I get ganked by 20 ships at a gate. I KNOW I'm going to die and I KNOW that if I activate my reps and log I WILL SURVIVE.
Why shouldn't I log. Why should I do the HONOURABLE thing when I'm so seriously outnumbered by DISHONOURABLE gankers? When these same gankers I see use lame tactics themselves like log-in traps and escrow scams??
Well I don't believe that but I think thats the mentality of a lot of loggers. Why should they stay in game and lose so much isk to an extremely unfair PvP. I guess its a fair question and comes down to how seriously you take the game. I never log as I can make so much isk in such a short time my reputation is more important to me but I can understand someone who only plays 2 hours a night not wanting to go back to a cruiser because they got ganked.
Having said that, I agree there needs to be a fix.
How about a timer based on how many ships are aggressing you? 1 Ship, you don't log for 20 minutes. 2 15 minutes... 10+ ships 2 minutes.
Sounds stupid but at least its a compromise.

Here is what I'd like to see:
1. A warp scrambled ship will NEVER warp or disappear EVER, not even if the owner logs off and then logs on an alt on the same account.
2. A logged off ship that is NOT successfully warp scrambled will warp away NORMALLY.
3. If a ship has a 'hostile act' made against it (Hostile act = anything that would activate Concord in 0.5+), a 30 minute timer starts. If the owner logs off while is space, his ship will attempt to normally warp to a safe spot to disappear, but it will NOT actually disappear until the 30 minute timer ends. If found at the safe spot, it will not warp away again, and the 30 minute timer can be restarted by making a new 'hostile act'. Furthermore, the safe spot the ship warps to will be within 3au of where the log off occured (so the smallest scanner probes can be sure of finding him).
