Hi
I haven't been able to play EVE much the last 18+ months, so haven't kept up with everthing.
Last time I checked, Veldspar was the most profitable ore type to mine in high sec, but this seems to have changed: linkie
Why? What happened? Isn't trit still totally hot stuff?

Nocxium prices exploded at the end of 2010, so Pyroxeres became the best one. By the way the prices you linked are false. Trit is above 3.2 by now, so Veldspar is valued as much as before. ____________________________________ Fulbert Industrialist - Casual Trader EVE Online, the best browser MMO of them all |

Thanks for the explanation.
new link
The above site seems to claim to be updated daily, and says that of the high-sec ores, Veldpsar is the 2nd most valuable, beaten by Pyroxeres by about 25%.

The best high-sec ore is Hemorphite, because of its Nox content.
Before someone steps in to correct me that Hemo is a low-sec ore, you can find it in high-sec at some grav sites (rare but they are around)

veld is good because it yeilds more isk than scord of the same volume also rocks of decent size make it easy. If your super serious miner your going to crack whole belts anyways, best thing going is orca boosting, they would have been around when you stopped playing, but they can make or break an op.

You're right. I was talking about highsec ores, aka low-ends. I'm actually buying so much nocxium from buy orders that i'm pretty sure it comes from grav sites and not from belts. So people are running after those sites, IMHO. ____________________________________ Fulbert Industrialist - Casual Trader EVE Online, the best browser MMO of them all |

Also, kernite is still more valuable per m3 than Pyroxeres.
So if you dont have a alt hailing/ orcaing your pyrox, kernite might be slightly more profitable.

Main reason trit is still so high is because of the massive capital losses the Alliences are having, on average loosing like 10 titans a month not counting in the moms and normal caps being lost, when the war stops price will fall again.

Akita T, any reason why there's no Mercoxit listed on that?

I'd guess because BSAC, the people behind the site, aren't interested in morphite.

Merc is far more specialized an ore than the others. Standard strip miners won't work, and then there's the gas cloud. It's easy to make an argument for not including it on ore charts.

There are indeed hemorphite available in some hisec gravimetric sites, and so is jaspet and in even rarer cases hedbergite.
You might eve find some hemo and jaspet in hisec DED complexes if you're lucky.
The problem of course is that it takes time (and decent scanning skills) to find those sites so it's much harder to exploit those for a stable (high) income.
Most miners or mining groups tend to find a nice system, deploy their Hulks (and Orca) and then watch a movie or do something else while doing some clicking and clickdragging every 2-3 minutes (unless they are spawns of the devil and use macros/bots of course).
Btw, when I look at the profitability of different ores I actually look at two different metrics.
Number one of course is the isk per mined m3 of ore, since the number one limiter of profit is the time it takes to mine and haul the raw ore to a base for refining.
But unless you are using/selling your refined minerals directly where you refine then you also have to look at the volume of refined materials.
And that's where the difference even between "low end" highsec ore and "high end" highsec ore comes in to play.
If you refine equal amounts (in m3) of veldspar and kernite you'll notice that the veldspar generates way more minerals (still in m3) to haul away for production or sale.
Not a big issue for miners with access to a freighter (or freight service) but an issue for those who don't.
