Edited by: Devil''s Call on 23/03/2011 01:13:37 Can anybody tell me whether this is completely ******ed or not...? I can't seem to be able to make a cap stable fit.

I tried fitting it with CCC rigs but that doesn't help either. (Still cap hungry like hell:/) The same fit does work allot better with blasters though.
But I suspect I should fit a heavy cap booster or something...-.-?
Edit: I just discovered that I can get the blasters to shoot almost as far with a 200 dps gain... seriously, wtf are rails good for?

I'll have to say that it is a nightmare to catch up to your opponent in an armor tanker to use your blasters. So rails let you hit them when they're using their missiles on you from 70 then 60 then 50 then 65 km.

If your incursion fleet is a shield tanked one, then it needs to be shield tanked obviously. The scenario would support a highly organised fleet with logistics support hence the focus on resists. (100k ehp with all resist above 75% doesn't seem that terrible, or...-.-?)

For logistic efficiency shield tanking is ++++ than armour tanking.
Has for rails on a Vindi, yes you'll do some more dmg than with a rails Mega navy but not that much since the Vindi's bonus are the ones that make Blasters on it work better (web bonus), I mean don't expect to spit out over 1500dps with rails has you can with blasters on this ship.
I suppose your fit is for incursions so forget the T2 ammo at any case cause it sucks ass hard, pick faction ammo instead then try Neutrons + Tracking enhancers instead of MFS. In a shield fleet with a good T2 fit you can push your OP at over 15km and your total distance over 45km witch is pretty enough. ________________________________________________

Finally somebody who know's what he or she is talking about. With blasters the optimal goes to about 45k yeah, with rails it's 20+60. (1200 dps (with drones) vs 1400ish of the blasters)
Fyi, I compared this fit with a machariel sniper fit, and it does way more damage then artillery on a mach ever will. It's not that bad of a fit except that rails are apparently very cap hungry. But yeah, the blaster vindi I already use, I was just thinking about a way to turn it into a sniper platform if called for.

But yeah, the blaster vindi I already use, I was just thinking about a way to turn it into a sniper platform if called for.
Then I suggest you to try the rails version with these changes:
-Assuming you keep hole resistance rigs +shield ext (so shield tanking)
lows: 1xDC2 4xMFS 2xTE med: everything you need to increase your tanking like T2 IF and 2 Tracking computers, one of them with tracking script and the other one with OP distance. You'll have over 75% resists all over the board assuming you've trained your passive shield resists at least at lvl4 and get a little over 100K EHP (about 14/15K shield but with very good resists)
You'll win dps by a far better tracking at any range and even abble to blow small stuff under 25km and up to 115 (depending on your skills) between faction AM and Faction Plutonium, I can't get the real numbers out because EFT is pretty wrong in his calculations and second it depends also on your implants skills level etc.
I would not advice you to push further than 4 MFS because the forth one is already giving you a very small boost and another one will certainly make one of them absolete.
EDIT: I'm assuming your skills are strong enough to equip a 8 full rack of T2 rails and you are cap stable (no matter if it's only 10%) ________________________________________________

Forget about cap stable. Cap stable is a LIE! Fit a cap booster and then forget about your cap.
My mission nightmare has about 90 seconds worth of cap (according to EFT/in-game fitting) and yet I never have cap issues and its rare that I use boosters too. Cap stability is a waste of slots.

Your Vindicator needs an internal and external refit.
Basically drop the fit and the hull and fit a shield buffer Arty-Maelstrom.
Better AND cheaper.

This is your problem. You are loading javelin. You do realize that javelin gives you -75% range, right? And increased Cap usage?
If you are going to be in a vindi, you need blasters if you are going shortrange. They outperform rails in every way. However, if you're feeling stupid and want to make a sniper rail vindi, you're going to want something more along the lines of this:
[Vindicator, Shield Incursion Rails] Damage Control II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Tracking Enhancer II Tracking Enhancer II Capacitor Power Relay II
Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Sensor Booster II, Targeting Range Sensor Booster II, Targeting Range Cap Recharger II

Large Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer II Large Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer II Large Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer II
Exchange t2 stuff with faction as you can afford. This particular fit has cap that lasts 13min, and does 441 dps at 168km, 761dps at 47km with navy antimatter (note gun only). You can also drop the cap recharger for an afterburner if you want. That being said... rail fitting is pretty ffing pathetic compared to blaster fitting it.

Drop 1 tracking computer for a Cap Booster in your case but has I've already told you, put rails in a Vindi is almost a crime :p ________________________________________________

There you go. Obviously factionise anything else you see fit, I went with the FN MFS cos theyre relatively cheap and help out a lot with CPU. Gives reasonable resists (which can be improved with moar pimpage), cap booster gives you all the cap you need but heres the important stat. With Large Rail spec IV and everything else at V it delivers 1105 dps at an optimal range of 47km making it the single most damaging mid-to-long range BS you can possibly have. It's a shame its base targetting range is so poor (68km with a lvl5 squad leader) else you could quite easily bin the SeBo nd fit an FN Web and youd be able to hit anything that got close too. You could ofc drop the extender for a web if you were confident enuff that you're Logis would keep you alive.

Aye, it's a decent mid-range 'sniping' platform with rails. Although you might aswell load your blasters up with long range ammo, and almost have the same range but with better DPS.

It's all the point of this ship and wy rails suxx harder on it than in a Mega one. Reverse the rails for Blasters 3MFS for 3TE and 2Te for 2MFS, you'll get +/- the same range, better tracking, better dps.
If you really want to snipe stuff over 60km then take a Navy mega+rails.
EDIT: and the navy has enough drone bay to get some sentry's +small drones ________________________________________________
