This. There is not such thing as "PvP" in EVE. Only blobings and running away when they feel the heat. WH space is the closest thing because fleet limitations by design.

We just shoot stuff. Ask philosophical Eve questions after.
(Agreeing that no-local and fleet size limitations in wormholes is fun, but really...you can get around that in empire or null anyways.) |

Edited by: Karl Planck on 24/03/2011 20:30:25 WH space isn't filled with carebears...ROFL. Now, there is a great deal of good solid pvp. But A LOT of the time those are ganks. A do love the mechanics for being a seperate part of the game. But lets all admit something about your pvp haven. There is a great price. And that price is tediousness and boredom. , Anyone who lives or has lived in wh space will attest to how f*cking terrible scanning all the time can be. Edit* not to mention that there are no belts to jump around in, no sec bonuses for killing rats. PVP in wh's is great, don't get me wrong, but aside from the absence of blob warfare (and that is being kind) it has its own problems.
While fun at first, after a while not many people can't take it. IN ADDITION, lots of fights involve pos's. And while that might either be shooting at it for hours or it be blockading the whole from getting fuel, that too is extremely boring.
Just saying, lets be honest here. -------------------------------------------------

Good highsec pvp involves corporations and individuals who have a very broad understanding of aggression timers, baiting, locator agents, OOC alts, and metagaming in order to get their pvp. It's can be very arduous and time consuming getting the pvp you want in highsec.
Lowsec pvp involves a solid understanding of individual pilot skill. The better the individuals know what their ships are capable of achieving, the better the lowsec pvpers are.
Nullsec pvp involves a good FC and groups who can ship into what ship is called for. Pretty much one guy runs the gang, and if everyone listens then they will do well.

While you literally know nothing about 0.0 or lowsec, your assessment of hisec is pretty accurate.
Hisec is less about PvP and more about ******ed games in order to shoot something. It's not about good fights, it's about feeling :smug: with your buddy buddies when you kill 1 ship with 10. It's not really PvP, and the people that do it for the most part aren't really good at EVE because they never actually have a real fight on their hands.

GJ missing the point. People don't highsec pvp for the fights, they highsec pvp for the metagaming, the stalking, and the potential to cause massive chaos amongst people who most definitely don't want to be pvp'ed.
Your post is pretty much the equivalent of going to play bumpercars, and at the start you race to the other side of the arena as fast as you can. Then you get out and gloat about how you made it to the other side first, and comment about how dumb the other drivers are because they can't even go straight and keep running into each other. - - - Dian'h Might - C&Ps resident "internet kleptomaniac" |

Forty-four female Sprague-Dawley rats were used, weighing between 200 and 250 gm each. A deep level of anesthesia was maintained with pentobarbital sodium. The chorda tympani nerve was exposed with a lateral approach and pared down until the discharges of individual neurons could be led off through a fine (125/t) uninsulated nichrome wire electrode over which the nerve strand was looped. Data were obtained from 62 single neurons.
The potentials were displayed on a Tektronix 502 oscilloscope and photographed with a Grass C4 kymograph camera, often after storage on a Sanborn-Ampex 2000 magnetic data recorder. The data used consisted of the number of discharges produced by individual neurons in the first second of activity evoked by various taste stimuli.
A flow chamber was fitted over the anterior portion of the tongue for the administration of the taste solutions; no saliva could flow onto this part of the tongue. Each stimulus was flowed over the tongue for about 4 seconds, followed by a distilled water rinse of about 20 seconds. The stimuli and the rinse were at room temperature. The stimuli and their concentrations were as follows: 1.0 M sucrose; 0.3 M CaC12 and KCI; 0.1 M LiC, NaCI, NH4CI, Na2SO 4, NaNO3, and NaOH; 0.03 M HCI; and 0.01 M QHCI (quinine hydrochloride).
These concentrations were selected to produce response magnitudes of roughly half the maximum possible for each stimulus, except for sucrose which is too viscous at concentrations greater than 1 M. Several salts were used since it was found convenient in the treatment of the data to have several similar stimuli; this will become apparent below. These stimuli were presented in random order, each from one to 15 times depending on how long the fiber continued to give spike discharges that could be identified as originating from a single neuron.

Yeah, when explaining it to the unfamiliar, I like to compare WH PvP to fishing. You spend quite a bit of time bored out your mind, wondering what you were thinking back when it seemed like a good idea. But, every once in a while, you land a whopper and get to brag to all your friends about it.

Comparing an FPS to this game, in terms of PvP is ridiculous, has to be troll, am only responding because I somewhat disagree with your assertion that solo PvP is unviable in this game. It is most definitely still viable. It is just far riskier nowadays than in the past (or at least it seems that way). As for the comparison to WoW, I again assume troll or abject ignorance, either way I deign to reply.
(btw, you might wanna go for a 3rd edit. It is xbox360, not xbot360. And, warfare, not warfair)

Lol at high sec PVPers...If you ever manage to get them to go off dock range or jump range they are pretty easy to kill. They love doing what they do,shooting afk haulers but in the end when it a fight is involved they usually run once a gang with same numbers is there.Stuck in their fantasy that PVP is played only in docking ranges and up to 20 kms once you field a couple of long range recons for tackling and some alpha strike dudes they wonder what happens when you land 60km away from them and slaughter them(and their neut logis that get insta poped). Its a nice thing to have your corp wardecced by them, you can actually try and practise against them before you go to low sec or null sec where there are cynos, jump bridges, bubbles and ofc blobs and make things a bit more interesting than playing with the dock button. Ofc if you do stuff correctly you ll find your self without decs and their KBs with no "campaign" about you..

HIGH SEC: Trying to kill WAR TARGETS before the grid loads when they undock -or- they warp to an INST-Undock.
NULL SEC: Trying to kill NON-BLUES before the grid loads when they jump into you -or- in a bubble while they run to a gate.

No, I think you misunderstood my post.
I've done alot of hisec PvP, been in all the major merc alliances, and understand that it's metagaming. It's not PvP though, that was my point. There's quite a few people in :hisec: alliances that think they're PvP gods despite the fact that the only PvP that they actually engage in is your typical "target undocks, get him to aggress, warp 20 friends to you" sort of fight or "target undocks, have people on every gate in the system and get tackle on him, then bounce him through gates".
I understand some people love the metagaming of catching someone and the related stuff, but pretending that the fight itself is impressive, or that there's any PvP prowess there is ridiculous.
If you wanted a better analogy, it's like being in a race, and people playing bumper cars. People are racing, then there's a bunch of people playing bumper cars. Good on them, they're enjoying themselves. But they're not racing.

Originally by: The PitBoss there's no difference between hisec pvp and nullsec pvp
The key difference is that alot of fights don't happen at stations, and that there are a lot more actual fights in nullsec/lowsec then there are in hisec.
Firstly because there's less carebears there, and secondly because the people that are there accept some small risk and therefore it's unlikely that you get :hisec: pvpers there who are almost as bad as the carebears they're trying to shoot.

This is not fun and is not pvp this is what you do when things get desperate for kills and are very lazy
I myself am more interested in the quality of my kills more than the quanity
and war deccing 10 allainces a week and sitting outside jita picking of the noobs many dont have insta warps and dont know about session timers etc
