After many months of observation, (which is sad that it took me that long)
I realized that any pvp that does not take place in .4 or less is in fact just different forms of carebearing.
I am so angry that all those high sec piwates mislead me to believe what they did took actual skill!
rage rage rage. QQ QQ.
now, I think out of spite and an overwhelming compulsion to troll, I will spam this at any high sec piwates and griefers I see.
The rage and anger will be easily visible.
Ok, that is all, sorry for useless post. :)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but all pvp outside of low sec is carebearing. Some high sec fights are ok. Some 0.0 skirmishes involve skill. But you know about high sec already. As for 0.0, I don't consider repping posses using 500 to press f1 simultaneously to be pvp either.

You're bang on correct!
hi-sec pvpers (mostly the wardecers) would be eaten alive if they were to purely concentrate in null sec - and they know that. So they make some excuse that 0.0 is boring and no fun.... In fact just writing about it now reminds me of a few people i know of who actually do this (and they never go into null sec).

It NEVER takes them skill. And they think their laughable "U SU** A$$" psychological warfare mails actually work.
Anyone who even replies to them after being ganked is just as much an absolute idiot as them, and are playing right into their hands. Providing them tear mail only proves that YOU are taking this game way too seriously and need to consider some sunshine and fresh air for a change of pace.
Lazy IDIOTS ALL of them, both high sec gankers AND most of their victims, 90% of which were AFK when it happens in the first place.

I think people on this thread have the wrong conception of what high-sec pvp is. High-sec PVP is also called GANKING. Or are you going to tell me that killing fellow skilled pvp'ers on low-sec is more entertaining then killing a carebear Raven and drink the tears of despair of its former owner?
Some people PVP on high-sec because they are afraid of low/null, yeah. But the rest of them are just trolls and gankers who have fun making other people's lives miserable. Delicious, marvelous, saliva-inducing fun.
And sorry OP, it looks to me that you was ganked by some high-sec ganker. Show us on the doll where he touched you. ____________

Ok, all these people talking about skill in eve. lmao...what skill? There's no combos, no button mashing, all you do is press f1 and orbit, oh I forgot you MIGHT have to call in on someone to rep you which...again takes NO skill to do. Oh wait...you have to press f2 to warp scramble or f3 to web. Where is this skill I here of...I have been playing for a year and a half now and there are no "skills" so to speak in this game. The only skill you have is when you have everything trained up to 5 and 45 and living in your mom's basement.

It's apples and oranges, you can't really make direct comparisons because each has a different style that has a different focus. Each of the big areas of pvp have their own sets of highlights and lowlights. In my experience, most pvpers of the lowsec variety could beat any of the highsec pvpers I know in a straight up fight. Conversely, most lowsec pvpers I know are terrible at any sort of global strategy that doesn't involve killing the opponent repeatedly in straight up fights. They also often lack the patience required to conduct a successful highsec war.
Highsec pvp is all about hunting/stalking targets over long distances, finding ways to engage people who don't want to fight, metagaming, and social engineering. The actual pvp is just a means to an end.
Lowsec pvp is all about finding targets fast before they realize you're trying to find them, winning fights you have no business winning, and managing sec status/agro mechanics to your advantage. The pvp is mostly done simply for the fun of pvping.
Nullsec pvp is all about logistics, efficiently managing a large amount of idiots to do your bidding, and outplanning your opponent. The actual pvp is just a fast paced activity for the FCs to lead, and they'd probably be just as happy managing a team based cookie baking contest as a fleet fight. - - - Dian'h Might - C&Ps resident "internet kleptomaniac" |

The problem with the idea behind saying low sec PVPers are any better than high sec PVPers, is the fact that most are just as bad as the high sec war decers.
First you have the Pie gangs, that fly around with 10-20 BC's to BS with mixed in recons & T3s with tons of logistics. These guys typically rarely ever fight it out and just gank easy prey on gates.
Then you have a high sec/null sec gangs that come into low sec and essentially just bait and blob anything they can get to aggress.
Last but not least are the FW blobs. These are typically 20 to 30+ not typically very organized but will gank pretty much anything easy. I will admit that they are more likely to have it out with other FW gangs and will typically try to gank or throw themselves at other gangs.
All pretty much use numbers to their advantage as a way to advert risk. meaning personally I don't see much difference in the average low sec pvpers vs high sec station humpers or null sec cearbear blobs.
In the end, there are very few that use skill over numbers and typically those that do are soloing anyway. Personally, to me PVP is more about setting up the fight, rather than the actual fight. I prefer the hunt part.

This. There is not such thing as "PvP" in EVE. Only blobings and running away when they feel the heat. WH space is the closest thing because fleet limitations by design.

Edited by: Karl Planck on 24/03/2011 20:30:25 WH space isn't filled with carebears...ROFL. Now, there is a great deal of good solid pvp. But A LOT of the time those are ganks. A do love the mechanics for being a seperate part of the game. But lets all admit something about your pvp haven. There is a great price. And that price is tediousness and boredom. , Anyone who lives or has lived in wh space will attest to how f*cking terrible scanning all the time can be. Edit* not to mention that there are no belts to jump around in, no sec bonuses for killing rats. PVP in wh's is great, don't get me wrong, but aside from the absence of blob warfare (and that is being kind) it has its own problems.
While fun at first, after a while not many people can't take it. IN ADDITION, lots of fights involve pos's. And while that might either be shooting at it for hours or it be blockading the whole from getting fuel, that too is extremely boring.
Just saying, lets be honest here. -------------------------------------------------

Good highsec pvp involves corporations and individuals who have a very broad understanding of aggression timers, baiting, locator agents, OOC alts, and metagaming in order to get their pvp. It's can be very arduous and time consuming getting the pvp you want in highsec.
Lowsec pvp involves a solid understanding of individual pilot skill. The better the individuals know what their ships are capable of achieving, the better the lowsec pvpers are.
Nullsec pvp involves a good FC and groups who can ship into what ship is called for. Pretty much one guy runs the gang, and if everyone listens then they will do well.

While you literally know nothing about 0.0 or lowsec, your assessment of hisec is pretty accurate.
Hisec is less about PvP and more about ******ed games in order to shoot something. It's not about good fights, it's about feeling :smug: with your buddy buddies when you kill 1 ship with 10. It's not really PvP, and the people that do it for the most part aren't really good at EVE because they never actually have a real fight on their hands.

GJ missing the point. People don't highsec pvp for the fights, they highsec pvp for the metagaming, the stalking, and the potential to cause massive chaos amongst people who most definitely don't want to be pvp'ed.
Your post is pretty much the equivalent of going to play bumpercars, and at the start you race to the other side of the arena as fast as you can. While you literally know nothing about 0.0 or lowsec, your assessment of hisec is pretty accurate.
Forty-four female Sprague-Dawley rats were used, weighing between 200 and 250 gm each. A deep level of anesthesia was maintained with pentobarbital sodium. The chorda tympani nerve was exposed with a lateral approach and pared down until the discharges of individual neurons could be led off through a fine (125/t) uninsulated nichrome wire electrode over which the nerve strand was looped. Data were obtained from 62 single neurons.
The potentials were displayed on a Tektronix 502 oscilloscope and photographed with a Grass C4 kymograph camera, often after storage on a Sanborn-Ampex 2000 magnetic data recorder. The data used consisted of the number of discharges produced by individual neurons in the first second of activity evoked by various taste stimuli.
A flow chamber was fitted over the anterior portion of the tongue for the administration of the taste solutions; no saliva could flow onto this part of the tongue. Each stimulus was flowed over the tongue for about 4 seconds, followed by a distilled water rinse of about 20 seconds. The stimuli and the rinse were at room temperature. The stimuli and their concentrations were as follows: 1.0 M sucrose; 0.3 M CaC12 and KCI; 0.1 M LiC, NaCI, NH4CI, Na2SO 4, NaNO3, and NaOH; 0.03 M HCI; and 0.01 M QHCI (quinine hydrochloride).
These concentrations were selected to produce response magnitudes of roughly half the maximum possible for each stimulus, except for sucrose which is too viscous at concentrations greater than 1 M. Several salts were used since it was found convenient in the treatment of the data to have several similar stimuli; this will become apparent below. These stimuli were presented in random order, each from one to 15 times depending on how long the fiber continued to give spike discharges that could be identified as originating from a single neuron.

Yeah, when explaining it to the unfamiliar, I like to compare WH PvP to fishing. You spend quite a bit of time bored out your mind, wondering what you were thinking back when it seemed like a good idea. But, every once in a while, you land a whopper and get to brag to all your friends about it.

Comparing an FPS to this game, in terms of PvP is ridiculous, has to be troll, am only responding because I somewhat disagree with your assertion that solo PvP is unviable in this game. It is most definitely still viable. It is just far riskier nowadays than in the past (or at least it seems that way). As for the comparison to WoW, I again assume troll or abject ignorance, either way I deign to reply.
(btw, you might wanna go for a 3rd edit. It is xbox360, not xbot360. And, warfare, not warfair)

I heard the Iraqi army called unfair pvp when the US Air Force bombed them.
There is no real pvp in EVE, there is only winning or losing and then feeling :smug: about winning or sore about losing. There is nothing wrong with this arrangement. ---------------------------- GoonWaffe is recruiting. |

Lol at high sec PVPers...If you ever manage to get them to go off dock range or jump range they are pretty easy to kill. They love doing what they do,shooting afk haulers but in the end when it a fight is involved they usually run once a gang with same numbers is there.Stuck in their fantasy that PVP is played only in docking ranges and up to 20 kms once you field a couple of long range recons for tackling and some alpha strike dudes they wonder what happens when you land 60km away from them and slaughter them(and their neut logis that get insta poped). Its a nice thing to have your corp wardecced by them, you can actually try and practise against them before you go to low sec or null sec where there are cynos, jump bridges, bubbles and ofc blobs and make things a bit more interesting than playing with the dock button. Ofc if you do stuff correctly you ll find your self without decs and their KBs with no "campaign" about you..

HIGH SEC: Trying to kill WAR TARGETS before the grid loads when they undock -or- they warp to an INST-Undock.
NULL SEC: Trying to kill NON-BLUES before the grid loads when they jump into you -or- in a bubble while they run to a gate.

No, I think you misunderstood my post.
I've done alot of hisec PvP, been in all the major merc alliances, and understand that it's metagaming. It's not PvP though, that was my point. There's quite a few people in :hisec: alliances that think they're PvP gods despite the fact that the only PvP that they actually engage in is your typical "target undocks, get him to aggress, warp 20 friends to you" sort of fight or "target undocks, have people on every gate in the system and get tackle on him, then bounce him through gates".
I understand some people love the metagaming of catching someone and the related stuff, but pretending that the fight itself is impressive, or that there's any PvP prowess there is ridiculous.
If you wanted a better analogy, it's like being in a race, and people playing bumper cars. People are racing, then there's a bunch of people playing bumper cars. Good on them, they're enjoying themselves. But they're not racing.

Originally by: The PitBoss there's no difference between hisec pvp and nullsec pvp
The key difference is that alot of fights don't happen at stations, and that there are a lot more actual fights in nullsec/lowsec then there are in hisec.
Firstly because there's less carebears there, and secondly because the people that are there accept some small risk and therefore it's unlikely that you get :hisec: pvpers there who are almost as bad as the carebears they're trying to shoot.

Originally by: Sarfux Ok, all these people talking about skill in eve. lmao...what skill? There's no combos, no button mashing, all you do is press f1 and orbit, oh I forgot you MIGHT have to call in on someone to rep you which...again takes NO skill to do. Oh wait...you have to press f2 to warp scramble or f3 to web. Where is this skill I here of...I have been playing for a year and a half now and there are no "skills" so to speak in this game. The only skill you have is when you have everything trained up to 5 and 45 and living in your mom's basement.

I didn't read this thread for awhile based on the title and it is just as silly as I thought it would be.
It has devolved into a lot of chest beating and a few good posts.
I will add that it really does not matter what another player thinks of how you pvp, or pve for that matter, only that you enjoy doing it enough to justify keeping your account subscribed. ---------- Bah humbug. |

It really doesn't. I'd actually prefer if the orphanage stuck to Jita and GTFO of C&P, then I would never have to deal with their incompetence.
