A few of us in the SCC-Lounge were discussing the value of an updated list with information useful to an MD investor. A list by the MD community for the MD community.
I was thinking this list would have 2 categories: Bonds and Equities One line per investment with relevant info such as NEISEN/Ticker, CEO, offering size, dates, interest rates, status, thread links, etc.
Q1: What do you guys think of this? Q2: What info would you like to see? Q3: Is this too ambitious?
Suggestions, comments, b!tches, moans, complaints?

A3: Maybe. Depends how honest you are.

@Moto:
I think this would be a commendable initiative, but MD investors are not true investors. They are gamers who play investors. They expect what they watch on TV to be a true teaching.
I have seen way many of the MDers follow common mistakes like buy and hold forever (even when market goes against you, in hope of better ways), to believe way many cretins proposing blatantly obvious scams, to be baited with manipulation threads. This is like the opposite of what you must do in order to be an investor.
With this background, they probably prefer seeing the latest 4chan stuff instead of having an history of investments, which would provide tons of valuable information to actually succeed at their business.
I don't think there are enough committed people to i.e. sponsor whoever is going to put the massive effort required. Just look at audits: many want and demand them but 1 in 1000 investors would ever entertrain the idea of paying them (like it happens in RL instead).
They want the cake and eat it. This is what makes MD a worse place and what makes them gamblers, not investors. The few Investors in MD are clearly seen by their double-triple digits succesfull accounts and their open mind to these things.
It's past the RAW23 / Flakeys / Taram Caldar / Emmgel "active" era now. Imho that was when MD investing peaked. Now it's declining into a more boring version of CAOD.
@Atima: what's special with giving a valuable item back? I am sure there's plenty of people who do that every day. When you see the news with the traitor officer who stole 100B, that's just one of many who daily could steal 100B but don't.

If you want an offering listed, please post it here: "[NEISIN],Issuer,Date offered, Size, Interest/dividend rate, Maturity,Status" along with links.
Please send Donations to Moto Akimoto. (It would take alot of effort to maintain.)
Suggestions, comments, b!tches, moans, complaints?
This is an excellent idea and has, I believe, been tried a few times in the past. The big problem is maintenance (and also keeping track of how shares stand, which is rather trickier than bonds).
I would suggest doing it on a google document rather than a thread though, and handing out the editing keys to a few people. This will mean you will be able to pass ownership and maintenance duties to someone else if you want to step down or take a break.
A further project I've been meaning to get round to is hiring some amateur historians to trawl MD for all the historical bond and share data going right the way back. Such data could be nicely integrated with an ongoing list. If anyone wants to offer to do the data trawling, just send me a mail saying how much you would like to be paid per 20 offerings covered.
One piece of historical data I would definitely want collected and one that you might want to add to your list for ongoing offers is 'audited?' and, if yes, auditor name and link to the post. Third parties involved are probably worth tracking too.

Looking at the list so far I think a bit more detail needs to go with the status of the offering. Failed to launch certainly needs to distinguished from scammed/defaulted.

I support this.
And if you need some help, would be willing to put some time in. I'm no Shar Tegral, but I have posted on MD a few times... so that's something.
Since there are multiple fields to track, a spreadsheet does seem like a logical venue for the full record-keeping. But, I do think that having a minimalist post (with links, size, issuer, and status) on MD would be a quick resource.
And I'd recommend posting size in Millions of ISK... all of those zeros remind me of Jita scams too much. ---------------------- My *locked* EVE CV |

I will put up a googledoc link next week or so, depending on how long before the new forums are up.

A 'rep' graph of those listed there as 'excellent' would make for amusing reading.

For posterity (and maybe give an idea or two), previous examples; My MD Report website was very similar to the Kasia Pelarar ones, but in one WordPress blog with charts and sheets from GoogleDocs. The share information is now completely private as I have not updated it in a while (you might have guessed ).
What I have noticed is that there seems to be less offerings (bond or share), they are smaller and the investment rates are lower. There is also a lot less trading of shares (I remember the days of EGSEX and doubling money ... when the broker could deal with the transaction ).

For the sake of being thorough a list like this should also include things like Torn Soul's BMBE, Grendell's 3rd party secured offerings, and Block's BSAC exchange and his various funds and bonds.
Some of the MD regulars might have not cared for Block's offerings as of late, but omitting them seems like an oversight.

It still irks me that I was listed as 'high risk'. I'm just as honest as Chribba and have always been virulently anti-scam.
I once made a deal to buy a jump freighter for 3.6b. The seller contracted it to me but forgot to include any isk. I didn't notice when I accepted the contract so I effectively got a free jump freighter. What would YOU have done in such a circumstance?

Apropos my last post I've just been looking at the 'low risk' list. I shudder to think how much has been scammed by some people on that list. Rather more I would think than the people on the 'high risk' list.
