I get plenty of solokills in FW... just gotta know what to fly and how to fly it. Solo pvp doesn't mean 1v1's, it means 1v10's and surviving.

Greetings:
Ditto on what Nano J shared (IFW a number of good solo combat pilots including Nano J). While you have to hunt for it (last night was a solo fight against a Zealot war target), you can find solo pvp fights.
Plus if you develop a reputation for honoring 1v1's, you'll also get them via just asking or getting convo'd.
Thank you.

Edited by: Small Steamed Bun on 29/03/2011 04:13:40 well from what ive seen on these forums solo pvp and eve itself have been dead/dying since i started playing in 07.
its weird though because all i really do is solo pvp and those fights seem real to me at least...
i will say that the general population rise and power creep has definitely made it more challenging. i guess it probably depends on your expectations.

You maybe have 10 true solo kills out of the 500 kills you got in 2011. Note that I don't count the ones where you may be solo on the kill mail, but judging from related kills are obviously in a fleet engagement (where it is not 1vX, but XvX).
The point I'm making here is that you are not a solo PvPer. You will take the opportunistic solo kill in between your your regular PvP activities and those are few and far between.
Someone who purely solo's might get a little more of those solo kills, but you can still easily go a couple of roaming nights without getting an actual kill. Definitely if your online time happens to be outside of the peak hours.

Solo pvp is not and wont ever be 'dead'. You just have to be patient and tactically aware. Get out and solo roam and find out for yourself instead of listening to even 05 chars speaking s*** they dont know about.

I am out every night solo pvp'in :p
It just feels since xmas, solo is harder than ever. It feels like EVERYONE is friends with EVERYONE. I also fly the correct ships imo, I fly taranis' and DPS frigates like the daredevil for fast dogfights and gtfo.
I also agree 1v1's are dead, solo does mean 1v10 and surviving but it just seems that nowadays nobody wants a good fight, all they want is a km.
If i was to try engaged a sabre for instance, perfect anti frigate solo dictor (tbh i would say the flycatcher is a better antifrig dictor now? I like it :p) they just dont shoot back anymore, if they dont have backup at the ready or ecm they just chicken out and jump.
The only thing I have super awsome luck of killing is dramiels, they think they are soo leet they can kill anything.
It just feels that everyone in eve is getting more and more afraid of losing to a 1 on 1 before backup arrives.

I hear you can still get some good solo fights against all sorts of ships in RvB and to a lesser extent in FW. In terms of lowsec or 0.0 it's getting harder and harder to get anything solo now, or at least without a probing / covops alt.

You maybe have 10 true solo kills out of the 500 kills you got in 2011.
You have zero idea of what you are writing. Nano J, Dagren Darius, Silence iKillYouu, Bengal Bob, Bahamut420, Bischopt, nasty1, reamorph, cocobutter, myself, and a number of us in Minmatar FW typically get far more than 10 solo kills per month.
In 2011 alone, Nano J, Dagren Darius, Silence iKillYouu, and Bengal Bob appeared to be in competition for who would have the scores (in case you do not know, a score = 20; and scores is plural -- that is scores per week) of solo kills each week on the Minmatar faction warfare kill board.
Just yesterday, Bahamut420 had a number of solo kills in his Machariel including a Pilgrim; a few weeks ago he took out a small gang (which included several tackle and a hurricane) solo with his Vagabond.
Bengal Bob shared that he is trying to solo every frigate and cruiser class in his frigate hull sips; and so far, he's been doing a great job at it.
Count T.R.I.A.D.'s campaign into Amarr high security space, T.R.I.A.D. members are making a five to a score of solo kills per day... with the Amarr / Caldari navy on top of them, and typically small gangs of war targets after them.
You can get 1v1 (pure solo), one vs. a small gang, and small gang vs. small gang in Minmatar faction warfare.
Thank you.

Edited by: Seraph Castillon on 29/03/2011 15:13:15 Like I said: I don't consider it to be a solo kill when the circumstances of the fight (other kill mails at the same time, same system) point out that he/she was in a gang at the time. The fact that you happen to be alone on the kill mail does not (IMO) mean it is a pure solo kill.
What I'm basically saying here is that killboard stats don't show the entire picture and may in this case be misleading. (Also: Ibisses and ****fit T1 frigates may give you a kill mail, but are rather irrelevant to the topic being discussed in this thread.)
The OP on the other hand seems to have plenty of pure solo kills.

And what I'm writing is that I'm one of many who had live witness to the a large variety of the kills being solo. So unless you were there in the system of the kill and can write otherwise, please write about what you have proof.

You have no Idea how Kill Boards work do you.
Just cause you see some other kills in the system at the same time or around the same time does not mean that there was a gang or fleet. The KBs just group kills in the same time frame together.

If you see a series of militia kills or any other corporation or alliance in a system, within a limited time frame (say 30min) on a persons killboard. And on those kills are the person who's killboard you are examining along with several others in his/her corporation or militia, others who keep appearing on most of the kills in the above mentioned time frame ... Then yes, that does mean the person was in a fleet and was killing things with that fleet. Therefore, by my definition, all kills in that time frame where the person is alone on the mail are not solo kills. Why? Because the person most likely simply beet his fleet to the kill.
If you refuse to accept this then either your definition of solo is different, which is fine, but I don't think that's what we're arguing about here. Or you're just to thick headed to accept simple logic.
This was fun, moving on now.

Greetings:
My definition of solo is solo; one not in a fleet. However, if one is in a fleet (especially no boosters around), and ends up killing a target without the fleet participating, that's also a solo kill.
Most of my solo kills are unfleeted (I cannot speak for the party I fought; only myself). And there are times I'm several systems away from the fleet (i.e. heading back to base to call it a night, or restocking ammo) and I run into a target I can engage and fight, that's also solo.
Thank you.

You're right in that a lot of my solo killmails happen when I'm in a gang and I happen to kill some noob who has no idea what is going on. On the other hand though, I often feel like just going out by myself and see what I can find. This means I go out by myself; no fleet, no alts, no voice comms with anyone. I'm usually pretty successful.
Do I consider myself a solo pvper? No. I know people who exclusively solo. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy doing it or that I'm bad at it. Killing ****fit frigs in the middle of a 10-man gang isn't easy. And the whole point of being solo is to be opportunistic.
The original argument was that solo pvp is dead. I can say with experience that I've gone out on many occasions completely alone and killed stuff. Most of it happens in EU TZ when there are more targets around that feel that they're invincible, so they're more likely to be stupid. On top of that, there are others that go solo'ing a lot more than I do with greater success. Oh, and when I'm in a fleet engagement, I stick to the primary. Most of my solo killmails are snipes, ganks before any of my buddies could *****, or actual solo work. More often than not, I get mad because somehow something *****d onto my target before I was able to solo it.

lol solo pvp
I'm a solo player.. my killboard's kinda **** but it's what I do and it's not really dead.
Obviously there are more people joining their little gangs because they haven't got the stones for solo or it just doesn't interest them as much as bigger battles.
Also 1v1s are not dead. Half of my kills lately are from arranged 1v1s, do it in fleet and in a safespot. I killed a Wolf in my Malediction who tried to dishonour by leaving the fleet and warping friends in, they arrived too late and I got away with a kill. Just be ready to leave the fight if they leave the fleet unless your enemy is gonna die any second.
So Giboo, if you're having trouble in one area, go to a different area; works for me. I spend a lot of time in Siseide, but roaming through lowsec to places you've never been can be fun and get you kills.

I've seen you around a reasonable amount in our neck of the woods; and while I've not engaged you lately, I would agree you fight solo.

Some people engage in solo PVP. They fly around by themselves and attack other ships. They typically say, "Solo PVP is alive and well, though I often can't attack somebody because of their friends."
Some people engage in gang PVP. They fly around in gangs or fleets and attack other ships. Their target selection is much wider than those that do solo PVP. When they themselves fly solo, they find themselves not being able to engage ships or gangs they normally engage when part of a gang themselves. They tend to say "Solo PVP is dead. I get my action in gangs!"
Some people used to engage in a certain kind of solo PVP that no longer is effective. If they continue to solo PVP, they'll say "Solo PVP is viable, but you have to adapt." If they don't solo PVP anymore, they'll say "I used to fly solo but it doesn't work anymore."
Bottom line: Whether or not you think solo PVP is dead or not depends on whether or not you solo PVP or who you believe on these threads.

Well I used to get a **** load of fights around m-o to p3 but recently just no one will fight me solo around there, I am literally the only neutral in the area and it feels when my name gets mentioned in intel channels someone shouts out "DONT TAKE HIM 1V1, HE USES H4X, HE KILLED ME"
It all started day after I went rampage and solo'd several small gangs along the pipe with a harpy...
I went to BWF area, no one really cared to notice me and remained docked/pulled out lolantime gangs.
EC-P8R, utter waste of time. If the gate isent campt he rest of the region just blows, eve x-7 (7-x? :S, the soe system) is busy as hell but most of it is NC ***gots all docked. I got one fight there and nothing else. Went to FCON space and after taunting smack in local I see them forming a gang but 1 person had the balls to come get me solo ( lost the fight but fs, was still a fight...)
Where the hell else can I go? lol, im running out of ideas...everything is fkin miles from jita :p

Solo is not dead but perhaps has seen better days. (I am not a veteran so can't say for sure)
I fly solo allot. FW is the way to go for this if your in low sec and you want to fight pvp pilots. You can enter a plex in a busy system. That way you can have protection against blobs.
It comes in waves. I will spend a few days wasting hours roaming with very little pvp. Then all of a sudden I will have 6 destroyers attack my t1 cruiser and unforgettable mayhem will commence!
