I like the Mega hull and want to fly one. I know rail issues make either sub optimal for PvE, and I don't care so please no suggestions to fly another ship.
For general level 4 use - no specific rats in mind, I will be moving around, which will lead to a better lvl 4 experience. Vindicator swapping to Noctis for cleanup when needed or Kronos.

Vindicator, it does more dps and you need it because rails suck. One thing that the Kronos has over the Vindi is that it tanks more and is easier to keep cap stable.

Vindi is better for blitzing, however it don't archives the performance levels of a Nightmare or Mach. ---- Nerf Tank - Boost Gank!

Kronos
Vindi's target range is neither rail nor PvE friendly. Fleeted with 10% range bonus and sebo will of course help.. I still don't like Vindi for PvE, at all. ---------------------------------------- Treat the EVE markets like you are its Pimp.. it is your 'willing' employee to fondle n use n abuse as you please. |

Kronos.
The damage difference is, iirc, nonexistant (4x at 200%*125% vs. 8x at 137.5%), but using half the guns means that you'll use half the ammo & half the cap... while having twice the cargo bay and the capacity to loot and salvage on the run.
Since you need light drones to kill scraming frigates, the slight bandwidth difference is irrelevant. 5x light and 5x medium work wonders when it comes to hitting small things.
Go Vindicator if you're BS ratting, I guess, or need to pull out a crazy ammout of dps... But for L4's, a Kronos is king of the gallente bs fleet.

addendum: use faction antimatter w/ kronos, and do ~591 turret dps @ 35 km optimal. for most L4's, i dpn't even wind up using my armor tank.

I'm just gonna leave this here :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHOackUoAt4
of cause this isn't level 4 missions... but the vindicator can pwn stuff really fast :P so even with blasters (+ mwd!) the time it takes to fly close enough to the targets are worth it... apparently that Vindicator in the link does 1800-1850 dps with 2x 5% dmg implants

I can't speak for Ariel's Kronos fit, but mine looks like this.
Highs x4 425mm T2 x2 Savlager x1 Tractor Beam
Mids x2 Cap Recharger T2 or x1 ABT2 and x1 Cap Recharger T2 if I have to move at all. x2 Tracking Computer T2 (tracking script for sub 40km targets, tracking and optimal beyond 40km)
Lows x1 Large Amarr Navy Repper x3 Fed Navy Mag Stab x3 Hardeners T2
Drones x5 Light, x5 Med
Rigs x1 CCC x1 Large Hybrid Collision Accelerator
This is an incredibly lazy ship to fly and unless I have to move in a mission DS, i.e. fly towards a gate or fly towards a mission objective, I don't move. I don't have to. Faction AM ammo smacks into everything quite happily within 45km if I'm running one optimal and one tracking script. Closer range I'll switch to two tracking scripts. For targets beyond 45km I'll switch to faction Uranium ammo and for anything beyond 65km, I'll use Thorium, which is good all the way out to max lock. As a rule, I try not to pop anything potentially worth salvaging outside of 40km range, but I'm not wedded to that. Sometimes I might trundle towards something out of tractor range while pewing other targets.
Drones are used....sometimes. Unless anything starts in sufficiently close range for them to be worth deploying, there usually isn't much point. I suppose I could swap out the salvage gear for drone link augmentors, but thats a bit like work and I'd have to dual box to salvage on the fly.
It isn't a terribly dynamic ship or fitting to fly, but it works.

1st difference between the two of them? -Vindi = fast training if you are already gallente trained, lots of fun -Kronos= don't listen all the nerds thinking that you started you char with Marauder skill and don't even remember how much time you need to get in to those ships or because most of them have buy theirs trained char from older players.
If you don't have the marauder skills, make a plan with evemoon to see how much time that will take you and if you are ready to wait months (maybe a year depending on your skills) to get in to a kronos and start doing stuff. If you don't mind spending 2weeks on command skills to crosstrain matar then do it and get in to a vindi to start right now having some fun.You can allways continue the marauders skills after this. ________________________________________________

To fly the Kronos, it will take between 3 months and 5 months ( 30 days Gallente BS 5, 30 days Advanced Weapon Upgrades, 50 days for Large Railguns and Large Blasters T2 )
To fly the Vindicator, it will take 15 days. But, you will need to train Large Railguns and Large Blasters T2, Advanced Weapon Upgrades 4 then 5. You can use Large Railguns and Large Blasters T1 M4, but it won't perform the same as T2s. :)
And why I advice for the Vindicator ? Because it has more EHP ( more Shield, Armor, Structure ) so it can tank better. You can even bleed into armor without a problem. :p It has more Capacitor, better sensor strength ( for those jamming guristas ), better locking time and .. i'm sure i'm missing something. :D I feel free to explore only within boundaries. |

You've confused actual health with effective health. The Vindicator has higher actual health (shield, armor, structure) which is great for PvP and means diddly squat for PvE. The Kronos has higher resists than the Vindi and an armor repair bonus. The Kronos runs a more effective tank than the Vindi for PvE.
The main advantages the Vindi has for PvE are that it looks better and has slightly higher drone bandwidth.

You should see my shield tanked, blaster totting 4 damage mods + tracking enhancer vindi. It's even cap stable as long as you don't run the mwd :).

I've seen some very tasty looking shield tanked Vindi fits (usually followed by endless ill informed QQ from people saying it "should" be armor tanked) and wouldn't mind trying one myself.

Properly fit, shield buffer vindi can hit over 2k DPS when overheated.
EFTing of course. :P

Don't forget that the vindi doesn't need lights and meds to take out tackle frigs. webbing bonus is sick.

Yes, because turning your main guns onto frigs at close range is waaay more efficient than having drones do it while your main guns are pew pewing the larger ships.

You really should work on your trolling skills. Calling the Kronos the king of the Gallente BS fleet for PvE is just too obvious.
