Today it gives me great pleasure to announce a great event in HDYÆs history. For the first time in 2 years we have decided to give up our neutrality and join the FIX alliance. It has not been any easy decision, many hours of burning the midnight oil at the Executive discussion table has occurred, but we feel we have found an ideal place to call our home.
For some months now HDY has considering the political moves in the Eve universe and deciding our options with a view to setting up a permanent home in 0.0 space. It soon came to our attention that this would not be possible without joining some existing alliance in order to be able to mutually defend our interests and ideals. After some research it soon became blatantly obvious that only one alliance matched HDYÆs ethos and that is the FIX alliance.
Therefore at 20:02 Zulu on the 04/02/05 Hadean Drive Yards formally joined the FIX alliance. The FIX alliance is composed of honorable and friendly corporations, and their gracious acceptance of our application honors us as I am sure they are honored to be chosen by a well known, and respected corp as HDY.

I think we'll be fine, thank you for your interest in our welfare.
But looking at all the BOB here, I just wonder, since SE started this war, why is it SE can't fight the fight they started, or wanted? They have to have BOB do it for them? Seems a bit meaningless especially since SE are the ones making the claims about beating FIX into the ground.
Of course, these are my personal views, but it has to make you stop and wonder...are SE really that capable of fighting a war they start?

Since Beta I have watched HDY manuver the difficult world of successful, independant corporations. I have even invited them to a few alliances. At every one of their milestones Oberon has congradulated HDY for their achievements.
At this important milestone, all I can offer this time is a sincere "good luck".

Edited by: Gungankllr on 06/02/2005 13:26:01 Hadean Drive Yards has been around since the beginning. We have always remained neutral, and as a result have made a great many friends by our fair business practices and sense of honor.
In order for us to grow and expand, we jointly decided that we would need to establish a presence in 0.0 space again. HDY used to occupy areas in 5-6q, before the entire CFS/FA/whoever wars took place.
Upon an exhaustive search, and literally hundereds of back and forth posts on who, what, when, where and why, a decision was reached that we would offer our services to FIX.
This was just days before the current conflicts began.
Hadean Drive Yards, as an entity, believes in Honor and Loyalty above all. We had already pledged our loyalty to the members of FIX, and while the hordes are battering the gates we will stand shoulder to shoulder with our new allies.
Most of us in HDY don't know why the current conflicts began, but now that we are here, we will fufill our duties and help defend our new home.
Most of these threads echo the sentiment, "You picked a bad time to join".
We beg to differ. We will fight, and we may die, but all of you will know that we won't stand idly by while our friends are attacked by such overwhelming forces.

I'm confused... what does SE call a fleet of 80 of their OWN ships if not a "blob?"
Some SE folks seem to refer to FA as "blobbing" when FA has 50 or so ships, but I've yet to see or see recorded an incident of SE bringing less than 50 ships to ANY of the parties in Querious.
If you guys really, really, are against blobbing, start showing up with 10 ships. Otherwise shhhhhhh. ------------------------------------- // The views expressed by this poster are not the views of the poster's corporation, alliance, planet or television network... but they should be. |

Firstly let me say thanks for all the feedback we have been getting from this post, And I do mean all the feedback, Even that from our SE adversaries.
To go a wee bit off topic though, You are complaining about "blobbing". I'm a bit confused. You seem to think that a tactic of deploying a large force of ships to counter a threat is bad?
An example in this thread is about a fleet of 9 SE Ships were meet by a force of 30 FIX ships. Its is just common sense tactics that all. Use diverse numbers to give a fleet the tactical advantage.
As an old movie once quoted, Never bring a knife to a gun fight.

I think also, that joining FIX during these irritating (nothing more tbh) times shows guts. I salute HDY for that....

Hadean Drive Yards is a corporation that is instantly recognisable to a great many in Eve, their reputation is without blemish, their dealings and practices are above questioning.
When I started Eve in beta, there were two corporations I found to be impressive from the information available to me. One was TTI, the other was HDY. My only question upon HDYs application to FIX that I felt a need to explore was their pvp ability and numbers.
HDY has more than risen up to the challenges it faces, and with the rest of FIX, I extend my warmest welcome to HDY. FIX had a number of trial members and applicants when the war broke out, if any had left no one would have sought to lay blame for their actions. We are very careful about who we allow into FIX, as it is, not a single trial member, nor even an applicant withdrew. Due to that, FIX has actually grown since the start of this war.
My respect for the corporations that have choosen to join us during this time of war is very high indeed, it speaks volumes for their integrity and courage.

I agree Fras that it's neutrality was what made it stand out from the rest, the downside is that it was restricting the growth of the corp and the decision had to be made whether they stayed in empire or go into 0.0.
No doubt they will still be selling to the public but the real test now will be to see if they can keep control of their growth and the increased sales demand while out in 0.0.
Anyway good luck to my recently departed corp

Edited by: Gungankllr on 08/02/2005 10:33:24 HDY in the past had always been neutral, and had always sold ships to all pilots, no matter what their security status was, or political affiliations.
With the sweeping changes that came in Exodus, we found there was no longer areas for us to mine the minerals we needed to sell ships at reasonable prices, as we were having to buy minerals (i.e. Zyd and Mega) on local markets as regional alliances had all closed their space to "neutral" parties.
In addition, we needed to have operations in 0.0 space to increase our corporation wallet in order to purchase BPO's, minerals and other sundries to be able to build ships at a lower overall cost.
After careful deliberation, we decided that FIX most closely fit our morals and values, henceforth we applied and now we call Querious our home.
And to the pilot with the personal issue with Hadean Drive Yards (by proxy in lieu of Badger) I rememeber there was an issue of Badger shooting someone up in Delve like 8-9 months ago.
I have never heard of you, nor do I know what the circumstances are, but you are saying that Badger shot at a Corpmate of yours. If you are no longer in that corporation, and Badger is now gone, I guess your problem is solved.
Also, as you're claiming not to be an alt, if that is the case then I appologize. It's just that 99.998% of all posts made by persons in NPC corporations that are negative in connotation are all someone hiding behind an alt to say something that they wouldn't say with their main character because they don't have the courage to deal with the consequences of their actions.
It's just gotten to the point on the forums that when I see a negative post, coupled with the author being in an NPC corp, I just ignore it as it is inevitably an alt flame post.

It is never a good time to join an alliance that is in a war but they applied to join FIX before it all kicked off and they still decided to carry on with the application when things heated up.

And I'll say it again, for a very long time, HDY was able to remain neutral because we had access to 0.0 space for mining of high end ores and NPC hunting, which we used to supplement our shipbuilding aspirations.
The reason for our change in neutrality is that when the CFS/FA wars began, we withdrew as we were at the time a neutral entity.
Slowly but surely, we began to realize that without access to 0.0 space, our corporation could not grow and prosper.
So we applied to FIX. About a week later, hostilities started between SE and FIX, and BoB, ex-CA, and all the other little remaining pirates thought it would be fun to jump in.
I don't think any one would have looked down on us if we picked up our equipment and left the area, only being trial members.
That's where you have to understand who we are. Most of us are prior or current military, and carry with us a deep sense of honor and respect for our fellows.
Seeing FIX in dire straits, we knew we couldn't leave them, not after they were kind enough to invite us into their fold, and not after we gave our word we would fight to defend Querious.
Some of the attacking forces understand what we are doing, some don't. It really won't matter in the end.
United we stand against the myriad of threats from outside our space.
You can kill us, you can blockade us, you can starve us and you can attempt to humiliate us on the forums, but we will still have our honor, and there is nothing you can do on this earth to take that away from us.

I personally don't think Overkill will ever be keen on alliances from what i've experienced, but he's not in command at the moment.
They will have seen the mistakes those two have made. They have the chance of preventing them before they become a problem, if not then they could go the same way as the others.

TTi was one of EVEs largest corporations, I don't know much about Techell but they had a lot of money at least. HDY is a smaller corporation, that means they have a lot better control over who their members are and what they do. This might prove to be a bad move for HDY in the end, or it might be great, but I doubt you can compare them to TTi and Techell and other similar corporations.
Heh, I had to edit this a few times before posting, I kept writing "we" and "us" instead of "they" and "them".

Two schoolexamples of productioncorps that forgot that neutrality is their first and only defence against others.
Both took a grasp for 0.0 space and both overplayed their hands (that and a few other 'mistakes', but that's where it started).
I agree that productioncorps need access to 0.0 space for their minerals, but there are other ways and there are definately better alliances to contact.
FIX is at the moment high at the list of endangered alliances and productioncorps can't afford to side with anyone, because their are too easy targets.
So is HDY committing an act of 'hubris'?

Why are the enemies of FIX so concerned with a corporation announcing they want to join us even while you are attacking us?
These guys posted this here as an informational post, there's no need to show up and flame them, discredit their leadership, proclaim that FIX is dying or compare the corporation to another (it's impossible to compare two distinct situations).
Why not just let them make their announcement, wish them the best, be thankful for more targets and move on?

Because, as part of the psychological and political warfare being waged against FIX, ATUK must attempt to demoralize you, not just fight you in game.
As long as you refuse to give up, they can't take over your regions. (This game makes it easy to bounce back from loss... and it should, or we wouldn't play it. But it does make territorial wars somewhat academic.)
Anyway, I want to say that I have always been tempted to apply at HDY for employment. I respect HDY for their past choices and fair dealings. I am awed by the organization I have been privileged to observe. I'm proud to find out that HDY are now my neighbors.

Techell and TTI made their own graves by deceit and backstabbing. HDY is full of straight up dedicated honest folks. I can tell you HDY is nothing like those other two corps.
I was in HDY from beta 4 until early spring of 2004 (when I joined CELES). They were there before me and they have done nothing but grown since that time.
It's going to take more then smacktalking SE and ATUK members to take them out. No they are not a PvP corp but i'm sure they can hold their own.
Sorry for the name calling but you need to think before you run your mouth.

Its been my experience that successful long standing corps know the game enough to survive by either enduring hardship very well, or by having the hindsight to avoid trouble ahead of time... One such company is Hadean Drive Yards. As a somewhat senior member of Carbide, I appreciate that HDY has picked us in a time where many are stacking their chips against us... It speaks volumes on our ability to succeed and on our qualities. I know some of you will jump on this saying I'm corny and tooting my horn and whatever else... I don't really care. There's plenty of drivel against fix in these forums. More or less won't change a thing.
The senior members of Carbide, who have been directing our corp since the Beta days, saw the potential of the FIX people and were eager to play a part in its founding... It's really cool to see like minded people find each other in game.
HDY, I look forward to hanging out with y'all at Rick Danger's ***** Bar in 9CG... You'll see its the hippest neighborhood, and when you get bored, you can jump in a ship and go pick fight in 5 minutes, we have ppl lined up at our doorsted 24/7 who want to fight us... That's how cool we are

Indeed, its been much to my surprise to see what has become of this war between FIX and BOB/SE. By the porpoganda spewed forth by ATUK, FIX should have been run over within the first days of the war. Tis great to see that after a couple weeks that FIX is still there, that SE fleets no longer attempt invading FIX space as they were in the first couple days of the war, that all BoB can do is camp A2 in there usual pirate fashion.
I salute you FIX for being another group who stand for there principles and dont allow themselves to be tread on.
And Boo to those who try to squelch the sovergnity of the righteous and just entities in eve.

Signed.
Id also like to add that we now have 4 empire wars against us, alcohol fuelled, arcane technologies, ua industries, pod-killers. Its great to know that our little alliance is standing up to about half of eve, and that its gonna take more then that to destroy us.

Quote: FIX is at the moment high at the list of endangered alliances.
Maybe I could start a new business selling ClueBatsÖ? . Intimidate FIX all you want, the importance of team cohesion, spartanism and a solid internal infrastructure has been demonstrated. Rigid structures will come and go but in the long run spartanism will serve better, IMHO. Im certain many people within BOB has learned this as well. This clan recently had their 5 year anniversary so I believe we are qualified to speak.
"The Athenian strategy moves to the top when things are going well. Spartanism grabs the throne when the world is going to hell."
"Mental toughness is many things. It is humility because it behooves all of us to remember that simplicity is the sign of greatness and meekness is the sign of true strength. Mental toughness is spartanism with qualities of sacrifice, self-denial, dedication. It is fearlessness, and it is love". Lombardi, Vince
Eve are moving to spartanism . BOB are the catalyst (meyham). Status que? no thx.. Choose your "friends" wicely.

I find it interesting that alot of people are using the term "vultures" to describe BoB and SA
U know vultures only cirlce when they smell the death of something right?

Well, buzzards aren't exactly vultures, but same general concept.
Dunno about 'everyone refers to SA and BoB as vultures', and isonkon didn't mention ya' by name.
Mighta been referring to all the other non-SA, BoB forces also coming down for, what I see now mostly as, the 'dogpile'. ATUK, m0o and SA started a trend and everyone else is now riding on their coattails to kill us, and now your windows must be practically -clogged- neutral, purple and blue with everyone tripping over each other to shoot at lil' red us!
Where-as, we can't even commit friendly fire accidentally because of the targets getting in the way!

Negative, they circle on visual cues. They can't smell death, the first thing they peck at is the eyes because every animal while it may not have the strength to flinch to an attack on extremities will react to an attack on the eyes... unless dead.
A couple of years ago, driving a Viper through Red Rock Canyon in Nevada we would stop to take pictures and the damn things would circle. Was 116 degrees (Fahrenheit) and we had no water, so maybe they're smarter than we thought? Point is, we were moving really fast only 10 minutes before hand...
