Once a few problems are ironed out, the new forums will be better in every way.
The old forums were dated when they launched. The only reason people think they prefer them is because they're used to them.

New forums, with a couple of changes.
Clicking a forum link should take me to the first page, unless I click on a specific page link.
Middle-Mouse clicking to open a new tab should do just that, open a new tab. It should *not* send the current tab to the link, while also opening a new tab to the same destination. I don't want to have to hit the back button every damn time I middle-mouse click a link!

Despite a couple of slightly annoying issues with the new forums, I still prefer them over the old ones.
Fix them and bring them back please
