Sup Guard, Nice to see you here. One thing stood out to me. Your interest in Community Projects. Well... I have a Community project you should get on board with.
See.. My project is, ANY CCP Employee that comes to Maui and lets me know they are here, gets bought a few brews (I Highly reccomend Maui Brewing Company's Coconut Porter), taken around in my old ratty car to see the less well known places to see, and if they, like me are persons interested in tempting our finned friends in the ocean to accept an offering, even get to use my not very used fishing tackle.
~Z
P.S. Did I mention I'd buy a few rounds?
This sounds great.

You are being tricked my dear, brand spanking new Community Dev just as the new forums fail horribly .. hmmm.
To me it looks suspiciously like someone higher up is in need of a head on a pike to show the angry forum mob to sate their hunger for blood after that fiasco
Speaking of, how fares the repair work on that project, will the new forums be let loose again any time soon?

Originally by: CCP Guard I want to work with you guys on making fun stuff happen so I'll be very open to ideas and suggestions from you guys, and if you need assistance from the Community team with a project that would benefit the community, I just might be your man. There are three easy ways to contact me: through the forum, via petition or email ([email protected]).
Let's talk about better Patch notes. It looks like NPC ECM mechanics were modified and it's catching people by surprise, where surprise means perma-jammed.
I don't thinks folks are adverse to the NPC ECM changes per se, but a little warning would have been nice due to the noticeable (and unexpected) impact it's having.
Without trustworthy patch notes, people will get into the habit of not doing anything remotely risky right after a patch (such as logging in) for fear being bitten by undocumented changes. (Let other people find them first.) Needless to say, encouraging people to not play the game after a patch isn't necessarily good for the community.
Can you run a request for more complete/accurate patch notes up the flag pole?
Thank you.

Hi SmashTech,
I do need to make more time to post and also to visit public channels in-game from time to time. I'm sort of in a transition between EVE and DUST 514, but I'll always be connected with EVE Online and the EVE Community team. So don't worry, I'm not gone. But CCP Guard is overflowing with that pizazz you mentioned, so you're definitely in good hands. We're really glad he's joined us on the Community side of things.
Last thing before I derail Guard's welcome thread any further -- you'll likely see more regular updates from me on Twitter than here on the forums. If you want to follow, I'm @CCP_Shadow

Welcome and Congrats!
...
Ok, how about a blog about those "new" forums. And no, I don't mean the security issues, Sreggs is handling that just fine. I mean CCP not listening to the community. We are divided on the visuals, so I don't really want to hear about that.
What we are not divided on is: The new forums are clearly inferior in function to the current forums. Why was this pushed through? Why was nearly none of the suggestions from the community listened to and iterated upon? The new forums clearly needed multiple more rounds of beta testing, or a process by which changes pointed out and requested from the community are listened to. Why was the old forum turned off instantly instead of easing into the new forum? Why isn't the content of these forums being pushed to the new forums? At least the stuff that is 90 days or less? We desperately need assurance that there will be CONTINUITY when you guys decide to roll out the new forums, or what's the point of these forums until the unknown date of the new instant roll out and turn off? Assured continuity means we can have legit conversations here and know that they will continue when the new forums come online. Why are the new forums customizable?
Does CCP even understand why this is such a big deal? The forums are the second most important communication tool in the game behind in-game chat. You guys screwed the pooch on the new forums (and I'm not talking about the security issues).
The security issues are just the single largest problem that the community is rallying behind it because it's the best way to attack and defeat the perceived enemy... the new forums.
The community is upset because CCP failed to listen to us. That is our perception. As soon as the back slapping stops, please start stepping up like Sreggs is on the security side and DEAL with us. Converse with us.

yeah and what about the people that think twitter is not worth the time to use? For that matter, what about the players who have neither a twitter account OR a facebook account?
My feelingn is... CCP blogs, and comments belong on the CCP forums, not some third party crap hole filled with idiots like that Twit from Alaska.

Twitter is totally worth it if the only two people you follow are Charlie Sheen and Dwayne Johnson.
It also reveals how terribly stupid certain celebrities (or their agents, whichever it is who writes their tweets) can be.

LOL No, but I have considered buying an acre or two and building an Earthship on it. That is pretty close to living under a rock XD.
Basically, I don't pay much attention to celebrities of any stripe as I just can't find their lives worthy of my interest. I'll enjoy a decent movie now and then and couldn't care less who the actors in it are.
Frankly, paying attention to celebrity lives... seems pretty pathetic to me. But then, I'm old and losing interest in the outside world. Now.. If Ozzy Osbourne came to Maui... I might actually find the energy to go to a concert if he did one, but.. other than that. Meh.

Twitter is just something I started using fairly recently as a way to keep conversations going with people, which has the advantage of being non-obtrusive while I'm at work. You're not missing anything by not being on Twitter as the big announcements are all made on the official EVE-O site, but a few of us (Fallout, Manifest, Zymurgist, and others at CCP) talk a bit with each other and with EVE players on Twitter when we can. Anyway, I'll likely be using it more now that I'm in a different TZ than the rest of the Community team. I'll still be on the forums from time to time just to talk though, so no worries.

im finding this interesting as... there has been a alot of "please listen to us" posts and the only things be replyed to aren't really all that important, im wondering why that is, not because i want for them to be answered just that it seems as the "PR" ppl don't really know and just skip them for things they can comment on and that suggets that there is a lack of talk between everyone at ccp...
but anyways welcome, do a good job please :/
