Dear CCP,
I recently opened a thread about introducing a new Launcher weapon for Battleships. The thread has the same name as this thread.
This launcher would be fitted to a Battleship, but would fire Heavy Missiles at an increased Rate-Of-Fire instead of Cruise Missiles or Torpedoes. This would effectively make this launcher the Battleship equivalent of the current Assault Launcher which is fitted to Cruisers/Battlecruisers and fires Standard (light) Missiles.
There was generally a positive response to my original thread (located in Ships & Modules forum), although the first few posters missed my point!
The feeling I got was that people thought there was no reason why a launcher available on Cruisers firing small missiles should not have a battleship-intended equivalent. Meanwhile, turrets currently have a kind of cruiser-sized 'Large' equivalent with a higher Rate-Of-Fire and Tracking speed. So, I thought why not for Launchers too?
There was also a feeling that this new launcher would not unbalance the game or make battleships over-powered.
I would be very grateful if someone could take a look into the feasability of this please?
Best Regards,
Sunviking

Heavy assault missiles are MEANT to be used on cruiser and battlecruiser sized hulls. Assault missiles are meant to be used on destroyer and frigate hulls, same as rockets.

I am talking about Heavy Missiles, not Heavy Assault Missiles.

Some balancing would be needed. For instance, dps should be significantly lower when compared to cruise missile launcher, with both unbonused. This would be in line with assault launcher -> hml.

Agreed, thanks for your input.

Only if I get Gatling medium and large pulse lasers!!!
Would be pretty sweet if the weapon line-ups were consistent, although a rapid fire 80km, 7-8 launcher missile platform might be a tad over the top even if damage was pre-nerfed .. The Assault Caracal obsoletes any frigate/destroyer in its vicinity just by showing, a BS with suggested launchers would do the same to cruisers which encompasses a far greater number of ships (HIC/HAC/Recon/T1/T3/Logi).
Perhaps a redesign of the, quite frankly, laughable cruise launchers is more advantageous.

And why are you opening another thread of this? It only wastes space on the forum database and nothing else. Opening the same thread every week won't increase your chance to get your stuff.

Quoting this because it shows Arden doesn't know what he's talking about.
Assault Missile launchers are a cruiser sized weapon that fires frigate sized missiles and with a ROF about 20% faster than the frigate sized version but with much higher PG requirements. They are very useful on a caracal giving a cruiser sized hull a very effective anti frigate weapon.
Yes Arden, it's *meant* to be mounted on a cruiser.
The battleship version would be similar, 20% faster ROF, shooting heavy missiles, twice the PG of the cruiser version.
The main drawback with assault launchers is that most hulls don't give them bonuses, only the Caracal, Caracal Navy Issue and Osprey Navy issue get any boost. The drake and cerberus missile bonus don't appear to apply to the assault versions, only heavy and heavy assault launchers.
