Will someone tell me all the ways to increase my chances of getting some kind of faction or officer drop ratting in belts?
I have literally ratted for 12 hours straight today with dual ratting 1000dps machs tearing thru the belts and the best I've found was two hauler drops. I used the chaining method too. I was in a -.9 nullsec space too.
There have got to be other ways to gain a better chance of getting an officer drop. I use to rat extremely often in the past and I still have never seen a single faction or officer drop in a belt ever in my life.
Also note I'm the ONLY person in the system this whole 12 hour period. |

As far as i've been playing, chaining was to increase normal npc spawn or sometimes faction ones. You get officer only if you kill all rats completely.
Faction rats do appear in anoms. In my personal observation, faction rats in an anom is a bad thing since they delay your chaces of getting a 10/10 which pays much better (MY OWN Observation).
Officers are always ini belt. |

NPC home regions are said to have a higher chance of officer spawns than other regions as all systems in these regions are treated as -1.0 regardless of actual truesec - e.g. you are more likely to encounter a Sansha officer in Stain than you are in Catch or Providence.
It is also theorized that within those regions spawn chances are especially high in the system or in close vicinity of the system that the officer is an agent in, e.g. you would be more likely to find Chelm in UF-KKH than in other systems. |

if i wanted sec fast id chain the 1.5+ bounty spawns, no officer doin that for me.
way i got em was to clean every belt of everythin, and just keep doin it, when you start gettin hauler spawns get ready you might get the officer, thats the way its happened for me.

If my memory serves me right there is a limit to how many officers can be in a region(or const) at a time. So it wouldn't be a bad idea to have one alt roam systems in the area checking belts. Also try NPC 0.0 where its their home region. It has a better chance of spawning. Venal for example. |

Yep, I had a True Sansha spawn at the end of Sanctum the other week, it dropped a true Sansha large armor repair, tags and ammo.
just in normal rat wreaks I sometimes get 100M blueprint copy's drop, large and Extra large Ancil, shield Booster blueprints. Prob 01 or 2 every few hours if I check every wreak. I get about 700DPS on the ship I use to rat,
I had an officer the other day. Dropped no officer mods sadly, just 500Ms worth of faction stuff. Was pretty hard to take down, got some friends in sniper ships to help me kill it.
I prefer to get hauler spawns. It can be tricky moving the stuff when there hostiles around, but the value of them is almost always 250m plus, sometimes as much as 600M+. Takes ages when it drops 3 carriers of Trit tho, :P
Faction spawns are usually 50-100M sometimes u get lucky and get a 200M drop but all too often they drop nothing at all, just some ****** ammo and tags.
You can make a fair bit scanning down sites in null sec as well, defo worth doing, the Plexs drop juicy stuff at the end of em, I usually run em in a small group tho, u can solo em, but its hard without an expensive ship, Mag sites are brilliant, just salvaging some containers while fending off a few rats, can drop 500M+ in T2 loot. |

Essentially, it comes down to luck of the draw.
Ive been playing eve for...gosh...4+ years now? Ive always lived in null, so sometimes when I have time ill blitz the belts.
I used to live in Hemin which is Angel Cartel NPC space. I belt ratted about 2 hours a day for a week, and one day a Tobias' officer spawned.
He dropped about 12billion in loot...and I was selling it cheap because I just wanted to get rid of it.
All in all, this is not something you should SEARCH for. If I spent 60 hours doing this, I could make far more than 10billion in 60 hours doing 10/10s upgraded nullsec... |

Also note I'm the ONLY person in the system this whole 12 hour period.
the way i used to do it was... wake up right around downtime.. then log in an alt in a fast warp inty... and literally when the server came up go from system to system scouring for officer rats...
at some point you will run into one and at that point all you have to do is bring in the big ship and kill it...
the chaining method is not good for officer rats as much as its good for isk/tick... if you want officer rats and are determined not to move around then you have to kill everything... as its a chance based system if that officer rat will appear... it will takes days in that approach...
edit: you should try to scan out sites... there are more high level complexes in 0.0 then there are officer rats... and usually if you have an alt can walk out with 1 billion isk + from a days work... At the end of the game both the pawn and the Queen go in the same box. |

sigh yes... you have to be fast... if he jumps out before you get there with the big ship then yeah... lather rinse repeat... as he is out there somewhere... though i wonder if i had tried to used a cyno with a thanny it might have been more effective (though dangerous cuss carrier in a belt = you want to get ganked)...

If you aren't belt bouncing and doing it fast in good truesec you are very unlikely to. If you want to see one ask Boat for his technique, that's how he used to fund himself.

I've never had the pleasure of meeting Boat. He never showed up to the fleets he was supposed to run.

I actually was pretty lucky with officer spawns.
Had 3 of them. 1 in stain, 1 in venal and one in insmother.
What i can say about officer spawns is that there extremely rare. These 3 where pure luck and all after 5 minutes of ratting or straight after downtime. Other days after 3 hours of ratting i got nothing.
There was this dude who tested some theories and he did get them but noone knows exactly how and where they appear.
Theorie is that they spawn only in -0.8 and lower systems and even more in npc space close the home of the agent with the same name. Yes all officers have agents with the same name. |

Chaining lowers the chance of a rare spawn.

Rat in a NPC home region - e.g. if you are looking for a Sansha officer rat in Stain, not Providence or Catch.
Allegedly there also is a higher chance to encounter an officer near his home station (all officers are mission agents for their respective faction).
And remember that you probably won't be able to solo an officer.
edit: bah, BrutalButFair made the same post 10 minutes ago I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid. |

Chaining is busted. Sometimes you do kill 3 BS rats and come back to 3 new BS rats, but you are just as likely now to come back and find 1 BS or a couple cruiser rats, or the frigs warped off and you got a whole new spawn. |

The Farming article on the wiki, gives some in formation on how to get special spawns, the Belt rat spawns and Rat also has some useful information.
Even if you do everything the right way, you chances of getting a officer spawn is really small.
"You could expect to run into officer spawn for every 20 to 40 faction spawns you find. Thus chance for officer is about one in 400 to 2000 cleared spawns, at least in good 0.0 space." GÇ£The best way to keep something bad from happening is to see it ahead of time, and you can't see it if you refuse to face the possibility.GÇ¥-á |

Find a quiet system with a ton of belts, and start clearing belts. Everything must die in every belt and continue going down the list until you see an officer.
Personally, I would try to get into a low-sec or nullsec system to do it. |

Well it would be right if he meant there is more chance of an officer in a system with more belts as there are more spawns that could possibly be officers. It makes no difference to the chance of a particular spawn being an officer though.

What are you doing exactly? Most times you leave leave the smaller ships taking out the BS and if you come into a belt that spans no BS you only clear it then. So if it has a BS you take it out leave the rest and if it spawns with no BS you clear it. Still with this method those drops are rare, hauler drops are nice though. Worse part is somone comes in and jacks up your method.
Good luck |

Right lines but as it is chance based the more rats killed will just increase the chances of an officer. Not to to with the amount of people per say just the amount of kills. God Said "Come Forth and receive eternal life!"-á I came second and won a toaster. |

To be honest I'm unsure I tried with a pimped Tengu and I think I would have managed but it would have taken me around 20mins to kill him, I jumped my carrier on him and he died fairly quickly, something that does 1000dps or over I'd imagine God Said "Come Forth and receive eternal life!"-á I came second and won a toaster. |

Had one chap who had been ratting all day, I'd just logged in and flew to a random belt and suprise suprise first belt first rat was an officer. Result! The other chap wasn't too pleased I can tell you. Farming 6's in gurista space will net you more than officer drops ever will.
