Rats now targeting drones.
Anyone else think this is garbage?
Effectively made my Ishtar useless for running missions solo or in groups. Thanks again CCP.
How about taking a look at macro miners instead of making missions more difficult on casual players who already have to fight to keep loot?
Although I suppose that would eliminate the need for everyone to dual box and cut your income dramatically. |

Sure you didn't just do worlds collide?
For some reason NPCs go nuts on drones in that, but all the other missions are fine, or at least were last i checked. |

Have tried several missions now with the same results.
I've been around long enough to know to shoot, gain aggro and then allow drones to mop up.
However, now my drones are targeted throughout the mission. |

Positive, I gained aggro on the group and allowed all targeting indicators to turn red.
Upon launching drones the NPC's targeting indicators returned to yellow, and they began firing on my drones.
First mission I noticed this in was "The Mordus Headhunters" level 4. |

I'm aware that rats target drones, but they should not switch targets once you have obtained aggro.

Was it mentioned in the patch notes about 2 patches ago that they tweaked the L4 missions with a variant on the sleeper AI?
I could have misread that tho, I'll admit that in a hurry ----------------------------------------------- Market help thread, or troll magnet? |

You didn't get too far away from NPCs after getting aggro? Did that mission in sentry ishtar, had no problems, didn't get full aggro - rats target drones, shot some rats, got the aggro and rats don't switch target afterward. |

According to Eve Survival while beeing in Mordus Headhunters in the first stage first group around the Gate shouldn't get attacked with Drones since this pulls aggro from the second group to the left upon them, in the second stage from the mission the very last group in the middle far far behind the group to the left and rigth i've to admit and recognized loves it to switch between targets while having drones out, so if you attack this group you will have to be carefull what your drones doing.

Oh good job Sherlock! You found out this is an 50k SP alt, now please turn your brain on again and read some manual about aggro controlling and drones. If you can`t deal with drone aggro - you failed miserably in this game. If you doing lvl 4 on afk-Domi or low dps Ishtar - you still failed, because there is more effective ships around (or carriers as evolution to "pure" drone farmers).
Have done lvl 4 in Gila yesterday, just as always without any changes, safe and boring. Paranoid noobs should be banned from GD channel discussion.

No, regular NPCs aren't using sleeper AI. The patch note that talked about it a long time ago said sleeper AI was getting upgraded (to be implemented as sansha AI for incursion sites.)
WC4 and Mordu Headhunters 4 both have spawns that are "anchored." If the NPCs move to the end of their leash they'll stop shooting, return to their spawn point and get new targets. There are a few others, but if NPCs have time to reach the ends of their leashes before dying, you're doing something wrong. It is possible that some dev made an undocumented tweak in the AI to make all mission NPCs respect leashes, but it's more likely you're either trying to AFK a mission or really really suck at EVE.

Ratting in some null sec belts tonight, I did notice one group of rats that deviated from their usual patterns...
I had aggressed a group of rats with Gardes but when they got within about 15km, I switched to Hammerheads. The rats suddenly changed from attacking me to attacking the Hammerheads. They were still flashie red at the time as well. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

I'd love it if all NPCs used a variant of the good AI. Of course, they'd have to reduce numbers, but that'd be good too. Anything to make PvE more challenging and less grindy is good. -----WARNING SIGNATURE BELOW-----

If we're into correcting other posters, you missed the comma before the which.

Originally by: Renarla Rats have always targeted drones.
Rats have always targeted drones if your main ship did not already have the aggro. So if it's a mission that has rats coming at you in waves, then your drones could be in trouble. Which is why it was better to bring them back into the bay, get aggro back on your ship, then release the drones again.
