Edited by: Svenjabi Xiang on 04/05/2011 12:04:12 From another of those whom live in the affected area of Alabama, I sincerely thank you for this effort. The damage was dreadful and my deepest sympathies to those whom have suffered loss. For individuals most severely affected though, this effort will help, and for that, again, I sincerely thank CCP Fallout, CCP Games, and the Eve-Online community.

Edited by: Squanto on 04/05/2011 12:41:26 This is a good thing CCP, keep it up. My home and car was hit in Raleigh, NC. This house is the house directly across the street from me:House Across Street
The storm did about 80-100K of damage to my home and it picked up my car out of my driveway, split a telephone pole into 2 pieces and tossed it into my neighbor's garage. Thankfully, nobody on our street was hurt and 5 houses were destroyed. Oddly enough no other street in our development was damaged. This is my car, picture #77: My Car pic #77 in My neighbor's Driveway
These are images of the homes on my street: Serendipity Drive

I have a question that isn't answered in the FAQ that was linked: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/PLEX_for_GOOD
Many countries around the world give companies tax relief for charitable donations. The UK rules (for example) though pretty modest - at most ś500 deduction from gross profits before calculating tax.
Does Iceland give similar tax relief for charitable donations, do the PLEX for GOOD donation count under such a scheme and does CCP use them these donations for tax relief (no matter how small)?
Cheers! -----

Wow.. I'm really thankful for CCP doing this. Thank you guys so much. A city just 30 miles south of where I live has been totally wiped off the map by the Mississippi River and over 3000 people have been displaced by it. The whole of the midwest and southern part of the US has been inundated by rain non-stop for the last three weeks. In my area alone near 18 inches of rain and we got it mild. Thank the maker that no tornado's have struck near here. Our infrastructure is taxed as it is, and that would only make a bad situation hell on Earth. My prayers go out to the people in the hardest hit area's and to all those effected by these storms. I live in the southern part of Illinois and have been spending a bit more time in my basement then I care for ducking from tornado warnings. Thank you CCP, and thank you gamers of EVE Online. This one brings it home for me.

No. The donation is literally made in the name of the EVE Online Community and not CCP.

Edited by: Wolf Spyder on 05/05/2011 16:42:43 Regarding a comment about scam warnings from CCP found in the firs comment.. I can accept that scams are apart of the EVE experience as it is designed to mimic a futuristic life. But in the case of a player scamming to get isk that was to be sent to do r/l good in disaster zones across the planet. That player that is found to be doing the scam should be forever banned from this game. Black list their billing address so that he cant simply create a new character and also ban their permanent ip address. That kind of person should not be welcomed in this game and should be viewed as a real life crime. Given the gravity of the impact that would be caused by such a scam. Severe penalties should be put in place to deter such a despicable act. As any given time any one of us could find ourselves being placed in similar disaster situation.
Having said that. How does CCP convert the isk in to r/l funds? is it a 1 to 1 ratio? This is an outstanding program that has been around for a while. Not everyone can afford to send actual money but anyone in eve can afford isk. A modification in to the minimum amount donated should be created to allow for the newest of players to participate if they choose.

Edited by: Davon Kastire on 05/05/2011 20:40:58 As an Oklahoman, I'd like to thank anyone who pitches in. I may not have lost anything in this outbreak, but I'm very concerned about my fellow Americans in Oklahoma and the neighboring states who lost everything from houses to loved ones. I know it helps the people in need, but I seriously need ISK to keep playing this game. 400mill already and it has just been announced! There is no way I can continue playing if prices go any higher. WHYYYYY CCP! WHYYYYY! Japan plexing, now midwestern plexing!!!! Double jump for the kill! The simple expression ęSuck, Squeeze, Bang and BlowĘ is the best way to remember the working cycle of the gas turbine engine.

If this isn't an incentive to donate more plexes I don't know what is.

As an American I sorta expected a low turn out (only 4 plexes so far). I mean this isnt hati quake or japan triaster or the kosovo massacer is probably why there is such a low turn out. The floods and storms did wipe out a few places off the map but thats a few hundred people not the thousands upon thosands of people who are still without homes in japan. But if you want the know the worst of the damage its the immense ecnomic blockage the flood is going to cause, right now we have freigheters getting told they're going to to be sitting around for MONTHS becuase the mississippi river is on hiatus. Entire highways are preventing the cargo trucks from making thier timely deliveries and with american gas prices the way they are going the long way around isnt ideal for business (though it sure heck beats paying 8 USD in australia for the same gallon back when it was 2.10$ in the states).
These are things that red cross are not going to be able to fix and it will most likely come at the cost of that companies, insurance, customers, and taxpayers, this disaster is a drop in the bucket in terms of katrina, andrew or the 9/11.
There' isnt even any requests locally from red cross for any help like blood dontations or dontations in general, I do know there are some local policial flarings popping about raiding the rainy day fund up but thats probably the only thing going on aside from our own releif efforts from good neighbors and the FEMA disaster relife organization.
I would like to say that the thought does count ccp, but I feel this effort is almost wasted. At least red cross will put it to good use somewhere else if it comes down to it at least so that in itself is nobel. For all you pod pilots out there thank you but I think you're better off waiting for the next disaster, until then you could donate blood to your local blood drives, that stuff is only good for 3 months in the fidge and the demand for blood is constanst disaster or not and it may save a life in the end espeically if a disaster where to happen and then it wipes out supply.
