So, it's only coming in early 2012 instead late 2011. That wouldn't be such a big deal, if only you wouldn't see stuff like this : Linkage
If ME2 is any indication to the direction they're heading in for ME3, and if they cranked it up even more in ME3... I'll probably barely get myself to finish ME3. Bleh.

I'm completely shocked that a reputable gaming company like EA would ever subvert their standards for broad mass-market appeal

Well, they are already shown that they are taking the franchise in that direction.. I finished it just because of the story, and I will probably finish #3 just to see how Sheppard kills of the reapers. I don't hold my breath for ultimate RPG experience (but Witcher 2 comes out in 2 weeks so all is not lost )
But It saddens my heart to see what Bioware has become: Baldurs Gate 1 - uber awesome rpg, how could it be any better?? Baldurs Gate 2 - **** just got better (or stayed the same as 1 which is great) Dragon Age 1(unooficial sequel of the series) - well, I remember BG1&2 being better, but ok, the sequel will be better Dragon Age 2 - wtf is this sh!T!

The real question is, what sold more units, DA:O or DA2 ? I have an ice-cold down-the-spine shivering feeling that DA2 sales will end up higher. And that they'll just ignore that kind of reaction they got, since, hey, the cash speaks much louder.
After the first 6 weeks (so, with the vast majority of sales made already)... DA:O sold 969k on XBox, 509k on PS3, 165k on PC = 1.64 mil DA:2 sold 670k on XBox, 323k on PS3, 244k on PC = 1.23 mil
Not the whooping difference I would have hoped to see, especially since, allegedly, game purchases went down across the board in the recent past. _

The real question is, what will make more cash overall (compared to initial investment), DA:O or DA2 ? I have an ice-cold down-the-spine shivering feeling that DA2 sales will end up higher after all DLCs are figured in and costs for development and advertising are subtracted. And that they'll just ignore that kind of reaction they got, since, hey, the cash speaks much louder.

The DLCs will be the real test of how well DA2 really did because lots of people where bound to go out and by the sequel but will they like it enough to drop extra ú$ú into buying DLC for it?

I buy every DLC that comes out for me2
I regret buying da:2 and if i can't pirate the dlc i'll not even care
I have no problems waiting for me3 if it's quality when it gets here. They try to pull another DA:2 with ME and I swear to god i'll pirate every single game they come out with in the future. I'll go out of my way to provide free pirated copies to my friends so they don't give EA money.
If you hear me EA, don't **** this one up.
This whole 'lots of new products is better than one quality product' **** *cough*CCP*cough* may be a valid statement from the standpoint of short term gains, but put into the larger picture nothing will **** off your customer base more and hurt future sales. it's a corporate mentality that extends far beyond the video game world
the company i work for has been doing it for years. sales over support, number of customers over satisfied customers, and it's starting to bite us in the ass. of course the vp's and ceos will deploy golden parachute

But you will buy it, so it's all good for EA. I highly doubt(why is there a b i doubt) they care if you complete it or not as they are of to make the next clone of fifa or what ever :)

No supprise that EA ****s games up. It is what they do best after all. Not the first time, and will not be the last time.
Can't expect anything else from a company that makes games just to make a profit I guess. No integrity or artistic sense. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All we can really do about is hope that the market works the way it should and ****ty publishers don't sell products and either fix up or go bust.
Atari keep hanging on by their fingernails after over 20 years of failure somehow though so I guess I am being naive.

Same here! ME2 left a bad taste after I finished it. This doesn't help.
They took out the good parts that needed to be refined from ME1 and replaced it with something stupid. But at least we can have pink armor.
The story in my opinion was pretty silly in ME2... Actually there wasn't a story. I was just playing mommy Shepard picking up all the kids and dealing with the stupid **** they got into.
To sum it up. If I start to play ME1, I get [i]that[/i awesome feeling. Its gone in ME2. I hope ME3 brings it back but...

I fear that ME is lost now... More and more it feels like Bioware has sold out to the mass market machine and has stopped caring about making actual games.

EA also have a track record of buying a developer for a franchise, deciding said franchise isn't mainstream enough, dumbing down the next game, next game flops, EA kills off franchise. EA aren't the sharpest tools in the box.

The whole Adventure / RPG genre is now dominated by linear, polished, 8 hour **** that an infant can beat with closed eyes, with 3 hour DLC being sold separately. I'm sick of it, I used to play computer games for 10+ hours every week, now I'm down to ~1 hour of TF2 or L4D2 max. ... Perhaps I'm just getting old. :-P
Skipping DA2 until it's Ç5 or so, will probably skip ME3, skipped Portal 2. Not having high hopes for TES5.
