So, is anyone else itching to know what the present is from CCP? I hear that there's a clue in CCP Guard's original Dev Blog about it. What do you all think it will be?
Dear friends.
It is with extreme pride I remind you all that come next Friday May 6, 2011, our baby - EVE Online, will turn eight years old. Some of you have been around since her birth while others just arrived to be part of the next eight years. Either way, we all have plenty to celebrate.
People giving fancy speeches often say "We couldnæt have done it without you". In this case thatæs not just fancy talk and hardly a debateable fact. None of this would have happened without you, the citizens of EVE, who came along for this crazy ride. And to celebrate everything youæve built with us, we want to give each of you a present. The birthday girl herself needs no presents - sheæs happy as long as you all show up for the party.
So next Friday, May 6, we will have a special redeemable present available to all pilots on active, paid accounts.
We hope you enjoy the gift as much as weæve enjoyed having you with us for the last 8 years.

I bolded the part in the blog that I believe is the clue. My thought: a PLEX for all? Doubtful, as that would be a hefty chunk of change...maybe for the 10th anniversary.

That caught my attention at first, but I believe that was a reference to Eve itself. Though I think many of us would argue that she DOES need a present...lots of fixes, actually.

soo is either aura or the quafe girl is back to the gallente pleasure hubs
my first idea it's some kind of redeem item that should provide some kind of holo aura for the future CQ, and some more voice work for the current eve state.

A unique and useless piece of clothing or accessory. It might be a useless ship, but we have a ton of those already and CCP has a hard-on for the new avatars, so I think we will likely be getting avatar related crap this year. A soft package of EVE presents if you will.

Must be already as content/asset in the client if there is no patch scheduled for tomorrow and as the 3d nerds didn't post any new ships/shapes yet it will probably be something that is not represented as a 3d model in space.. so no YAGS this time.

Its a free fun item, so regardless of what it is I'll redeem it and store it and say thanks, appreciate it.... cause its a free novel item, much like all the free novel items they have given as xmas gifts and anniversary gifts. Why is it that people think that it should be some sort of hyper ship that can destroy entire fleets with the wiggle of an eyebrow? or defeat all attempts at being scanned down? or detect entire cloaked fleets with a twitch of its finger? Its a free item that the dev crew are tossing out to us. Don't like it? don't redeem it, or just redeem and sell it on the market/contracts. Its free item, like it or hate it, but seriously, complaining about it is like complaining about your mom handing you a snickers bar and you saying you wanted a mars bar. Its a freebie. Take it and enjoy it, give it away if you don't want it. Don't matter .. cause it was FREE.

are there really more than 1 out of 10 people (if that) that enjoy these things?
I suppose some people really like this sort of thing so I should keep my mouth shut. They won't enjoy everything that I do and I won't enjoy everything they will.. (just another "gift" that's really sort of a dilemma to sell right away at less than it might be worth as a less available collectors item, or to keep looking at it once every 3 to 4 months a wasting 15 seconds of thought ., or maybe 2 seconds lots more times, reconsidering if you should sell it then or later.

Its a frickin shark with a frickin laser beam attached to its frickin head.
Patch 1.0 will nerf the shark.
Patch 2.0 will nerf the laser beam.
Patch 3.0 will remodel the shark and buff the shark.
Patch 4.0 will remove the usefulness of the shark but buff the laser beam.
