JDC1 is a pre-req for Jump Freighters. JDC4 is a pre-req for Black Ops.
Apart from that you don't NEED it but you'd be bloody silly not to train it to at least level 4.

One word: "T3 hulls". No, wait, that's 2 words. Bah.

For a long time, I regretted training my mining skills (especially Mining Director) But then CCP came along and brought out the Orca, who was only a few moments training away due to my old mining-background. Still not fond of all the miningskills I got, but meh, maybe they'll make mining interesting again someday. -------------- Cleaning up wrecks others leave behind! Got to keep space clean! |

Yes. The second and fifth character is always a vowel. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Survey V, it was a prereq for something in the past, then they changed that. Not much else otherwise, and maybe it will be of use again some day.

I was once going to train for a carrier. I got as far as Advanced drone interfacing lvl 4 and then changed direction. Bit of a waste, however in the grand schemes of my skill training its lose change.

You can jump a capital without any other jump-skills aside from the J-drive I you need to actually board a capital.
You're wrong. Jump drive calibration might look like an optional skill, but it's not. It is required to move any cap.
Jump Drive Calibration and Jump Fuel Conservation ARE optional. The only requirement is Jump Drive Operation.
That said, any serious Cap Pilot should have Jump Drive Operation at V and then Calibration and Conservation at IV at a minimum in my opinion.

all my gallente ship, weapon and drone skills (ok, those not, but about 60% of them) after hearing there was a thing called tengu in T3 which somehow is the best mission runner to caldari AGAIN.

Well, after a years in EVE universe I realized I want back all my skillpoint invested in mining & connected skills in industry and command ships as exhumers. I don't have any idea what force can push me into mining againg, even gases, wh, rare high end mins etc...

It was a prereq for salvaging, I too trained it and trained salvaging the moment it came out, made well over a billion the week after salvaging was released. Ah sitting in static plexes raking in npc wrecks - which had to be looted first before you could salvage

Back when I first started playing, on a different character I won't mention. It was all the rage to mine o.o... And some how I found enjoyment out of this. Whether it be the zombie like clicking back and forth. Or the always exciting explosion of an asteroid. Anyways ccp needs to introduce newbie mining delusion remaps. AKA evil corporations who lie to new players about isk/hour. Or grand schemes that fail after the head honcho steals it all. /thread

Thermodynamics is an invaluable skill for any PvP pilot. It has also saved my ass a couple of times during PvE when I got ****y and aggroed an entire room with insufficient tank.

Funny i'd say the opposite, I regret all my non-capital ship skills intensely at the moment. There hasn't been a corp or alliance op in months where I was in less than a triage carrier or somesuch and now i'm locked in with an aeon.

Definately: Planet Management skills, Cruise Missiles && Cruise Missile Spec, Gallente Frigate, Cruiser, Battleship V (Maybe I should train Gallente Carrier, so I could get some use for them, but I already have skills for aeon and archon) Guided Missile Precision V Tactical Shield Manipulation V All Hybrid skills (I mean, wtf? They never worked) Tengu and subsystems V (I never even tried the ship even once :D)

All my rail specific skills on the combat char. Got to fleet rokh, said screw this and respeced to minny on him. So now he has t2 medium projectiles and will hit t2 large later on after I kill off awu 5 finally. Funny thing is when done I could see a wtf lets try it out arty/ac rokh fit for the lolz. Actually don't hate the ship...jsut the guns its supposed to use lol.
Another char...a miner but don't hate thise skills. Its the lets try a rattler on her since she was strong in the ways of the drones. Didn't like rattler, so she has caldari bs and missile skills I could do without now. Caldari bs not even useful for caps since she is a top choice for cap alt and thier carrier, dread and even mommie suck ass. And I don't like the gallente ones either much
This char some science and t2 ship build skills I don't use I wished I didn't have.
Live and learn lol...

JDC and JFC IV are required for capitals in the same way that PE V is required for manufacture. Sure, you can technically live without, but expect to pay through the roof.
As far as skills I regret training, everything in the Social tree. ---
