A new EVE Chronicle has been put up on the World of EVE section of the website. This one details an historic moment in EVE's back story, the Jove/Amarr battle of Vak'Atioth.
Enjoy.

Excellent article very good read. Interesting point, the Amarr lost a BATTLE not the war. Rather they withdrew from the war to deal with threats closer to home. Threats I might add greated not just by the Minmatar but the Gallante as well.
If you read carefully the Amarr where suprised becuase they Jovians had better intel. Not a massive defeat and showing against the Amarr, not a for sure win if the war but the win of one battle.
Would be interesting to see what would happen if the Amarr where better prepared the the Jove not have their intel.
Well written, once again thanks for some awesome material..

if they would place jove weapons on market they will have their own category even tho it's still laser, cause their weapons are so beyond Amarr Laser technology. if they were released on market ever... be highly expected that the requirements for the beam will be like all curent gunnery skills at lvl 5 and a skill with a x10 one.. for the small one, x20 for medium and x50 for large.. or just cost 10Bill 100Bill 1000Bill.. but i'le surly call those beams the best weapons in existance..

You amarrians are self-righteous little bastards, already trying to find excuses as to why you suck :/
It doesn't say how big the Jovian fleet was, and in the fiction it states that the Jovian Navy is by far the smallest of any empire.. for all you know, they downed 200 battleships with the equivalent of 20. Losing a third of that is "meh", you still got pwned in your face.
Oh, and truce only works with the Jovians since they're "above" war and violence, any other empire would make you beg and surrender. But I guess relying on the mercy and compassion of a superior race is almost as bad!
And clearly if 200 battleships is not even a large portion of the overall Amarrian Navy, and they STILL got wtfpwned by a bunch of Slaves with zero pvp experience, it clearly proves that Gallentean kit rules. So not only did the Amarrians get peenslapped by the Joves, they got a kick to the balls from the Minmaturds with phat Gallente tech. Since Caldari are wifebeater businessmen, who have a lot of missles and money despite no family love, they're automatically above Amarrians.

I have recently come into some information that states the Amarr themselves helped the Minmatar rebel, thus forcing a truce with the Jove in an attempt to save face. However, unknown to the Amarr, the Gallente also helped, thus it went out of control and the Minmatar Republic was reborn.
Sarkos shows all the information

No, fanatic idiot overconfident commanders suck, it took minmatar+gallente+jove+our own idiotic military commanders to stop us.
I'd like to see the pathetic gallente do better against that kind of odds.
Our vessels, technology, numbers and power are all superior to those of the lesser races, we may be arrogant and conceited, but we have good reasons to be.

1) While I am sad to see an Apoc destroyed, that illustration was NICE. Too bad we can't see that kind of battle damage in game. When a ship is getting into structure, THAT is what it should look like.
2) Jove use lasers. Makes me glad I'm training medium beams to 5 atm, followed by large. (Not that it will make a difference anytime soon)
3) Mothership = titan? Dreadnaught? Just their uber battleship? Or perhaps it's THIS mysterious ship... (If you spot the turrent you'll get an idea of it's size)

Could it be in a future story that the jove now have a secodn eve gate connecting them to the original earth system and be doing secret weapons trade with teh remaining inhabitants of old earth ? they have had 15,000 years to develop their technology after the eve gate collapse - perhaps they have those deathstars and black hole geneators.

I think it's pretty cheap if Joves are going to wind up using "Jove lasers". They should have a totally different weapon type, something not seen on the other four races. I heard a pretty good idea discussed ages ago regarding Joves using surge weapons, lightning guns basically... think Nosferatu that does damage instead of draining cap.

I know I know, nobody has attacked their empire, but still :P.
EDIT: I notice that the battle went on for "hours" with only 200 enemy ships. Battles in eve don't go on for hours with 200 ships a side, really, do they? Anyone here ever been in a battle of that size? Do ships actually last for more than 6 hours in a fleet battle like that?
