Is it worthwhile to train a carrier if I don't and probably never will have a cyno alt?

cyno alts jsut let you move your carrier around when you want to. These would be your pve runs, or empire runs where you probably won't find a volunteer to be your mid points and desto cyno in that last low sec system like say chamemi.
If looking to combat carrier it...fleet ops always have the cyno's in place.
More local stuff...see how cool your copr is with friendly people. HAd one carrier friend, his cyno alts in locations too far away I'd cyno him local no problems. Of course he was smart enough to offer free transport of stuff...or let me tag along on ca's to sponge bounties. Then there were the sponges who wore out their welcome. Not even a thanks or some lo to run the cyno...first time shame on you, second time shame on me. No third time after that, Ima nice guy, nice guy != bi..... lol.
Not running cyno alts, be nice to the people you are asking to cyno the tl;dr .

Similar question: is it worthwhile to train hulk if i will never manufacture? Or: is it worthwhile to train planet interaction if i don't want to do POS?
Carrier don't need cyno for its life. Cyno is only needed for traveling between systems. Most carriers spend 90% of life in one system doing anomalies

A carrier is a fleet assist ship, first and foremost. If you think you would like to be in fleets with a carrier Then yes.
Cyno alt is something that would be on a second account. If you dont have a second account, then you can make a first account alt that still runs a cyno. Then at least when ppl help you , you have the ability tohelp them back on another occasion.
Cyno is a short/fast trane btw. That alt could do many other things and be very useful.

Costs 400mil a month in PLEX. That really adds up.
Although... with the infite alt account thing, maybe it could be a lot cheaper

If you can afford to pilot a carrier, you can afford 400m/month.
Put some PI or industry on those alts, and you will be making more than that.

DO I WANT A CARRIER CHECK-LIST: 1. AM I OUT OF HIGHSEC? 2. AM I IN A PLAYER CORP? 3. AM I AWARE OF JUMP DRIVE MECHANICS? 4. AM I ABLE TO USE A CYNO ALT? 5. AM I GOING TO USE THE THING? 6. AM I ABLE TO REPLACE IT?
If you answered, "yes," to all of these you might be ready.

This. Its a good checklist to keep in mind if you are thinking about training for a carrier Dont forget that just training all the skills is going to set you back a billion isk, and then you dont even have a carrier yet.

Should you be in 0.0 if you want to do pve with your corp, carrier for anomalies can make huge sums of money and pay for itself in no time
If you want fleet pvp a carrier can be great, not so much in low sec and totally useless if you live in high sec

There are also these wonderful things that every decent SOV holding alliance has called Cyno Beacons that you can jump to without ever involving another player, or alt. Magic.

If you don't train it, and have the opportunity to steal them then you'll be kicking yourself. Spaceships! |

no, what he's talking about are PoS Modules that are cyno beacons which you can jump to. All decent sov holding alliances have them.

carrier without cyno alts is a very crippled way of using a carrier IMO.
If you decide making any, carriers are very useful ships for multiple purposes: -logistics -PvE -combat (triage) carriers are a very powerful tool
