Something that screams old ship?
I expect that'd be a cruise missile toting Kestrel. I know a few of them did exist in some players hangers after the missile ammo changes back in, err, '04? Dunno if the dual (or more) MWD ships still exist (but not flyable) or if the fittings were stripped from them.
The only way you're going to find out is if a Dev reads this and runs a DB query for you out of curiosity, but I don't think they can do that any more, not like they used to. --------------------------------- Go Web! Go! |

Definitely not "oldest", but among the ancient are any Guardian-Vexors that may still exist and the Veldnaught.

Edited by: robocpf1 on 25/05/2011 17:47:37 Edited by: robocpf1 on 25/05/2011 17:47:17 A friend of mine found a Thorax in one of his hangars a few weeks ago that, no joke, still had the old graphics scheme applied. The OLD one. So that's probably pretty ancient.
I've got a Probe that I've probably had for several years as a scanning ship, no idea on the actual date. Large rigs (though I had the ship a good while before rigs even existed).
It's one of those ships you buy when you start the game, then realize what ship bonuses are and buy a Rifter, then stash the old ship in your hangar forever. Then later you find the ship and think "Whoa, cheap scanning frig!" and fit it with rigs and a Sisters launcher. :D

Joke or not, I call bull****. I'm sure someone else will happily explain why.
As for old ships, there's a bestower around with 2 midslot warp core stabs, I'd say that's a good sign it's quite old.
Should be tons of cruise missile stealth bombers around and a bunch of 7 gun eoses. Parrots, commence!

Going by GameFAQs EVE Online went live May 6, 2003 while World of Warcraft didn't go live until November 23, 2004. That's a bit over a year and a half difference.

Technically that would mean he would have rage quit and gone back to Everquest, since in 2003 EQ was the big dog on the MMORPG block.

Rigs didn't always come in small/medium/large sizes - they used to be only one size. This made fitting rigs to cruisers and frigates a pain in the arse because the rigs were very expensive (roughly as much as large rigs are today).
When small/medium rig sizes were added, every existing rig became "large." You can't fit large rigs to sub-BS class ships anymore, but if you have an old ship that you rigged before the change, the large rigs will still be on it and still function normally. Personally I have a Phantasm with 3x large extender rigs on it ________________

I have a heavy missile Kestrel in one of my hangars. I was too noob to fit it with cruise missiles at the time (Feb. 2004)
I used to be able to undock with it (years ago) but just wasn't able to fire the weapons. Now, I just get a message telling me that the ship doesn't have enough PowerGrid.

You can activate it. You can't undock in it until you unfit the cruise launchers. The game will allow you undock with 2 MWD fitted, but only one can be online at a time.

The Opux Luxury Yacht is quite old, as is his Silver Magnate. The Gold Magnate (the only one ever to exist) was shot down in PvP.
I'm guessing they don't make Polaris frigates anymore, so all those are ancient, too (can't be destroyed, so why make any more?). The Jove ships the GMs can fly out in Jove space are also probably the original ones spawned at game launch. But I am sure they can spawn new ones too.

I un-docked it and shot off a couple of volley's , it wouldn't let me reload the siege missiles, but let me shoot them still, so it was kind of lulz before i f'd myself in the a.

Floating around somewhere, I have a Caldari shuttle I used to retrieve my first Badger II; at the time, 20-something jumps away. This was during my first few weeks of eve, when I went through ships more rapidly than toilet paper. Also before I found out I could right click and go to 'Leave Ship'. Not particularly impressive, I know, but that was the first (and so far, the only) ship I ever manufactured myself, from materials I mined myself.
Also, I have a cargo hauler that I regularly steal people's ore with, and I've had it for quite a long time. I find it quite awesome that nobody has been able to stop me and pop me - though many have tried.

I recall this wasn't an option originally, to get into a pod, you had to eject or have your ship blown up.
I've still got a rapier fitted with large polys, and a couple of drakes lying around somewhere with large purgers.
The oldest I have is probably a thorax in lowsec where I used to run level 2 missions, that's pretty fail-fitted; 2x 250mm rails and 2x dual 150mm rails. it's mids and lows are better though.

yeah there used to be a trick... if you timed it just right, you could eject right when you heard "docking request accepted", and your ship would still be sucked into station but youd be left outside in a pod. That was before shuttles were even in the game. This signature space for rent |
