Edited by: Ciar Meara on 31/05/2011 13:23:39 Very nice, you can clearly see the beginnins of gallente depravity from these pictures.
Unlike Amarr cities with their holy centers and melodious chanting the only chanting that reverberates across the rounded walls of this city is chanting from protests and parties where the depraved prey on the innocent, if such a thing still exists in Gallente society.
I'd second the opinion of it being a tad green but I really like it. It has that Blade Runner feel of a city but perhaps a bit more upbeat. Would it be possible to see the render in a video with a flythrough or something similar? With vehicles it would most certainly look very alive.
Lookin forward to more. ------------------------------------------------- A friend of death, a brother of luck and a son of a *****

Gallente cities will be like any generic sci-fi utopia-like metropolis with a mixture of all kinds of things, colorful lights everywhere.
Amarr cities will be very focused on religious buildings. Buildings will be monotone but not as uniform as Caldari.
Caldari cities will be a gridded blocks of apartments and shops and everything will fit into the grid nicely, they have to. (I read somewhere that almost all Caldari cities look the same.)
Minmatar cities will be a volumetric scrapyard like a massive rogue drone hive...

something id like to point out is this sign:

the gallente are hardcore on civil liberties, the punishments outlined in that sign... I'm not sure they fit Gallente culture.
thats a canonical debate, but its worth keeping in mind. --

Really impressive mate!
The only constructive comment I can offer is about the green seeming a little uniform, maybe a little more cyan and yellow in there, would still give an overall green feel, but would break the lines a bit. I like the shapes of your large cluster in the middle especially, those buildings look very nice. Good work!

point taken, however drugs are illegal in high sec, I can imagine that Gallente people are big on their civil liberties, I can imagine the citizens on the outer fringes are even bigger on not letting their security status from slipping. What is there for concord to defend if an outer colony is turned into drug ridden hell hole that is secretly controlled by the likes of Serpentis. Also remember In gallente society sometimes its not the size of the crime its the size of your pocket book or connections that count!

I like it, must have taken a while, a little flat on the lighting but nothing that trully detracts from it, and i love the holo-real things. I realise i'm nitpicking when i say thist but planetside people dont' use isk, not sure what they use, maybe that aurom currenty or somthing else? still i like the advert and it's a very nice touch. If it were me i'd have made the buildings more a clean white/chrome and used lighting to give the green effect to it, still when i first saw it i have to agree it definalty speaks gallente.

I would like to think they use isk on planets. but not in the millions like pilots do. I would like to think that us pilots are the most handsomely paid in the universe due to the risks we take and the dangerous life style of living in space. back on planet side I was thinking a colonists average wage might be something around fourty thousand? That's only if you if a pilot or corp could manage a colony? but to be honest I'm just talking pie in the sky! thank you for the comment.

I rather suspect that ISK is pretty much the sole reserve of pod pilots and interplanetary mega organisations.
If a Rifter costs say 200k ISK, and is the size of a 747 which costs in the hundreds of millions range, and is a space warship, which would probably cost in real terms in the billion range (I usually go with the 747 cost as flying is a mature tech on Earth so the price is probably closer to the price of a spaceship in eve, but still military hardware does usually cost significantly more so I could still be massively underestimating the exchange rate with a currency that buys bread). Then it can be assumed that ISK has an exchange rate of at least an order of 1,000 to 10,000 with any currency that dose the equivalent of a loaf of bread for approx one currency unit.
Thus in ISK your typical wage would be 4~40 ISK per annum, so unless it breaks down into divisions of milli and/or micro ISK, it is too inconvenient to use for ordinary mortals.
I suspect that most individual planets have their own currencies, and that interplanetary exchanges are done via isk.
As Aurum on the test server looks to have an ISK exchange rate of around 90~120k isk per AUR it is even less suitable for ordinary wage packets, as a single AUR would be worth in the region of 100 million to 1 billion local currency. __________________________________________________

Yeah, what you say makes sense. except with the 747 comparison. I kind of thought that in eve ships were made from automated labor than manual? thus making it cheaper?. apart from that I'm going to side with you. It would be good to have faction currencies because it would probably open up a whole new angle to trade. however It would only be affective if you were able to manage affairs plant side. I'm shore will see how isk fairs from space to planets when dust514 is released. thanks for the re.

ISK stands for interstellar credits if I'm correct. And somewhere buried deep inside the lore of eve (wich I for the love of god can't find right now) it was said that isk was a currency specially made for the capsuleers and that a person on a planet could only dream of saving up a few thousand ISK in his entire lifetime. heck even a payment of 0.01 ISK is A LOT for planet side peeps.
To bad I can't find the chronicle/background/short story anymore -------------
