Hello all. I'm a 3D designer and also a massive Eve Online fan. after seeing previous projects on eve cities, I set out on my own part-time project to create a Gallente city. when flying over heavily populated planets or 'Primes', I always wondered what the light clusters with their strands of light stretching over the oceans would look like at ground level.(Old School city template,Bring it back!)My main idea was Bladerunner'esk but tinted green with more neons and everything rounded or curved if you get my thinking? Through working from references of Gallente artwork, stations, ships and faction bio, I slowly put together a set. I imagine that most eve cities are probably even bigger than what i'm showing. I've set mine as a small colonial coastal city that could exist on the outskirts of Gallente space. I've tried my best to make it as detailed as one person on a project can. I've also still got loads of stuff to finish so i'll keep the thread updated with more stuff as I complete it. 99% of everything on set has been made from scratch, Don't ask me how long it look,,,, toooo dam long! I hope one day in the distant future the game will still be going and will allow us to walk planet side or build cities like this. enjoy guys! Next post. vehicles carriers and landspeeders etc.

Think New York + Tokyo etc x10000 (continental/planetary cities)
Mountains and seas of skyscrappers but with lots of green as well...
5th element... Matrix machine city... look at movies for images of massive cities etc

Great job man really like them
But I must do some critiquing / suggestions
Look into providing someplace for a small landing pad, maybe an iteron or some shuttles.
Though now that i look at it maybe a little too much green, the lights green yeah, but you may want to look into changing the colour texture of the buildings themselves. Enclosed are stuff from the original gallente stations to kind of show you what i mean.
Also - pleasure hub 1 pleasure hub 2
Other than that, looks really good man.

going with grey, slate or grey-blue textures with green lighting might be closer to the Gallente in game look possibly?
Also if you want to make the city look 'alive' some traffic on the roads/travel systems would go along way towards that.
Iterion are huge, even the 'small' ones (check one out against a 747 sized Rifter), so if you want a landing pad for those it needs to be big ;-) but something shuttle size would be cool.
Otherwise, I have to say that looks pretty awesome, Looking forward to what you do next :-)

Here's my critique:
The city doesn't feel massive at all, it is just a moderate sized city with a handful of skyscrappers the rest are just normal buildings. Buildings lack variety and color and the floating things seems rather at the wrong place, I mean the whole thing is just scaled wrong. The skyscrappers should be reaching into the clouds. The lights the baloons should be at "street level" so people can see them and they should be tiny dots floating in a huge HUGE network of traffic lights and big BIG buildings and structures. In fact if I'm you I would be rather be creating a pattern stretching out in all directions and have forests of skysc****rs going from the ground straight into the clouds and lots and LOTS and LOTS of lights and spotlights and traffics and things happening not just on the groud but mid air forming CLOUDS and LAYERS and MESHES and VOLUMES of stuff. Very busy very complicated like several New Yorks stacked on top of each other. Because in the future things can fly and cities are no longer 2d. Megastructures. Underground levels. Cities build on top of a building. Cliffs of streets and hanging shops. Be WILD and IMAGINATIVE and BIG and MASSIVE and NUMOUROUS.

it's important to remember lighting. The pleasure hub has no sky.

I think the same goes to Obsidian Hawk, you seem to be too careful about the smooth shapes and everything is in order not to destroy the shape that it is forming... but then it becomes bland and monotone and dead.

Oh wait perhaps my critiques do not apply to 3D artists because you guys are rather focused on just the technicals of the actual "3D"s and rendering individual buildings and stuff? I don't know.

um Obsidians links were of old station designs from eve. That's what gallente stations used to look like. __________________________________________________

Good stuff Chris. On your next one you should play with luminosity and mess around with the way you blend your textures into your materials.

Yeah I linked the old gallente stations more for inspiration and ideas for lighting, as it is the hardest part of any project. While the green does enbody a lot of the Gallente style, too much of it can be bad.

You want the moon on a stick don't you lol, As stated the in my original post, my piece isnt meant to be a huge mega-city. Its more like a colonial city or outpost on the edges of Gallente space. You have to realise i'm only one man that can only do so much. I would have done it bigger but it would have lost its character if I continuously repeated everything. I've done some street level stuff with I've almost finished i'll show a after I release my vehicles. thank you for the critique.
