CQ will allow you to connect to a lonely person locked in a single room that no one else can enter or see.
I'm sure that will make for a very fulfilling and immersive roleplaying experience.

Edited by: Miss Chigger on 31/05/2011 10:21:30 Remember that it took CCP 6 years to get to this point. So when will we have living, breathing stations? Probably 3 or so more years optimistically.
Edit: also 6 years is just when it was announced so probably 9 years.

You should dock and be in the hanger as it is now. Then there should be a little button you push which allows you to leave your ship. Either you insta load CQ then or you have a little animation of you leaving your pod.
That's the easiest solution to this whole faff, it adds more immersion and allows the option to use the content of Incarna or not. It's immersion breaking to dock and all of a sudden I'm an Avatar on a balcony.
I don't see why CCP would make such an error in scrapping the often beautiful aspect of seeing your ship in the hanger and being able to rotate it and spin it around with the lighting from the hanger. Especially when it loads nice and fast and offers that much more functionality to people. I love CQ, I will most often jump out of my ship and sit on my sofa...and when I get to walk around in bars I will be doing it a lot. But don't just dump me into the CQ when I dock EVERY time, that for me breaks immersion.

That's the way they advertised it at a previous Fanfest.
There was even a demo of a cutscene of the capsuleer being "decanted" from the pod, dumped naked and disoriented on the floor of the captain's quarters.
That fell by the wayside at some point, sadly. Hopefully they'll get back on track before June 21.

The main reason a friend of mine never touched eve is because he simply hated the UI and presentation. Even though he did admit its the type of game he loves to play and get completely sucked into.
When he heard about incarna it peaked his interest and I think that it might be what he was looking for.
I completely agree with the OP, Including the option to switch between CQ and the hangar view (ship spinning) at will. --------------------------------------------- Somewhere beyond happyness and sadness, I need to calculate what creates my own madness o/ |

I think the pod pilot never leaves his egg backstory was too successful in covering for a total lack of the most standard MMO feature.

i have to say i've heard many a friend bull**** there way to that answer, oohhh UI isn't nice,, oohhh kinda hard to learn/understand how things work (game is too hard) but it's my type of game, yea right lol, players who stick around in eve get sucked into the gameplay and the options there is for so many paths you can take in the game, players do not stick around because it looks cute and is full of nonsense content that does nothing, must say that again does NOTHING ! for the game. i've waited like eveyone else in hope for Incarna, Ambulation or Walking in Stations whichever you wish to call it, yes i'm around long enough to remember the promises and the old names, but come on, being only able to walk around inside a small box, a place where only i can go, a place where all content is discovered and not bothered with again because it's only interactive for me alone is not the way i expected it to be, having said that, i do have hope for it, if and when stations are truly open for all to wander around in, ya know,to let you do all that wonderful roleplaying that so many of you wish to do, only then will it be worth the support it deserves from the players. as it currently stands, nope, no way, it does nothing except introduce a new way to do nothing while online, incarna the new (ship spinning) lets face it, if you find yourself doing nothing but(ship spinning)or in the near future sitting in that captains box, it's time to get motivated, join a new corp that insists you get off station and join in, or delete your account and move on.
you where right about your friend, it peaked his interest, because if you're honest with yourself you'll agree that if he was even a little interested he'd sub up for a few months and get stuck in, not talk ****e and bluff his way to the excuse he gives you, he's just being nice, he really thinks we're nuts lol us space pew pew like people.
time for my rant to end on these couple of points.
those who looked and thought TLDR,, get ya spoon and wait in line
option to stay in pod and not be forced to leave it is a must !

I am sorry for Joshua however, I think the funding for his corporate titan will have to be put into buy the Coreli Cartel's booster bar.

there should be an option for black screen. I mean that's fine, I've got a net book too.
This. I've got a desktop PC that can run the duality build smoothly (minnie quarters), but my netbook can't even start the client due to the graphics chip not supporting shader model 2.0. I can only play on my desktop every other week, so I will probably quit for a while, due to not being able to play half the time. I am saving up for a laptop that can run incarna, but I wont have it for a while.
A black screen is enough for me, as long as I can still play from my netbook. I'm a full-on supporter for Incarna, as it looks really great, but I also want to be able to play on the netbook I have.

Edited by: Brooks Puuntai on 31/05/2011 12:30:58 For those who have friends who never got into Eve because of lack of full body avatar, or if CCP is hoping that Incarna will increase the player base. Well its not going to happen. The fact that Incarna is just walking around and playing dress up isn't going to dramatically change peoples outlook on the actual CORE of the game.. You know the spaceship aspect of it.
However due to CCPs obsession with Sims in Space, glitter vampires, and a Halo clone the actual core of the game has been degrading drastically over the past couple years. Its sad to see that we will have to wait 3-4 years before CCP actually starts focusing heavily on spaceships again(the 3 years is based off of the dev blog for fixes projected in 2014).

@OP
If from RP point of view I can't say other thing than /agree I also learned after time that the real "business" is those fuking spaceships.
ATM the avatar is almost nothing than training skills and some pod remembering you have some char when you're poded and loose sp/implants etc. I'm really looking forward with Incarna and hope is some content adding stuff people expect, but I can't say this without also saying this game is first of all the best space ship game out there thx to his extraordinary formula of single shard. This said, I'd like to see the existent content being revamped/rebalanced before going further for several reasons going from team development/balance awarded and new content/ancient content rebalance.
This being said, how can someone stay indifferent in front of the last ccp video where spaceship action planet interaction and ground units actions open so many possibilities and freedom of choice.
On this one CCP costs me half ball but I(ll say it, /bow girls & boys

An optimistic estimate on when it will happen? I think around 2030, given the progress of the game until now.

Fail. 70% of players dwell in Empire space. Guess PvP combat and the supposed "end game" of fighting Russian gangstas in 0.0 is NOT that much of a priority for players, unlike what PvP whiners and PvP forum warriors pretend.
